I’ve heard children speaking in my dds room when she’s the only child, there was no tv etc that could have made the voices

I was in my cousins house and she had given me her room.
I couldn't sleep in it and called her and basically asked her.
Who was the old woman in Victorian clothing was.

She had no idea but when she moved in it was full of activity.
Until she got pissed one night and told them to fuck off😂.

But she had terrible bad luck in that house.
She was even pushed down the stairs

@MydogWillow I'm so intrigued about what @Audit saw as I have zero clue what it could be but I have a feeling it'll terrify the crap out of me...

Agreed!

I have a couple of strange timeslip ones. Years ago I was sat in our flat in London and heard an aircraft overhead. I ignored it thinking it was just normal London noise, but it sounded different and older. I then heard a whistling sound and a massive explosion, followed by more whistling and explosions. Then as soon as it started it was over. This was after the London terrorist attack in 2007 but I sort of knew that is wasn't from this time, even though it felt real. I wasn't scared or anything just felt curious. I think I'm probably more freaked now than I was at the time.

The second one was when I was watching the boat race and saw the ending two hours before it began. It was exactly as I saw it as well.

I too am wondering what @Audit saw, but I think I'm probably too scared to ask.

ScrumptiousBears · 20/08/2021 20:54

I was babysitting my younger sister the night the zeebrugge ferry disaster happened. She was fast asleep upstairs and I saw the news which detailed what was happening. A short time later sister woke up crying saying she had a bad dream that a big boat sunk and people drowned. Probably coincidence but I couldn't wait for my parents to come back home Confused

diamondpony80 · 20/08/2021 21:03

I used to hear footsteps on the carpet in my bedroom in the middle of the night when I was a teenager. Also my radio used to just switch itself on. My mum would come in and get mad at me for listening to the radio in the middle of the night but I was sound asleep. I always thought the room was haunted but she insisted I was turning on the radio in my sleep and dreaming about the footsteps. She only told me many years later her cousin who had also slept in the same room when visiting years earlier had experienced weird things there and thought it was haunted too! She didn’t tell me because she didn’t want me to be scared. Whether it’s really haunted or not I’ll never know. I definitely believed it at the time though!

Winniewonka · 20/08/2021 21:04

@VienneseWhirligig - that must have been so comforting for youFlowers

MydogWillow · 20/08/2021 21:31

Another one was when I babysat my two young great nephews and niece at their grandmother's. Tucked them all into bed. Sat downstairs and after an hour heard scampering at the top of the stairs and felt the children were watching me. I went upstairs to tell them to settle down but all three were absolutely fast asleep.

That spare bedroom always felt strange. Footsteps have also been heard on the stairs.

Ibelieveinghosts · 20/08/2021 21:35

@beastlyslumber

Not to freak you out but three knocks is a common sign of a demonic entity mocking the Holy Trinity.

Okay well you've freaked me the fuck out now! A few weeks ago, I was up early in the morning and as usual all was quiet. I was in the bathroom, and I was thinking about Jesus and the idea that he'd died on the cross, and wondering how real that was, when I heard three distinct knocks on the wall. No other sounds at all - it was five in the morning and no one else is up for hours. I thought it was very strange at the time, then I read this comment and now I am freaked! Grin

To be fair, this whole thread is making me jumpy!

Iron is traditionally used to ward of demons and the fae, it is said to disrupt astral energy. You could try sleeping with iron under the bed or nailing an iron horseshoe to the wall in question. Otherwise just ignore it unless something escalates don’t try and communicate back.
Ibelieveinghosts · 20/08/2021 21:46

@HoppingPavlova

Turned out I was having a mental breakdown and having hallucinations. I'm on appropriate medication now and don't see or hear anything anymore. According to my psychiatrist 1 in 10 people have seen or heard hallucinations which seem very real in periods of stress. I think this might explain many ghostly happenings.

Absolutely. I have visual hallucinations when my brain is tired, anything from shadowy figures to things that look like quick darting dark mice/blobs on the floor. I just ignore it. I also have auditory hallucinations when stressed. It’s really common actually and doesn’t need addressing if it doesn’t bother you (I’m not bothered as know what’s it is and why it is happening so ignore it).

I’m not saying that this explains every persons experiences, as I do believe there are things that cannot be explained, but if you struck out people where this is the cause I think the number of weird/spooky experiences would be hugely decreased.

The flip side of these things is that the usual filters you develop that stop you experiencing these things more often aren’t working as well in these circumstances meaning you see and hear what’s actually there all the time😀. Like kids often see these things before the filters appear -often between the age of 5-7.

Who knows?

AlternativePerspective · 20/08/2021 21:54

Not to freak you out but three knocks is a common sign of a demonic entity mocking the Holy Trinity. this simply isn’t true.

According to my DP who is a Christian, demons cannot enter the holy trinity as the holy trinity is God the father, the son and the Holy Spirit.

AlternativePerspective · 20/08/2021 21:55

As for what @audit saw. I highly doubt she saw anything and suspect this is just one of those stories you tell around campfires to scare the shit out of people.

I bet if you googled it it would be there.

I'm thinking along the lines of a devil type figure?

Just to digress from the thread there’s actually much discussion about the fourth part of the trinity, the quaternity in the trinity or the fourth person in the trinity. Especially popular amongst Christian mystics and some occultists. The fourth is most commonly thought to be either Mary to bring a balance between the masculine and feminine. Or alternatively lucifer to balance good and evil, either would reflect the Egyptian trinity/quaternity of Isis, Osiris and Horus, and Set. There’s quite a lot of symbology around this concept.

