I’ve heard children speaking in my dds room when she’s the only child, there was no tv etc that could have made the voices

Yes! Thank you 😊

@ItsAliveItsElectric
Haven’t read the full thread yet - but so weird - 19/8/21 22.08
I had the exact same experience- was about to step out onto a crossing having just dropped the kids at school.
Something pulled me back - I really felt that. Next thing a car whizzed through the crossing - it would have killed or seriously injured me. (Probably killed).
Made me believe in Guardian Angels again - not something you hear much about these days.

I couldn’t believe when you wrote the exact same experience- I actually checked the user name!

When I was at Uni I left my room 10 minutes before my lecture started to walk to the classroom (according to the clock in my room, was pre mobiles). When I arrived there was nobody else outside and the door was closed. I waited for a while but nobody else came and I realised I could hear a lecture going on inside. I was definitely at the right place as it was a weekly lecture so I opened the door and saw it was MY lecture so I sneaked in thinking it had just started. It was a bit strange as I had set off in plenty of time to get there but THEN I realised that the lecture was well underway and when I looked at the clock I saw there was only 10 minutes left!
So basically a 10 minute walk had taken me 40 minutes despite me not stopping and going straight there - no idea what happened to those lost 30 minutes
The obvious answer is that the clock in my room was wrong but when I got back there and checked on my watch (which I hadn’t worn) and my friend next door my clock was right!

gindreams · 21/08/2021 08:18

Mine isn't quite so scary...

I stayed at my aunts house not long after her husband died l, and was sleeping in the front room I was woken by the light suddenly turning on by jtself

I though it must be my uncles way of saying he is still here but was too sacred to say anything

Years later I was staying with my aunty again chatting to her in the front room when the light turned off by itself again

Ahh that will be the timer she said, and she pissed herself laughing when I told her I had though the room was haunted for years

HoppingPavlova · 21/08/2021 08:25

ReallyNeedToPrioritiseMe I am another. Wasn’t paying attention, lost in thought and would have stepped in front of a bus. I was grabbed by the back of my jumper and yanked backwards. A guy rushed up and said something to the effect of ‘oh my god, I thought it was going to hit you’ and I thought I must have misjudged and he was there initially and was the one who pulled me back and thanked him. He said it wasn’t him and I said who was it as it was weird someone would do that and sprint off, and he said it wasn’t him I just went backwards really quickly and he was amazed I did it. I thought he was fibbing but he was adamant it wasn’t him but someone/something definitely did it. Either the guy, for whatever weird reason was lying or a guardian angel?

When Ddad passed away recently, DH was putting photos together on a disc for the funeral. When he went back to his laptop, one of my favourite photos of dad had become the screen-saver...ShockDH is not remotely woo and we both know you have to actively save a picture for that to happen... Also, a few months later when I was taking a first (difficult) trip to a favourite family holiday place - Dad's pic, taken IN that place, fell off the wall as I was leaving the house. There were lots of photos on the wall, but it was THAT one. I felt like he was coming with me - it was comforting...

@Brimorion I'm so sorry I didn't seem something that was more interesting or believable to you. This thread was about spooky moments. That was one of my spooky moments.

ReallyNeedToPrioritiseMe · 21/08/2021 09:28

@HoppingPavlova (great name), amazing that we’ve had such similar experiences. No one told me if I actually went backwards- but I definitely felt something

SwimmingUnderwater · 21/08/2021 09:33

My father was the least ‘woo’ person yiu could ever think of. He was extremely rational. He told me in a very matter of fact way that he had nearly drowned in a swimming pool as a child . He was at the bottom of the pool and knew he was going to die when an Angel pulled him out . He was quite definite about that. Not a person, an Angel.

SwimmingUnderwater · 21/08/2021 09:51

@aworldofourown

I live 200 miles away from my family. I regularly call, if they don't answer the phone, I think nothing of it and go about my daily life, when they ring back they ring back and if they don't, it's again no big deal. Except one day I rang my sister, she didn't answer the phone and I don't know what or why but I had a very strong feeling of something has happened, something isn't right, I was so anxious, j was shaking, (I was pregnant at the time) I rang my mum who didn't answer either, still feeling like somethings not right, I then ring my older brother, no answer so I then ring my younger brother who breaks the news to me and I just burst out screaming and crying. I have never felt the way I did that day, how did I know something must've happened, it's very normal for my sister to miss my call and then will ring me at a later time, but that day every ounce of my body was feeling like something isn't right, which is why I started ringing every other family member til someone answered
What had happened to your sister?
ElleGee1 · 21/08/2021 09:51

