what do centaurs do with their human arms when they're galloping Grin

I got asked this by a child in my work today and I was completely stumped 😂 do they do T. rex arms? Go on mumsnet tell me what you think Centaurs do with their human arms when they're galloping so I can report back tomorrow. (Hospital ward young child extremely unwell all around and I told them id do some serious research)

When I read the first sentence of your post my head automatically pictured one with its hands on its hips.

Palavah · 24/09/2021 22:14

Centaurs quite often have bows and arrows to fire, so they might be doing that while they gallop/carrying the bow and arrow.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 24/09/2021 22:15

I think they pump their arms like a human runner, for extra traction. Either that or do showy-offy jazz hands to demonstrate how superior their horsey legs are!

Definitely on hips when they do centaur dressage

Oh, this is good.
ClaireUnderwoodforPresident · 24/09/2021 22:16

Best thread ages. I'd say elbows tight into body with fists clenched? Almost like a charge motion Grin

Sirzy · 24/09/2021 22:16

I think they use them like humans would when running to help make themselves faster

HagridHair · 24/09/2021 22:16

@Palavah loving the idea of centaur dressage!! Thanks for these!

Brandishing bow and arrow.

pelosi · 24/09/2021 22:17

They swing the arms for balance innit. Like human runners.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 24/09/2021 22:17

Arms folded I think. Legs do all the running.

BluebellsareBlue · 24/09/2021 22:17

Def brandishing their bow and arrow!

Rainbowqueeen · 24/09/2021 22:17

I’m with @ClaireUnderwoodforPresident. That’s what I imagine too.

BlueberrySugar · 24/09/2021 22:17

Ah this was a video on TT and I remember seeing
'Middle fingers up on both hands flipping off the world as they gallop majestically into the sunset' brilliant.

CaitCaityCaitlin · 24/09/2021 22:17

Weirdly, I’m picturing a breast-stroke type motion

HagridHair · 24/09/2021 22:18

@BlueberrySugar I did wonder where this question came from! That answers a lot!! I have a feeling I might be try a few of these out tomorrow Grin. You know for artistic reasons, and anything to keep our patients happy!!

@HagridHair Kids are bloody brilliant 🤣
TonkinLenkicks · 24/09/2021 22:19

Hands in the air? Only thing scarier than one running at you is one running at you with erratically flailing arms

aquarius0126 · 24/09/2021 22:20

This has gave me a good laugh.

Kids ask the best questionsGrin

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 24/09/2021 22:20

They definitely use their arms to wield a bow and arrow whilst running

BlueberrySugar · 24/09/2021 22:20

Another answer was 'to hold coconuts in their hands to make the galloping noise' 🤣

thistimelastweek · 24/09/2021 22:20

I was all for arms folded then I saw @pelosi.

Obvs innit?

EatYourVegetables · 24/09/2021 22:20

Wave to their friends, shoot arrows / throw spears at their enemies.

If a boy centaur sees a girl centaur he likes, he flexes his pecs like a bodybuilder keeping the upper body really still while galloping past super fast.

HagridHair · 24/09/2021 22:21

These are brilliant thank you!

I love my job and I'm going to try and find the TikTok video that the child saw so we can try out those too.