I’m guessing she saw the echo of an event that had happened in that spot which some might find upsetting.
LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 20/08/2021 22:17

I think audit saw something along the lines of what the kid saw in the school hall in the film with Bruce Willis...what was that called?!

Glitchinthematrix · 20/08/2021 22:18

This happened to me a few weeks ago. NC because I told quite a few people…

So, I was driving from Liverpool to Sheffield, planning to take the M62, M60 round Manchester before going on the M67 over to A57/snake pass. I have done this a hundred times before, but also being local and driving for work quite a bit I am very familiar with all the main roads around there.

So I had a clear memory of driving along the M62 and approaching the junction (12?) where you can either take lane 1 for the M60 north exit, or lane 2 for M60 south or Lane 3/4 to take the M602 and go into Manchester. I clearly remember getting into Lane 2 and following the slip round onto the M60 south. I have a clear memory of being on the M60, going over the bridge where you come past the Trafford centre and carrying on.

But then all of a sudden I saw a sign for junction 21A. And I think, hang on, this is the M6 - and as I carry on I can see I am on the M6. But with literally NO idea how I could be there! Look at the map - you cannot accidentally turn off the M62 onto M6 from that point. It makes no sense…I am still completely freaked out by what can have happened- either a mad time slip case scenario, or a brain fart so massive I managed to imagine coming off a whole other exit on the motorway…

So not ghosts but completely freaky to me!

Well, guessing Oxford or Cambridge isn’t really like predicting the lottery numbers or foretelling the second coming, is it?

tinkywinkyshandbag · 20/08/2021 23:22

@Myla2 I had something very similar when pregnant with DD1, I was working at home and while sitting at the computer it was almost as if I heard a voice in my head but as clear as day saying "her name is...". And I just knew they were right. It was a very definite sounding sort of voice, the kind that you wouldn't argue with! With DD2 I never got this and it took us ages to decide her name!

Primrosefields · 20/08/2021 23:28

My DH's grandfather died when we were living in our old home, whilst he was in a care home.
Six months after his death, we moved house.
I was home alone the one day. Dh at work and children in school. I was day off and was tidying up around the house as usual.
I vacuumed our bedroom carpet and took the vacuum back downstairs. I came straight back up to our room and on the carpet in the middle of the floor, there was a small crumpled up piece of paper that wasnt there when I cleaned our room. I unfolded it and it was a passport sized photo of DHs grandfather from several years before he died. As it was crumpled, I decided to laminate the photo in our study to protect it.
When my DH got home that night, I showed him the photo and explained how I had just tidied up and I don't know where the photo came from. He had never seen the photo before. He phoned his dad who lives up the road and he came down to look at the photo. He didn't recognize it either. Over the next few days, we saw his dads siblings to see if they remembered the photo. None of them had ever seen it before. Neither had the grandchildren.
Noone could explain how it came to be in our house and on the floor which had just been vacuumed minutes before. The photo is now kept in my DHs wallet. His dad told him to keep it.
It is strange that a photo that none of the grandfathers children or grandchildren had seen before had appeared on the floor of our new house when noone but me was in the house and I had just vacuumed the floor moments earlier. I am not scared by it, just baffled as to where it came from.

@LadyTiredWinterBottom2 yeah I thought of that too!
Sixth sense it was called wasn't it?

Mummyratbag · 20/08/2021 23:44

Oh my Richard and Julia :( Some other amazing stories here too!

I have lots of strange things happen, one that comes to mind is when my youngest was a toddler he slept with a light weight duvet and a blanket on top. Frequently both would end up on the floor as he wriggled in his sleep. If I got up at night to go to the bathroom I would always check on the kids and cover him up if necessary. One particular night the duvet was on the floor, but the blanket which had been on top was tucked in around him...someone didn't want him to get cold!!

SeoultoSeoul · 20/08/2021 23:55

There's been a few things I can't explain. Most recently was a few months ago, we were getting ready for bed and I felt really uneasy that something was wrong with DS who is away at uni.
He is a quiet lad (studies nursing) and I knew he was just at home with his flat mates but I couldn't shake the feeling. It was past midnight.
Eventually DH said "you'll never sleep, just ring him".
DS answered my "Hiya love, are you ok" with "Yeah Mum, don't worry, the Police are on their way".
One of his flat mates had been followed home by 2 guys who tried to force their way into their property after her. DS had heard her shouting, intervened and had a knife pulled on him.
I just knew he was in danger that night.

CarrieMoonbeams · 20/08/2021 23:58

My one probably has a rational explanation, but it freaked me out at the time. Due to my abusive childhood, I was NC with my dad and had been for years. I live in a village about 20 miles away from the city where I'd been brought up, and hadn't seen or spoken to my dad for about 15 years prior to this incident.

DH and I had a Lurcher puppy, and I decided to take him over to the city one day to get him used to busier traffic and more people than he usually saw locally.

We were walking along, and Morse the dog was very relaxed, chilled and taking it all in. Suddenly I was aware that he'd gone really tense, and I looked at him to see what was wrong. He was staring straight ahead into the crowd, and he started growling, which I had literally never heard him do before because he was a big soppy lump who loved everyone. I was actually a bit scared, as it was so unlike him. I looked ahead, and about 20 feet away in the crowd was my dad.
