I have a little horror but who wants to step things up a bit this year but not sure what to watch with her! I was thinking maybe some of the older scary films as they’re not really scary anymore.
So far she’s watched and enjoyed:

Little shop of horrors
Rocky horror picture Show
Goosebumps (and read all of the books!)
Nightbooks
Addams family
A few episodes of Sabrina

Probably a few others.
She said she wants to actually feel scared for the next one.
Not too scary though please as I am a wimp!

Hocus Pocus
Casper

I loved both of these when I was a kid.

NannyR · 03/10/2021 08:20

The original Ghostbusters?

SpicyPickle22 · 03/10/2021 08:34

She’s seen ghostbusters. She wants something a bit more scary! 😱

I was going to say hotel transylvania, or maybe monster house?

Palavah · 03/10/2021 08:38

Arachnaphobia

Rubytinsleslippers · 03/10/2021 08:40

Haunted Mansion
Series of Unfortunate Events
Adams Family
House with the clock in the walls

whoami24601 · 03/10/2021 08:47

Hocus pocus and Nightmare Before Christmas are our Halloween favourites here.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 03/10/2021 08:50

7yo watched the rocky horror picture show?

Yutes · 03/10/2021 08:53

Ok probably non scary but good Halloween fun -
Nightbooks (on Netflix)
There’s a tv show on Netflix called Creeped Out. It’s a PG the trailer looks pretty creepy. They are 24 min episodes, so you could sus it out yourself quickly.

What about trying Stranger Things?

Yutes · 03/10/2021 08:55

Tbh I have a memory of my mum letting me what ab episode of the X-Files and feeling pretty scared!

ToffeePennie · 03/10/2021 09:11

Halloween town, zombies 1 & 2, the haunted mansion. Frankenweenie, the munsters, the corpse bride, nightmare before Christmas, Casper meets Wendy, mums got a date with a vampire, Into the woods.

Mine is 7 too and these are all “must watch” for Halloween.

TimeForTeaAndG · 03/10/2021 09:14

I'd be concerned that letting her watch something with an actual scare wouldn't be as fun for her as she thinks. You can't take it back once she's watched it.

Saying that though, what about Gremlins?

GregoryFluff · 03/10/2021 09:20

Paranorman is a fab film

DressBitch · 03/10/2021 09:22

I'd look for episodes of Are You Afraid of the Dark. I used to love it when I was younger, and I can remember being genuinely scared at times.

It's probably not aged well, though.

SpicyPickle22 · 03/10/2021 09:24

Oh I remember that! I remember there were a few episodes of creep show that we’re quite tame too.

Poltergeist.

Somethingsnappy · 03/10/2021 10:39

Here for the answers! I wondered about Gremlins too. What do others think about that one? Too scary or OK?

Kanaloa · 03/10/2021 10:54

Second Stranger Things. Also had completely forgotten about Casper Meets Wendy - still remember the scene where she clicks her fingers and is dressed! Loved that movie.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 03/10/2021 10:58

@FrankButchersDickieBow

7yo watched the rocky horror picture show?
I thought the same.
LittleLego · 03/10/2021 10:59

Coraline is quite creepy

Valhalla17 · 03/10/2021 11:02

Stranger Things is really not for a 7yr old. The demogorgon etc is pretty terrifying in my opinion

Ghostbusters
Night books on netflix
Tremors
I would even say the Lost Boys, you'd just need to skip past the brief sex scene

Mumdiva99 · 03/10/2021 11:03

@FrankButchersDickieBow

7yo watched the rocky horror picture show?
My thoughts exactly. Completely inappropriate....

Please don't try to make your child grow up too soon. Look at the film ratings they are there for a reason.

Valhalla17 · 03/10/2021 11:05

Also Locke and Key on netflix is pretty good

SpicyPickle22 · 03/10/2021 11:09

Oh lost boys would be perfect!

thepinknecklace · 03/10/2021 11:18

Your 7 yr old has read all the goosebump books? There are over 200 of them.

Hmm