Another weird one to add. I tend to ‘feel’ when things are wrong with family and friends. A sense something isn’t right, usually when we are apart.
The weirdest and unforgettable example of this was when dh and I were on holiday, having breakfast on the balcony at 8am ish and I had this absolutely overwhelming feeling of sadness, sick to the stomach, like my heart was breaking and I knew something was wrong at home. There was no indication anything was wrong before we left.
Fastforward to speaking to my parents on the phone.. they tried not to tell me as I was on holiday but I managed to get them to tell me that the police came through the door to arrest my 16yo brother on suspicion of murder.. what time? 8am that morning of course ….Shock .. always listen to your gut !

SwimmingUnderwater · 21/08/2021 09:58

@Audit

I just had the strongest, unexplainable feeling that I shouldn't enter the house. I was desperate for a wee but I just knew I couldn't go in. It's hard to explain but I just KNEW something awful was going to happen if I went inside. It was like a warning coming from the very core of my being. There was no way I could have gone in, I can't explain it. It was such an intense certainty.

I had a similar strong feeling when staying in a very old farmhouse in Somerset. It was a bed and breakfast servicing a small touristy village. The owners were out for the afternoon and I had wandered upstairs into a far wing of the house, little used, but part of the guests' area. At the end on the left was a bathroom which I was heading for. Opposite the bathroom door was a short flight of steps to a door leading to a long thin bedroom. That room was rarely used and the door was normally locked.

Just as I was about to turn into the bathroom I had the most terrifying sensation. I can only describe it as being a message from some higher power imploring me not to turn and look towards the bedroom. It was such a strong sensation, it was as if I had no power to disobey. I stood stock still staring ahead into the bathroom and out of the window at the fields and hills above the village. This sensation was driving me on to keep my face forward. It was so weird, this feeling of needing to count the trees, the rooves, draw an imaginary line around the clouds and branches - anything to take my mind away from the thing at the bedroom. I have never known any sense so strong, so purposeful and so protective.

After about 10 minutes (but felt like a lifetime) of standing stock still, sweat dripping down me, I sensed the bad presence and the good powerful presence starting to wane. Really weird, but at that precise moment a blackbird flew fast into the bathroom through the open window and perched on the wide window ledge. It's eyes were wide and bright, its chest heaving after landing. It kept blinking and looking at me.

The sensations were not quite over, but the blackbird had interrupted my train of thought. In a flash I thought I had imagined it all, so confidently turned away to look at the bedroom and the small steps leading up to it. What I saw was truly terrifying, before it vanished infront of me. That image stays with me forever. I am not going to go into detail because there are sensitive readers on this site. The real story is in the powerful presence, like the poster above, that strong sense coming from somewhere else that looks over you. Very weird but comforting also.

I really want to know what you saw! We used to live in a large rambling very old house. It had a lot of history. On the top floor my son had his bedroom . He was the only person who had a bedroom there. Our bedroom was on the floor below, at the other end of the corridor. One night I was away and OH was there alone. My son was at Uni some way away. Footsteps started walking back and forth in the top landing. OH was in bed and could hear them above him. He listened for a while in consternation, the went to investigate. He walked along the landing in the top floor towards my sons room. The door was closed and OH suddenly got the most awful feeling of dread. Something was telling him not to Go in that room. It was like his hackles were up. He turned round and went back to bed. One of my other children always said there were something on that landing that wasn’t right.
@chainjane I love this. Have you read about timeslips? My DH experienced one a few years ago.
What happened?

zingally · 21/08/2021 10:05

This is my dad's story.

My mum and dad used to enjoy going to look round old church yards. They liked reading the inscriptions on the graves, and just enjoyed being out and about.

One afternoon they were just outside the church yard of a village church. Dad looked down the street and saw a man in his late-middle age, carrying a scythe over his shoulder, walking down the road, from the direction of the church, heading away from it. Like he'd been working in the church yard, and was now off home.

Dad glanced away for literally a second, and when he looked back, the man with the scythe had gone. There was honestly nowhere the man could have gone that quick, that would have taken him out of sight.

