Boris Johnson the trivial man

KS: “I don’t think Boris Johnson is a bad man, I think he’s a trivial man. I think he’s a showman with nothing left to show. I think he’s a trickster & he’s performed his one trick. Once he said ‘Get Brexit Done’ his plan ran out. He has no plan’

He's right. Unfortunately Labour don't seem to have a plan either!!

pontypridd · 29/09/2021 14:28

They are not in charge, yet. Their plan must be to get in the driving seat - surely.

It’s the government’s job to plan how to run our country.

I agree, there's definitely no plan, and when they do announce something it's always three weeks after the event (and more often than not, pulled from the last Labour manifesto).

Not had chance to hear Starmer's speech yet, so I can't comment on his plans.

I also think he's right.

Boris johnson has no substance. He's never needed it because he done his blustery messages, thrown his verbal grenades, then legged it when the results came home to roost.

He did it with his Brexit lies, he did it with the early pandemic.

He's useless, spineless and a liar.

Labour need to raise their game x 1000 or give up forever. If you can't win against this awful, shambolic, hideous government, you never will.

Orangejuicemarathoner · 29/09/2021 14:30

The emperor has no clothes

CoRhona · 29/09/2021 14:30

Is your question about who's U aimed at KS for saying that or BJ for being that?

TrampolineForMrKite · 29/09/2021 14:31

I would say that this is bang on. Except that I don’t think that he’s not a bad man.

MapleMay11 · 29/09/2021 14:33

Spoken by Keir Starmer, that's hilarious. This Labour party conference has demonstrated they are a totally unelectable bunch of clowns. High entertainment value though.

Thedogscollar · 29/09/2021 14:34

Yes he is 100% right with that statement.

Boris was made leader of Cons party to see Brexit through. Post Brexit Boris thought he would coast along till the next election then disappear onto the lecture circuit and pen the obligatory autobiography.

Covid arrived and we then saw him in all his showman glory and dear God hasn't that been a disaster.
No real opposition tho and I fear he will be voted in again.

SueSaid · 29/09/2021 14:36

'A trivial man'. Yet he's PM and trouncing Labour at every turn.

Starmer could have done better to have worked on what he hoped to achieve instead of childish slurs. Slight improvement from this sidekicks 'scum' shriek of course.

They just seem so desperate and amateurish.

Indeed.
SusieBob · 29/09/2021 14:44

He's right, but the problem remains that labour are doing a shit job as the opposition, so at the moment we have the choice between the cunts on one side of the chamber and the useless wankers on the other.

BrendaBubbles · 29/09/2021 14:46

I disagree with Keir. Boris is a bad man. Abandoned a wife who had cancer, goes out with a woman who could be his daughter, writes and says racist and homophobic things, lies outright (and knows he's lying) to get an advantage. If he were the DH of anyone in a MN post, we would be telling her to LTB.

TooBigForMyBoots · 29/09/2021 14:47

I watched the Newsnight interview with Michel Barnier the other night. MB repeatedly referred to Boris Johnson as a "serious" politician who negotiated and signed the Brexit deal. I got the distinct impression that he meant trivial every time he said serious.Wink

Wabola · 29/09/2021 14:52

Whatever he thinks about BJ is not going to make Labour any less shit

Porridgealert · 29/09/2021 14:59

It’s the government’s job to plan how to run our country.

Unfortunately, they can't even find the car, never mind the driving seat. Is their plan going to be full of £15ph promises? Do they think people on £30,000 are going to vote themselves into the minimum wage? I think they're going to need more than rhetoric to get into that seat.
SueSaid · 29/09/2021 14:59

'I disagree with Keir. Boris is a bad man. Abandoned a wife who had cancer'

They separated the year before her diagnosis.

And yet Labour are still as useful as opposition to the government as a chocolate teapot. What does that say about Keir's leadership potential? It doesn't matter what the manifesto says, it matters what MPs do in Parliament and for their constituents - that's where the votes come from.

The country is up to it's neck, this is the point where the opposition should be tearing the government to pieces in almost every sitting of parliament to try and get the country back on track without it only being for the benefit of the rich.

Labour are not the party of the working person anymore, I'm not sure what they are to be honest, except for women hating apologists and hypocrites.

I'm a politically homeless person who lives in a Labour/Tory swing seat and there's no chance I'm voting for Labour without a seismic shift in the party.

HarrietsChariot · 29/09/2021 15:04

@pontypridd

They are not in charge, yet. Their plan must be to get in the driving seat - surely.

It’s the government’s job to plan how to run our country.

The only way they will be able to get into the driving seat is to have a plan that is believable and better than what the government are doing.

It's not enough to just say "the Tories are scum" - they need to provide a credible alternative.

"Their plan must be to get in the driving seat" - isn't that exactly what people complain was the problem with people who promoted Brexit, they were only interested in getting the vote and didn't plan for what came next?

SueSaid · 29/09/2021 15:04

Tbh a former chief of CPS should be able to wipe the floor with Johnson. The fact Labour are unable to just proves how utterly inept they are.

I mean come on, Brexit Covid and now a fuel crisis! These grim 'opportunities' should be a gift for Labour but nope. They still look like a bunch of clowns who have no clue about running a country.

Look at Labour run Wales..

Paddington2 · 29/09/2021 15:07

He's a bad man. And so is Starmer. KS is an establishment stooge, same as Blair.

tttigress · 29/09/2021 15:09

Far point, but if he can still beat Labour, what does that really say about Labour?

the80sweregreat · 29/09/2021 15:12

I only caught a tiny bit of Sir Kier Starmer's speech and I must admit it sounded a bit dull to be honest. Maybe the rest was better ?
They need someone a bit more dynamic ( that is only my opinion though)
What the policies are I've no idea. That's what matters really , but it's getting those policies across that is crucial.

Franklin12 · 29/09/2021 15:16

I heard most of the speech. He seems a genuine man but he bores the hell out of me. He cannot seem to control any of his party. Raynor comes to mind. He has a fair % of his party who want to lurch to the left and anyone who doesnt want to do that is called out on it.

Look at what John McDonnell did yesterday during the conference. There is a dangerous element within Labour who will destroy any chance they have of having even a fighting chance of winning the next election (and indeed the one after!).

This element seem to have learnt nothing about the last drubbing they got in the GE. The manifesto was a laughing stock. Corbyn was disliked. Diane Abbott was brought out and made Labour look even worse. She is clearly unwell but she hangs on in there - god knows why. She, Corbyn, McDonnell, etc were the gift that kept giving. Jon Ashworth in a secret recording said the message on the doorstep was dire.

Owen Jones and Ash Sarkar were given a huge amount of media time making Labour look like loons.

Itsnotallaboutyoubaby · 29/09/2021 15:20

I honestly think KS is just as crap as Boris.
