To think Ant and Dec belong in an episode of Black Mirror?

Does anyone else find them to be caricatures of themselves lately? And if you mention you don’t like them to people online (like on comments pages) their fans start bullying you. Like their fans seem properly brainwashed and really defensive.

This isn’t a personal attack on them, I just find them and their fan base very….odd.

This makes me so happy!! I can dislike them even more now 😂[/quote]
Yes you can Grin And people will love you for it Grin

PooWillyNameChange · 24/09/2021 19:15

They're not funny at all. I haven't seen them on TV for years (haven't had live TV for years so easy to avoid the drivel!) but sounds like they haven't got any better.

CliftonGreenYork · 24/09/2021 19:23

I think they are beloved by the same people who:

  • Love Mrs Browns Boys.
  • Think BGT is the best thing on tv.
  • Buy giant tubs of quality street each weekend.
  • Have Poppy frames around their facebook pics (all year round).
  • Start conversations with "I'm not been funny, but".
Againstmachine · 24/09/2021 19:37

I agree especially with the Mrs brown's boys.

Hihelp · 24/09/2021 19:42

Omg, is buying the Quality Street every weekend a thing? I swear I’ve just had childhood memory flashbacks of the 80’s of going to friend’s houses and people doing this. Not us, because my mum wouldn’t even let us eat a chocolate more than 3/4 times a year Grin

Yup, correct!
LukeEvansWife · 24/09/2021 19:49

And watch any reality involving Katie Price!

Looubylou · 24/09/2021 20:00

I liked them years ago but they come across as trying too hard now - I can't watch them. I do think Dec seems nice though. Ant seems too self centered. I'd go as far as to say, possibly a nasty piece of work. The continuous awards are ridiculous - surely they realise that themselves?

grafittiartist · 24/09/2021 20:08

Love Ant and Dec- I don't care what you all say.
And I love Quality street too. So there

GreatPotato · 24/09/2021 20:10

I haven't watched anything they've done for years but when I did watch that kind of TV I thought they were actually decent presenters, but for me presenters just present the show, they're not "stars". How did that happen?

I've never seen Black Mirror either. It sounds like something I should investigate!

I also don't understand why he was allowed to return after the drink driving. Role model being practically in the job description when others would have lost their job for the same offence.

BelleOfTheProvince · 24/09/2021 20:19

Black mirror is good, but obviously a bit dark. If you like Inside Number 9 you'll like it. If you like Mrs Brown's Boys, possibly not.

My family only ever got QS at Christmas. The tin has got smaller and the price has gone up since then.

Againstmachine · 24/09/2021 20:19

Whilst I hate them

Ant to me seems a bit of a vile vindictive character whilst Dec seems alright.

Againstmachine · 24/09/2021 20:22

Black mirror is exactly that a dark mirror on society.

dryasaboner · 24/09/2021 20:43

Surely buying quality street is only a Christmas thing?

Hihelp · 25/09/2021 07:15

@GreatPotato I really recommend Black Mirror. There’s different stories all set in a dystopian future..some stories you watch and think omg that’s happening now. Some episodes will shock you and have very twisted endings, and twisted stories that may make you feel uncomfortable. Written by Charlie Brooker, if you like him!

Haven't watched any of the later ones, watched the pig one.

Hihelp · 25/09/2021 09:36

I watched the pig one around the time David Cameron’s pig scandal came to light.

I watched the pig one recently.

What was David Cameron's pig scandal?

I've always thought A&D have tried to model themselves as a modern day very lame pastiche of Morecombe and Wise.

Which was always bound to fail on so many levels.

Hihelp · 25/09/2021 13:32

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/politics/2015/sep/21/david-cameron-piers-gaveston-society-what-we-know-oxford-secret

It’s a news article alleging but apparently he refuted the claims years later.
