Things you’ve bought that have essentially changed your life for the better.

For me, it’s a swim dress. Basically a swimming costume with a little skirt that just covers the bikini line. Flattering, hides my stomach and most importantly it doesn’t matter if my bikini line is needing a little attention. It has completely taken the stress out of taking the kids swimming and now we go all the time Smile

Other game changers for me include the perfect prep (🥰), L’Oréal eight-second wonder water, and Pinch of Nom.

The GHD straighteners that I purchased in 2004 which are still going strong.

My £100 Which Best Buy coffee machine which means I never have to spend £££ on coffee in London anymore, since I work from home. *Lavazza Jolie Plus in case anyone cares

Tarte Shape tape concealer which covers a multitude of sins!

Yes, hurts!
Yes works brilliantly!
I used to be threaded before which hurt too, and this is just as good and is quick!

smallgoon · 25/08/2021 20:01

ooh and my bidet toilet. I don't think I could ever go back. Love having my bum washed Grin

@peaceanddove

A few more:

I love plants.....too much. I always over water and kill them. So I have replaced them with incredibly life like faux ones. You honestly cannot tell they're not real (and I have very high standards). All the pleasure with none of the stress.

A really nice overnight bag with a big, matching toiletries bag. It's always kept stocked with minatures of all my potions & lotions, spare phone charger and clean underwear.

My make up bag from The Flat Lay Co. It. Is. Amazing. It folds out into a shallow tray that sits on your dressing table, you can easily see all your stuff, no rooting around - then you can instantly zip it up closed, and it becomes a make up bag with a little carrying handle. Love it so much

Just added one of these make up bags to my birthday list! Is it compact enough to fit in a handbag? I can’t tell from the pics.

I thought when I had my lip threaded last I was going to scream 😂 and I had been told before I had a high pain threshold 🙈

@LoveFall

Instant Pot

Use it all the time for stock, soups, beans, stews, porridge, you name it.

A beginner watercolour set.

What's an instant pot?
peaceanddove · 25/08/2021 20:09

@tappitytaptap it folds down to be quite compact, roughly 9 inches by 7 inches, I'd say?

Willowkins · 25/08/2021 20:11

Cat litter tray liners. Changing the litter takes a fraction of the time now.

Pearl97 · 25/08/2021 20:12

the dehumidifier collects the water ... it is amazing when you empty it and realise that would all be in your house!!!

wildthingsinthenight · 25/08/2021 20:19

Portable air con units for bedrooms. So worth the initial outlay!

You can use the collected water to fill your iron too as it’s a close to distilled water as you can get so great way of avoiding lines ale build up in your iron. I also use it it to water my house plants
OverweightPidgeon · 25/08/2021 20:23

Weighted blanket, I sleep so much better and it has helped reduce night sweats.

@CallmeBadJanet

I second *@LoveFall*. Use the Instant Pot all the time. Oven is now a warming cupboard.

Magazine and E-book apps (Pressreader/Libby/BorrowBox) from my local library service have changed my life.

Reusing glass jars (with lids) for food prep/storage.

Having just 2 lipsticks

But which two lipsticks? Grin

A super king bed but with 2 separate double duvets. One each for me and DH. Can still cwtch if we want but I like to tuck the duvet around me. It's prevented so many arguments 👌

@Fluffycloudland77

I’m another with a kobo after swearing I’d never read e books but the paper books are beige coloured now not white so I can’t see well at night. The kobo means I read more and for free using overdrive.

The soupmakers marvellous, I had cream of cauliflower for lunch and it was so delicious. £1 of frozen caulk does 6 portions.

Can you post the soup recipe please.
dopeyduck · 25/08/2021 20:34

@NotThatSocial - I need that hairbrush in my life! My hair is a nightmare and just as you described!

Do you have a link?

macshoto · 25/08/2021 20:35

Neato Robot Vacuum - can be started remotely over the internet, draws a map to show what it was able to clean.

Instant Pot (again!)

Espresso machine and coffee grinder
(Londonium L1 and HG-One grinder in this case)

Line of sight ISP (went from 0.6Mbps to 20Mbps in a rural area with no 3/4G signal)

Gardener (fortnightly - mostly mowing and strimming - we have about an acre and a half so it took hours)

Cleaner (weekly)

just a comment that robo lawnmowers don't stop for hedgehog legs....

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 25/08/2021 20:38

Cannot thank you all enough!

All the Christmas thinking is DONE from this thread. I have nothing to offer I'm afraid besides Eufy the robo vac. I set him off every night and come down to a nice, fresh environment in the mornings.
He changed my life, I love him dearly, he saved my relationship with the hound, and he is in the will!!

MayLeaveADentInYourSofa · 25/08/2021 20:40

100% robot vacuum and I can see I'm not the first to say this!

MapleMay11 · 25/08/2021 20:46

Tretinoin - for the skin of my dreams!