Dad was absolutely certain it was a ghost. Apparently the man LOOKED real enough, but there was "something" about him that made dad want to look again, and then the man was gone.

floridana · 21/08/2021 10:10

I love hearing about other people's time slip stories because I'm sure I experienced one recently. I live at the end of a cul de sac but if I look out of the living room window I can see to the end of the street. One day last summer I looked out while I was cleaning the blind and saw my neighbour unloading shopping bags from her car and my other neighbour and his little girl walking up the road. I went to the other side of the room to dust the tv cabinet and was probably doing so for about a couple of minutes when I went back to pick up the cleaning spray from the windowsill and saw both neighbours still in exactly the same places they were before. The man and his daughter were walking on exactly the same part of the pavement and the lady was still putting her bags on the ground next to her car. I suppose the only explanation is they both momentarily stopped what they were doing for whatever reasons and resumed as I walked back to the window, but it had me spooked and very confused!

Hi

I just want to say,when you feel afraid,put a cloak of protection around yourself and ask for your Angel to help.
Those of you who may mess with a Ouija board,DONT!!unless you are fully trained.You will be opening the door to anyone,it's akin to leaving your front door wide open.
Spirits are people who have passed on,some say goodbye,others leave quietly.Some visit and watch over loved ones and may try to gain your attention or might equally just watch.
You can seek advice from a spiritual church of you are worried.
These spirits sometimes don't realise they have passed so need help crossing.
You can,clearly speaking,ask them to leave,wear crystals for protection,Tourmaline is great for psychic protection.
Those of you who have been saved by your guardian Angel or spirit guide,remember to thank them.Always listen to your gut instincts.

Driving home with (now ex) husband one night, no alcohol but it was after midnight. He suddenly hit the brakes because we were headed straight towards an old stone wall....except we drove straight on through it. This was the road going past 'Old Sarum', the remains of the old city of Salisbury. That wall WAS there, we both saw it, I put my arms in front of my face because we were going to hit it.

YerAWizardHarry01 · 21/08/2021 11:19

I have so many!

In my flat with my friend the fridge and cupboard doors always used to just sit wide open.

I made my bed every day without fail, stood at the bottom, grabbed the end of the duvet where the buttons are and made it from there and 6 days out of 7 when I came back the duvet had rotated 90 degrees so the buttons were on the side but still neat, on occasion my bedside clock would also have been turned around to face the wall.

In my parents house I was once happily chatting away to my mum (sleepily i may add) and she left, asked her in the morning why she had come in to chat at such a random hour and it turns out she hadn't.. but there was definitely someone in my room. My phone in the same house also started playing music at 3am.

In my new house we couldn't find my sons dummy in his travel cot he was sleeping in as we had just moved in, pulled the entire lot out of his cot, blanket, pillow, sheet, flicked them all about and gave up, assumed he had chucked it out so I remade the bed and rolled over, looked back in the cot after a few minutes and it was neatly in the centre of his pillow.

Same thing happened downstairs except my partner had taken his dummy and put it 0n the arm of the sofa, it disappeared and then reappeared a short while later in the centre of his pillow in his cot again.

A different house with a friend and we were in the front room and heard a smash from the kitchen, went to the back of the house to check and a load of dishes had just smashed all over the floor by themselves.

Moral of these stories.. I am the one that is haunted.

I've got 2. One was shortly after giving birth to my third child. I was sleeping downstairs with my son in the Moses basket as it was easier for feeding and didn't want the baby waking my older children.

This one might I woke at around 3am to see a solid black shadow going out of the room. I thought my husband had come down stairs during the night but when I spoke to him the next morning hadn't been up at all. I'm convinced now it was my dad(who had passed) coming to visit the baby. My mom had a similar experience of this solid shape before me and said that she was talking to it as it was in her doorway. She again thought my husband had come to visit(don't know why we always thought it was him! But when she went downstairs the house was locked.

Another time was during a miscarriage. I was very poorly and I'm convinced I was on my way as taking and sounds went into the background and I could hear my mom's voice who had died the year before say my name and say come on you can do it. I'm convinced my mom sent me back because shortly after that experience all noise in the room came back.

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 21/08/2021 11:40

@Shehasadiamondinthesky

In my old pre-war house I started hearing people talking at night and their were shadowy figures on the stairs. I lived alone at the time. The cats did not seem bothered by this at all. Turned out I was having a mental breakdown and having hallucinations. I'm on appropriate medication now and don't see or hear anything anymore. According to my psychiatrist 1 in 10 people have seen or heard hallucinations which seem very real in periods of stress. I think this might explain many ghostly happenings.
I think the opposite is true. When you are mentally ill you are more able to see and be attuned to 'the other side'.

I have had several experiences when under extreme stress. I know there is no way of proving it one way or the other though.
