Thread deletions

AIBU to think that there are more and more thread deletions these days.

Looking down my 'threads I'm on list' there are quite a few zapped threads, some which are deleted for obvious reasons, but some seemed quite innocuous at the time, like the thread about comments from teen girls on a group chat, one about someone being unhappy with their primary school etc. What on earth can have gone so wrong on these threads they need deleting?

OP posts:

@Goatling

I practically begged mn to take a thread of mine down as I had been outed in real life and it caused so much trouble it affected my mental health so badly. They didn't care a bit and refused to take it down.
I'm sorry to hear it, but it sounds like the harm was done by that point?

I can't remember the content now but it was quite a serious matter - I saw one deleted a couple of months back as 'it's not helping the op' op then posts again, upset her thread had been deleted as she'd had lots of helpful advice that she wanted to be able to refer back to.

@sst1234

Cancel culture at play. Some threads just get deleted because some people are offended that other have opinions
Nope, but nice paranoia you've got going there.

@Antinerak

What I want to know is why simple threads with clear opposing sides arguing are deleted but we have a whole section dedicated to transphobes being transphobic and anti-feminist that never gets deleted. Let us argue about how often we do our washing!
Yeah, fucking this. The answer, as we all know whether we accept it or not, is that MNHQ is full of transphobes. Watch this comment get deleted stat...

I get annoyed with the “op has real life concerns” when it’s obvious they just didn’t like the replies.

I had one deleted for that reason a few years ago. Primary School had implemented a new packed lunch policy and had banned humous. No explanation of why. I was bemused and posted a (tongue in cheek ) AIBU to ask how my precious first born was going to survive without his organic humous and breadsticks.

Lots of replies saying it was probably the sesame seeds and that the policy was entirely reasonable but poorly communicated. All fine.

Until I get a DM from a journalist at a national newspaper, asking me to name the school, name the Head teacher. Obviously fishing for a "middle class mums outraged at humous ban" story. So I asked MN to delete the thread and they obliged.
