AIBU to think that bigger ladies still want to wear vests and T-shirts?

I'm a size 22, and desperately looking for nice vest tops and T-shirts. Tonight I Googled 'plus size ladies vest tops' and a company called Principals came up with a photo of a vest top in what looked like a lovely colour. I clicked straight through, thinking 'I'll have one of those to start off', then when I saw what an AMAZING selection of colours they had available, and also noticed that they appear to have good 'green' credentials, I was all set to place a massive order for tops in lots of exciting, different colours. I then looked at the size chart, only to find that the biggest size they make is an 18 - 20. My heart sank, I was SO disappointed. So am I being unreasonable in thinking that there are lots of other bigger ladies, who still want to buy vests and T's, and if so, would you be ready to bombard this company and ask them not to leave us out?

Im not a bigger lady but have a hard time finding clothes for my short 5ft 15 year old. Just seems if you dont fit into the norm clothes are hard to come by, so understand where your coming from. Definetly message head office and let them know about sizes, why soukd bigger ladies not have access to same clothes as slimmer ladies

Annoymouser2 · 12/10/2021 23:58

I googled size 22 vest tops and they have plus sized on amazon..

SpringCrocus · 12/10/2021 23:58

Teemill are your friend

DrWhoNowww · 13/10/2021 00:03

Why pick on principals specifically?

There are loads of clothing places who don’t do T-shirt’s and vest tops in sizes bigger than a 20.

Equally there are lots of shops that do - Yours, Simplybe, Bom Marche, Evans, Boohoo, there’s quite a bit of choice.

Don’t waste your energy on a company that doesn’t cater for you when there’s so many that do.

Speakuptomakeyourselfheard · 13/10/2021 00:06

Please can you give me a link to Teemill 'SpringCrocus', as all I can find are sizes up to 18?

QuestionableMouse · 13/10/2021 00:19

Do you have a link to them please?

Bells3032 · 13/10/2021 00:28

I am size 22 and weirdly buy a lot of stuff on amazing. I have some really lovely outfits ranging from pjs to t shirts to swimsuits and even evening gowns from them.

Jumpingintochristmas · 13/10/2021 00:45

ASOS have 235 items under size 22 cami, vest and T-shirt filter.

Carboncheque · 13/10/2021 01:13

H&M - their XL is size 20-22 and they also do a 22 (their sizing is ok for tops but their jeans sizes often come up small)
Monsoon - their XL is size 20-22 and they also do a 22
Boden - XL is 20-22 and they also do a 22
Fat Face do a 22

Carboncheque · 13/10/2021 01:22

joanieclothing.com/tops/jersey-tops.html?size=EXTRA+LARGE+%28UK+20-22%29 do an XL that’s 20-22 and have some nice printed T-shirts

jubbablub · 13/10/2021 02:44

Lucy and Yak go up to a 4XL, which is a size 32.

Lokdok · 13/10/2021 03:39

Sorry YABU. Of course you deserve nice tops but at a 22 you’re well into the plus size bracket so better looking at a specialised shop for larger ladies - they’ll fit nicer too

Boomshakalakaaaaa · 13/10/2021 04:01

I'm finding it odd that you tried one place and that means nowhere caters for you? Asda do loads of plus size stuff.

Surely you must realise not all brands carry all sizes. Years ago Principals regularly stopped certain lines at a size 14, they have come a long way considering they are now online only.

Belledan1 · 13/10/2021 04:11

Simply be/asos/fashion world/bon prix/curvissa/fashion world have you tried them?

Marguerite2000 · 13/10/2021 04:18

Sainsburys Tu do vest tops and tshirts up to size 24-26 .

Pixxie7 · 13/10/2021 04:39

Try next Dorothy Perkins or Marks.

GlittercheeksOakleaf · 13/10/2021 05:24

Even primark go up to a 2XL which is 22-24, admittedly not in every item but they do some.

Pretty much every shop does clothing up to a 22 or 24 now and shops specifically for plus size go a lot bigger. Lots have a plus size range that's cut more in more flattering styles.

I'm the same size as you and I can walk into almost any shop and get something nice which I used to really struggle to do.

JustGiveMeGin · 13/10/2021 06:31

Seriously you are looking for an issue where there just isn't one. Simply be, Curvissa, Bon Marche, Amazon, ASOS, Pretty Little Thing, Missguided, Primark, Asda, New Look all do clothes in your size.
Why would you bombard a company that doesn't cater for you rather than just choose one that does?

onelittlefrog · 13/10/2021 06:45

It's not that hard to find vest tops and t shirts in that size though? If you were talking about nice evening wear or something then I can understand because I think the selection there is a bit more limited, but for what you are wanting, you can easily find it.

Just look at different companies - there are lots of suggestions above.

Many clothing companies have a size range and it's partly because of profit margins, they will make the sizes that sell the most. Some just don't go above or below certain sizes, but others do.

If there is a particular store that you want to increase their size range then you can ask them or start a campaign but it sounds like you plucked Principles out randomly.

applesandoranges221 · 13/10/2021 06:45

I've been a size 22 before so I do understand how hard it is, but seriously - M and S, sainsburies etc etc all do tops in that size. Bon Marche also do great, cheap basics - their fancier things I grant you are quite old lady like but they're fine for plain coloured t-shirts and vest tops.
