I know it seems odd but I just want to right a bad cycle.
I really want to bring my kids up right but I’m just terrified I’ll go down the same way as my mother, hers before her and so on.

Always made me feel loved. Always fiercely defended me. Always supported me. Lots of cuddles and looking after me. Going the extra mile to do things she knew I would love like little gingerbread in my lunch as a treat etc. Treating me with respect and listening to my opinions. Having open communication with me. Loving me even when I have been harsh to her. Not stopping parenting me when I reached adulthood - still comes to clean when I'm on holiday, does Sunday dinner, if she sees something ill like tells me or picks it up - nothing extravagant but little things, still communicates well with me and checks I'm OK, supports me when needed.
