Just sent the plumber a bossy yet personal text for my husband (they have same first name) saying ‘love you 💕 please email Mary again to do xyz sorry for being so bossy LOVE YOU xxx etc’

MORTIFICATION.

Aargh! Have deleted entire conversation but will plumber still have got it do i need to send a apologetic message?!

AIBU to think someone here can give me high speed advice?!

Oooo you may have been better to delete the individual message rather than the whole convo... He may still get it I reckon! But luckily he'll definitely realise that's a wrong number... Unless you've been bossy to your plumber and he also needs to email someone called Mary! At least it wasn't a dirty message Wink

Okaygreatthanks · 19/08/2021 10:17

I am SO GLAD it wasn’t dirty as I love the plumber (in a professional, respect-your-work way) and would prefer to keep highly productive relationship with him! In the very stressful stages of a reno project and amazing tradesmen are like unicorns!

JuneOsborne · 19/08/2021 10:17

I'd just send a quick message, with something like

Oops, sorry, obvs that wasn't for you! Blush emoji.

Okaygreatthanks · 19/08/2021 10:18

Ps @ReeseWitherfork great GREAT name

SmidgenofaPigeon · 19/08/2021 10:18

How? Even with the same first name I don’t see how this happened.

mygenericusername · 19/08/2021 10:19

Argh. The old if I delete it, throw the phone out of the window and smash it to a million pieces technique.

At least you didn’t text the plumber complaining about the plumber. I own that badge.

FlorenceNightshade · 19/08/2021 10:19

Just own it! Text him and say sorry obviously that was meant for my husband with the same name! Then change his name in your phone to Plumber Pete instead of Pete and that will avoid mixups in future

@SmidgenofaPigeon have you never made a mistake in your life?
Okaygreatthanks · 19/08/2021 10:24

On an iPhone when you are sending tons of messages via WhatsApp and iMessage at the same time plus waiting for the gas people to phone you back it is only TOO EASY. Normally when I type first letter of DH name his number comes up but because I had JUST texted plumber his name must have come up instead. And I just hit it as was distracted.

OP posts:
CanofCant · 19/08/2021 10:25

Is he called Garry? Grin

Okaygreatthanks · 19/08/2021 10:26

All fine I think, message was inane though full of pink hearts (was delivering the shit sandwich of something DH has to do TODAY even though he is trapped in meetings), plumber is cool and has very dry sense of humour so have relaxed slightly.

OP posts:
CanofCant · 19/08/2021 10:27

Just apologise to him, it's a common error and he will probably think it's funny. Our school WhatsApp group forever has texts intended for husbands in them!

Okaygreatthanks · 19/08/2021 10:27

He is not called Garry sadly, no.

OP posts:
JudgeJerry · 19/08/2021 10:27

I'd just say 'oops sorry that wasn't meant for you!'. I doubt he will be bothered.

I do it all the time, I know people wonder how but I always manage it. Usually when I've just been messaging someone, get distracted and then send something for another person on the same chat I've just been on.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 19/08/2021 10:29

Obviously yes @MattHancocksSexTape Hmm

Makes more sense now the OP said that, I was just picturing my IPhone message inbox which is quite clearly a conversation with DH, and wondering why I’d have then gone into a different convo with a totally different person to text them instead.

nonevernotever · 19/08/2021 10:29

@mygenericusername I've done that too - accidentally sent my personal trainer a message from a mutual friend complaining about the personal trainer.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 19/08/2021 10:29

It's hardly mortifying. Confused Clearly a 'wrong number' text and it's not like there was a nude attached or you said you want to ride his beautiful knob like a bronco. Chill!

Bluesheep8 · 19/08/2021 10:29

How? Even with the same first name I don’t see how this happened.

How? All too easily, unfortunately.

girlmom21 · 19/08/2021 10:29

Hahaha he's definitely still getting the message but I love that you deleted the whole conversation in a blind panic Grin

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/08/2021 10:30

People keep getting messages from me in different language meant for my family (and vice versa)😂 fat fingers and before i realise it's sent. Friends have good fun with translating them🤦

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 19/08/2021 10:30

@CanofCant

I had a Garry type in my house a few months ago. I bought him donuts. Blush

Just let the plumber think you love him. You might get a discount.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/08/2021 10:30

They are folowed by "soz"😂

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 19/08/2021 10:30

If it was an iMessage and it was already delivered it won't be deleted at his end. You can delete a WhatsApp.

It's happened to me more than once. Even with people with different names.
MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 19/08/2021 10:33

I shouldn’t worry-I sent DS’s rugby coach (instead of DH) that DS had done such a massive shit in the upstairs toilet that it was like a baby’s arm waving and could he come sort it out?!!! DS had a whole load of rugby lads taking the piss out of him after that and the coach thought it hilarious so I shouldn’t worry!
