Those who turned 50 last year - have you had an invite for your mammogram apt yet?

Just curious.

I know it’s not an AIBU question but this is a busy area so worth asking here.

I only ask as I know a couple of people who turned 50 this year (not in the same area) who have and it would be interesting to know if A, you’ve been invited since turning 50 and B, the area you live in (if possible).

I had to have surgery 10 years ago for an ‘issue’ that turned out to be benign but the result of surgery meant I had to have reconstructive surgery, so I feel a desire to have this check up.

Sorry for the overuse of surgery Blush

I'm turning 50 soon - when does the invite come through

FlamingGoat · 24/08/2021 18:01

I'm 52 this year and the only thing I've had is a poo sample tube in the post.

BikeRunSki · 24/08/2021 18:03

I was 50 towards the back end of last year. Got my mammogram invitation in the middle of July, went for it on Friday. All done in less than 10 min.

Iamanunsafebuilding · 24/08/2021 18:03

I turned 50 in May last year, received my mammogram invite last month, booked it for the following week and had the results 10 days later. I'm in Swindon

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:03

I’ve no idea tbh.

One friend had hers a few months after turning 50 (this year) but she’s in a different LA.

Presumed the invite automatically comes sometime after you turn 50 but in my case it’s almost 17 months later and no invite.

I’ve been invited every three years since 47 (that was part of a trial apparently). Was 47 and 4 months when I got my first invite. Also lots of my friends seemed to be invited at the same time as if it was by area. So different ages but living in the same town.

BanburyBun · 24/08/2021 18:04

I was 50 in May last year and haven’t been called yet either (Bucks)

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:05

@FlamingGoat that made me laugh! Something to look forward to, although having Crohn’s I’m used to that! 😆

yes, invited, checked, letter saying all clear, all done

Iamnotminterested · 24/08/2021 18:07

I was invited to be part of an Early Detection pilot (or something like it) 2 years ago when I was 48. Got the results a couple of weeks later, all fine.

I'm in Cheshire.

Pericombobulations · 24/08/2021 18:07

50 last June, in lincolnshire, no invite yet.

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:08

Really interesting that lots of you have had the invite.

Think I need to contact my GP surgery, see what the score is.

No nothing here and I'm 51 now.

HairyPotter · 24/08/2021 18:11

I’m 52 soon and haven’t had anything (apart from the bowel screening poo box)

HopelesslyOptimistic · 24/08/2021 18:33

I'm 51 and it's in the diary next month.

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:40

Glad that some of you have been able to have your mammogram, good to know that some LA’s are able to continue inviting in a timely manner!

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:40

Not in a sarcastic way, just good to know that some areas are managing to offer the invite on time.

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:43

Despite the current climate!

I got told you get an appt within 3 years of turning 50. I had my first screening a couple of months ago, and I'm 52.

DollyLostHerBrolly · 24/08/2021 18:48

@TurquoiseDragon that’s interesting, I wasn’t aware of that. I just assumed it wouldn’t be long after you turned 50.

Thank you.

God I can't wait to turn 50 😒
MatildaTheCat · 24/08/2021 18:54

I’m in SW London and here the GP surgeries are on a three year rotation so it depends on your practice. I had my first invitation at 48.

I had one last summer and it was on schedule despite Covid.

timetochangeagainforever · 24/08/2021 18:56

Yes I have - I'm in north Kent
