And the film crew are a pain in the arse Angry

They ask mates husband if he could leave as his van in the background didn’t fit in with the time period they were filming HmmGrin

ThomasHardyPerennial · 25/08/2021 18:32

Maybe other people are annoyed that you know where it is, nevermind the TV programme Grin.

FedNlanders · 25/08/2021 18:32

Bawdsey? It's driving me mad living locally.

FuzzyPuffling · 25/08/2021 18:33

Millook?

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 25/08/2021 18:34

Not that secret otherwise the film people wouldn't know about it. 😁

Tell the van man to say he'll move it for £50 a day

Strafficy · 25/08/2021 18:35

The only people who ever go there are locals. You have to park and walk in and it’s very easy to miss the path. Not sure how this bloody lot found out about it Sad

I resent feeling guilty that they all have to stop what they are doing whenever we turn up. We’ve been going for 15 years, I don’t want to feel like I’m inconveniencing people. I gave up last week and just let the kids get on with their normal playing and noise

Moonlaserbearwolf · 25/08/2021 18:37

What is the TV series? Maybe it won’t be any good and your secret will remain safe…

LadyRoughDiamond · 25/08/2021 18:38

@FedNlanders Yes, Bawdsey film traffic is turning into a pain in the arse.

Strafficy · 25/08/2021 18:41

I’m not telling. But yes it’s going to be AWFUL AND YOU SHOULD ALL TURN OVER

OP posts:
OverTheWater · 25/08/2021 18:41

The whole series?

A crew spent four days filming at the house over the road from us and it was on screen for about four minutes. There has been no influx of sightseers Grin

FedNlanders · 25/08/2021 18:44

It really is, hopefully not long left.

Moonlaserbearwolf · 25/08/2021 18:44

Don’t worry OP, we have quite a bit of filming here. Haven’t noticed an influx of tourists yet.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 25/08/2021 18:48

They made a film on the estate I grew up on. It was called summer and starred Robert Carlyle.
They chose our estate because they were looking for rough and manky and they still somehow made it look nicer than it actually is 🤣

I'd left years ago but my sister and parents still lived there and it was apparently the most excitement the estate had had in years 😁

If everyone keeps rocking up and inconveniencing them, it'll drive up production costs.

Just saying.

MiddleClassProblem · 25/08/2021 18:54

They either knew the location already or the location scout sources it from the local film office. They will be fully permitted but if you want to complain, do it to the film office and your local council.

gogohm · 25/08/2021 19:01

They have been filming on and off all summer here, parking is already difficult but on the plus side I could let my spare rooms on Airbnb Grin

ThorsLeftNut · 25/08/2021 19:01

They have Location scouts that go looking for these sort of spots or pay locals for information.
I live in a remote beauty spot and we were contacted about using some or our buildings and land as they’re been recommended to a location scout to use.
I love seeing on tv, it’s excellent!

Although my village wasn't impacted by this, my Son, who lives a bit out of the village and has an old spreading property, had a film crew, for a tv series, who wanted to use his house for some filming. They only wanted to use one largish room for filming,, and they completely emptied this room, containing some furniture, and loads and loads of his many computer items, and loads of music items, he dabbles in composing stuff and all sorts,

The film crew moved all his stuff, and carried it into some largish outbuildings that he has past the house. Then some big furniture was taken in this room of the house, furniture to fit the period of the film,

Outside up from the house, they had put a catering vehicle for the crew and actors, and all sorts of filming gear etc.. His house is away from the country road, near some woods. so didn't affect any neighbours etc.

When the series was on TV, the filmed bit at my Sons house, was shot in semi darkness, and lasted about 4 minutes, and that was it.

The TV crew then had to carry all my sons stuff back to his house, pack up and go. He got paid quite well for this, and stayed outside to watch what was going on, and to keep his two dogs out of the way.

I don't know how the tv people scouted out his house, and find these places.

Probably found out about it from other people posting about it on forums where threads are regularly shared by tabloids...
TheFlis12345 · 25/08/2021 19:13

Please don’t deliberately sabotage them as some posters have suggested. Like many others, the filming industry has been on its knees for much of the last 18 months and many people I know have already lost jobs. Nobody should me making things worse for any struggling industry.

MiddleClassProblem · 25/08/2021 19:15

@TheFlis12345 totally agree

isseys4xmastinselcats · 25/08/2021 19:18

i live in Halifax and film crews seem to have decided that there is enough locations to film four different series its interesting watching them and recognising localities

TakeYourFinalPosition · 25/08/2021 19:19

Somewhere very local to us was in a BBC thing last year. The village got all excited about the influx of tourists coming… they came while there was celebrities filming, but it hasn’t been noticeable busier since.

They used my street for a Victorian slum in a Catherine Cookson film once! They put mud on the road to hide the tarmac and built a fake house at the end to hide the obviously modern buildings beyond, but pretty much left the rest as it was.

There were a few derelict buildings which I guess they filmed mostly, and I know it wasn't the best road in town, but a Victorian slum! Blush
