So sorry I can't use the vote (haven't a clue how to do it)
The questions is clear.. A simple yes or no..... After the Queen dies should the Royal Family continue... Yes or no!

Yes.

rocklamp · 17/09/2021 19:34

No

WhatWouldKalindaDo · 17/09/2021 19:34

No. I am very much in favour of a Republic.

ajandjjmum · 17/09/2021 19:35

Yes

@AuntMasha

Not a royalist myself but I think it will continue in a more slimmed down capacity. I don’t think Charles will be king, but have a feeling the crown will go to William, who will be instrumental in carrying out a much-needed modernisation of the institution.
Charles will be king. Have you not noticed him at Queen's side at big events?

William doesn't even want to be king.

Vates · 17/09/2021 19:38

No.

Lancrelady80 · 17/09/2021 19:39

Yes

MindyStClaire · 17/09/2021 19:39

No, although the point about it being too soon for more conditional upheaval is a depressingly valid one.

If we’re picking and choosing, I vote for me. I’d happily take the role.

You don’t get to pick and choose though that the whole point, ‘they’ have been chosen by god. Therefore it’s Charles, and if not him well let’s get rid of the whole lot of them.

The whole thing is a scam, and it’s time they went.

RandomWordGenerator · 17/09/2021 19:45

No. It’s not fair on the people born into it.

I know it comes with riches and luxury. But how many celebrities are broken by fame and press intrusion, let alone social media. Particularly if they haven’t got the mindset to cope.

And celebrities mostly sought fame. Charlotte, George and Louis currently have no choice in the matter.

If you disagree about the impact of fame - particularly if you happen to be vulnerable from a mental health perspective- watch the documentary about Caroline Flack.

What interest you in the royal family though? They aren’t beacons of moral standard. They aren’t interesting, there is nothing special about them at all.
ofwarren · 17/09/2021 20:06

Yes

Maireas · 17/09/2021 20:12

Of course the Royal Family will continue.
The monarchy, however, is another matter.

SpecificPacific · 17/09/2021 20:17

No

The concept is totally outdated. I find them a complete embarrassment tbh.

Nonicknamesforcatapillars · 17/09/2021 20:18

Yes

AdoptedBumpkin · 17/09/2021 20:19

Yes. The last thing we need is a referendum on the monarchy on top of Brexit, Covid and all the other issues like Scottish independence.

DannyNedelko · 17/09/2021 20:19

Yes

Poetrypatty · 17/09/2021 20:31

The Queen is older than most people in the country and has a lot of respect for all she has done over the years.

Prince William on the other hand, I remember him toddling around on the Australia tour and don't particularly want him to reign over me thanks.

So YANBU I think Charles will be the last monarch and after a couple of years of him people will want to end the monarchy.

derxa · 17/09/2021 20:34

What interest you in the royal family though? They aren’t beacons of moral standard. They aren’t interesting, there is nothing special about them at all. I've known about them all of their lives. They're interested in farming and I'm a farmer. Zara and Anne are accomplished horse women. Stuff like that.

Evesgarden · 17/09/2021 20:35

Yes. Monarchies offer more stability than Republics.

I like the queen and wish that it would skip over to William but that's about it. However a Trump or another elected a-hole turning the country upside down every four years... no thanks. And that is my driving force behind wanting them to stay. No one in this country is higher than the queen/king and they tend to stay out of shit, having a political opinion and I really think it stops the elected officials who are supposed to be running the country get too big for their boots.

Can you imagine if some one Nicola Sturgeon was top person in this country - fucking hell...

Can you imagine if Boris was head guy of this country Shock

Yes there are bad apples in the Royal family who should be held to account but politicians are corruptible - which we see every day. I dont want them to lead us in to chaos. There always has to be some one higher than them.

Change isn't always good.

Blossomtoes · 17/09/2021 20:38

Yes.

I agree. And I wonder who is starting all these threads really as there are a lot. There is a lot to gain from destabilising us when we are hopefully coming out out of several years of shit.

Is it you Nicola who started this thread??

derxa · 17/09/2021 20:44

Can you imagine if some one Nicola Sturgeon was top person in this country - fucking hell... Fucking hell indeed. Mind you Oor Nick thinks she's Queen already.

Lil5106 · 17/09/2021 20:47

Yes - the income to the country as a whole from the royals is huge. I love the royal family anyway, but I find that all those who don't on the basis that they cost too much simply have never looked at the accounts published every year.
