It’s going to be ruined 😠

OP posts:
PineapplePanda · 25/08/2021 20:45

Love Leslie Mann. Let me know if she's as nice as she comes across!

FlibbertigibbetArmadillo · 25/08/2021 20:49

The Larkin's?

Meatshake · 25/08/2021 20:52

@Grilledaubergines

Do you watch any tv yourself, OP?

Because everywhere external has a filming location. Presumably you’re fine with other people being affected, just not you?

I hope there’s a fucking great influx of visitors there.

Who pissed on your chips?
StillSmallVoice · 25/08/2021 20:59

Was very excited wandering into the market square on a Sunday afternoon to find it taken over by a Bollywood film crew.

Onairjunkie · 25/08/2021 21:00

@toocold54

My house has been used as a filming location for a couple of crime dramas.

Wow that’s amazing! I’ve never heard of anyone having their house used before!

Yeah it’s really cool. You have to switch off a bit and try not to feel precious and just let them do their thing, but they’re always really accommodating to you and we met all the cast. And they invited us to use the catering, which was fun for a few days.
EastWestWhosBest · 25/08/2021 21:11

The woman who’s house was used for Uncle Bryn in Gavin and Stacey posts on here sometimes.

My parents village was used in a film. They closed the pub while they filmed so dad set one up in his garage.

FedNlanders · 25/08/2021 22:21

@GreenTortoise

Quick google tells you it's called The Power and an amazing series. They've been building since June though..
I am local to this and I asked OP of it was Bawdsey and she implied it wasn't. So no, not that obvious lol
SheriffCallie · 25/08/2021 22:26
@caoraich I don't suppose it was Game of Thrones you're talking about? The Dark Hedges? They're going to be ruined by the tourists going there Sad
Ooh, see I was thinking Ballintoy Harbour. We live near one of the lesser known GoT sites. No crowds as such, but the occasional badly parked car on a country road, and I do worry about someone being clipped.

MargaretThursday · 25/08/2021 22:33

We've had a couple on our estate recently. One really made me laugh. It was a US film company that came to UK to film and filmed in our UK estate a scene that they spent time, money and effort into changing to look like it was in the US...
Grin

The other was more exciting, as we saw the notice and guessed what it was-and it's one the dc want to see. They transformed a house for it, and we "innocently" wandered past the day before, and I asked if I could take a photo. They initially wavered, but I promised not to put it on the internet, and they let me, so the dc were very excited to have that.
I did ask if they'd come and do my house up afterwards, but they refused. Sad
However they were really nice when we passed. I got a nice chat going with the chap who was in charge of road control and he always waved me through after that. Grin

Jemand · 25/08/2021 22:56

@Strafficy

I resent feeling guilty that they all have to stop what they are doing whenever we turn up. We’ve been going for 15 years, I don’t want to feel like I’m inconveniencing people. I gave up last week and just let the kids get on with their normal playing and noise
It's only for a few weeks, presumably. It can't be that terrible?

No but you're probably right about there too. This is part of the Outlander pilgrimage.

But now people who don't know the show drive past and see all these cars randomly parked on the verges and go for a look too. Then all the people being winched out by mountain rescue are in the news, thus attracting more idiots who somehow think the BBC news app is also a travel guide Confused

Alternista · 25/08/2021 23:42

Bawdsey is hardly a secret, anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

EastWestWhosBest · 25/08/2021 23:46

The op hasn’t said it’s Bawdsey. It’s possible that there is more than one film crew filming right now.
airforsharon · 26/08/2021 00:06

DD was on a school camping trip in Pembrokeshire back in June, and when they went to a beach one morning they found a film crew, working away. DD did tell me what the film was called but blowed if i can remember now. The crew were lovely with the children, encouraged them to come over and watch what was going on. DD got to chat with the lead actor - apparently he was "very famous" but by the time she got home she'd forgotten his name :D

Winemeup · 26/08/2021 00:14

Do you own the land? No? Then they have just as much right as you to be there.

Speakeasy22 · 26/08/2021 22:44

A bit NIMBY I think, OP. Unless you never watch any films or tv.

FedNlanders · 26/08/2021 23:00

Its been manic busy here for at least a year now! 🤔 I did however speak to some of the film crew this AM who were absolutely lovely!

It's really weird they have build a fake house thing here and it's meant to look like the US. I don't get it
BeaucoupFish · 26/08/2021 23:04

Kefalonia was ruined by captain Corellis bloody mandolin
Had been going there for years before that and was there when they were filming

Feduphairymclary · 26/08/2021 23:37

The office I work in at a stadium was used to film a drama series. My DS had often accompanied me to work on a matchday and sat drawing pictures of the stadium, one of these was pinned to a noticeboard on the wall. The production company didn't change anything at all about the office (part of the story was that the characters worked for my employer) so when it was broadcast, DS's picture was clearly in shot.

DH was also shown in a different football based drama starting Ray Winstone - some scenes were shot on a proper matchday on the pitch, DH did security for the players and referee and was filmed. He wasn't paid as an extra though sadly.

Lessstressedhemum · 26/08/2021 23:48

Caoraich, I knew it would be Outlander. All the numpties going to visit "Lallybroch". I've been an Outlander addict for years and years but I cannot understand the obsession with visiting all the TV places. It's not as if they are actually really Lallybroch, Inverness etc.
The ones that really burn my biscuits, though, are the ones that go to Culloden to see the Fraser clan stone and tramp about laying memorials for Jamie 🙄
It's all so destructive.

Justanotherlurker · 26/08/2021 23:55

It's not worth the stealth brag, they had to re-decorate the greasy spoon, and the location was down to tax breaks not the scenery as that was available elsewhere.

You will be able to live on it being filmed locally for a couple of years though, it will be a nice conversation peice for you :D

trappedsincesundaymorn · 27/08/2021 00:38

Some of the scenes from Poldark were filmed where I live (not in Cornwall). I had to take a 5 mile detour every day going to and from work as the road I took was closed during filming.

Redsquirrel5 · 27/08/2021 00:53

We had Songs of Praise in our village. The crew were here for about a week. What I discovered was that they bring musicians and other people in. Why not use local talent. We had an experienced harpist, a school choir and someone who had a fantastic voice and made several CDs and had been on television yet they brought people from other areas including Wales.
I didn’t go as I worship at a different church but my friend did. She received a copy before it went out and I went to watch it. Some people that were on it never go to church there and it showed it full whereas the reality is about a dozen go. I wish I had copied it as my fired has since died and it would be lovely to see her smiling face and she was on it quite a lot.

They film in our county a lot so we often see film crews about. One village has a cobbled street and a hill and lots of old scenes are filmed there.

I guessed it would be the Outlander place where people keep getting injured.... I live in the middle of about 4 of the sites the used, further East. There’s now a steady stream of largely American middle aged ladies in minibuses EVERY DAY. Still, the local coffee shops, etc at least get decent business. It is amusing to spot the places we take the dog, etc. The French harbour location is a popular spot for us.
