Amazon nightmare

I ordered a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet and keyboard from Amazon costing just under £1k.

It supposedly arrived today. Any guesses as to what was actually in the box?

I have made a report to Amazon assuming they would put the issue right and they say that because the package was delivered to my address they consider the item to have been delivered and will not refund or replace the item.

AIBU to this this is totally unacceptable?

I'd take my card details off the Amazon account so they can't charge you for it.

Glad you've got your order, and yes, good call to make DH wait in for it!

HOpefully they won't try to charge you for it.

Glad it got sorted. I had similar (a pack of Pampers nappies delivered instead of an expensive electronic Ring alarm system from Amazon) but they never quarrelled - sent a replacement straight away. But yes, they did want the nappies back which I never understood. This was 2 years ago now so clearly it is a known scam by now. Our box also didn’t look tampered with at all so not sure how they do it.

I was watching The One Show last night on the BBC and Watchdog had a piece on how Amazon substitutions were happening and Amazon would only honour the deal if the customer returned the 'substituted' item and the missing article. They are still looking for stories about this so if you're still being impacted, contact Watchdog. They are actively working on the story.
