I’ve heard children speaking in my dds room when she’s the only child, there was no tv etc that could have made the voices

It scared me so much I still remember it now at almost 50

@CrotchetyQuaver

On quite a few occasions I had a robin fly into the house right after a very dear friend died suddenly. Got my spidey senses going although I wasn't scared, I just thought it was a bit strange. On googling it, it turns out that it's not unusual. When robins appear, loved ones are near. It brought me great peace and comfort as I chose to interpret it as my friend trying to tell me he was ok and not to worry or be sad he was gone.
When our beloved pet died and my dh buried her, a robin appeared.

However it could be that he turned the earth and there were worms

I love these threads!

Mine aren't really weird, but I have two things that have really stuck with me.
My DH's grandmother passed away a few years ago. She had a fall and recovered really well, and we went to see her in the hospital. Before I left (DH popped out the door) she called me back and took my hand and promised me I would look after her boys. She was physically doing well and recovering better than expected but I knew when I took her hand she wasn't going to last much longer. Three days later we get a call saying she took a massive turn for the worst and passed away in the early hours of the morning.

Last year, DH and I had a horrible year. Our son was stillborn and two of our dogs passed away when they were young and healthy, they both got ill with different things. At the start of this year we decided to make a little rockery/flowerbed where the dogs are buried and we picked some lovely flowers. I kept thinking of what I would to add as a little tribute to our son but wasn't sure. I picked these glorious purple flowers and some little silvery shrubs called silver mist which keep going all year round. In June I was up leaving some flowers at the baby garden of remembrance where my sons ashes are scattered and they have made a lovely little rockery there too... With the silver mist plants there too. It made me cry and just gives me such a lovely feeling of comfort that the same plants grow at home that are where his ashes are.

Probably not nearly as strange as some of the stories on here!

SwimmingUnderwater · 22/08/2021 15:58

Talk of robins has reminded me that my father loved to walk in a particular public garden before he died. My son and his gf visited this garden with my widowed mother after he died. . A robin flew over and sat on my sons hand for ages. He videoed it in delight and sent me the video. I think it was my fathers way of saying he was there with them.

Antinerak · 22/08/2021 16:59

@VeganCheesePlease I've just come in from the garden and had a look back at this thread and saw your lovely post. I've just been planting up some silver mist!

I have another. My auntie was hosting a night with a psychic. I'm really sceptical about these people but these nights are enjoyable so I went along. As soon as the lady came in the house, she said she felt a very sad heavy presence and someone had suffered a terrible loss recently (it was my auntie's friends husband who was there to do the reading too). So that freaked everyone initially.
So background is I had a MMC then couldn't conceive again for 2 and a half years, we then had a secondary infertility diagnosis and were due to start ICSI in 2 months. But we were told without IVF, we wouldn't be able to conceive again.
The psychic said a lot that was correct in my reading, and I was VERY careful not to say anything in my answers and only answer yes, no, kind of etc. I wanted to see if the infertility / children would be brought up without me having to ask at the end. She said mentioned a grandmother who recently passed telling to keep trying because it's not over yet and there's still hope. I had lost my gran but found that to be very generic, but a bunch of other things that were pretty accurate. Like a family member planting my grand favourite flower in their garden (my dad did this).
Anyway, my half an hour session ended and I stood up and said thank you and turned to leave. I didn't ask any questions and I was thinking how disappointed I was that she said nothing about children. I was literally reaching for the door handle when she just blurted out the blue "IVF!"
I turned around and said nothing, she continued "IVF, you're about to do IVF". Then a huge smile came across her face and she just said "this time next year, your life will be completely different".

A year later, I was holding my 4 week old IVF baby.

Fernando072020 · 22/08/2021 18:24

Sorry that was unclear, my auntie's friend's husband had died and the friend was there to do the reading

If you like to watch videos about spooky subjects, Lazy Masquerade has been doing a series on YouTube for years.

BorderlineHappy · 22/08/2021 19:02

@VeganCheesePlease that's a lovely ending to a sad story.

WhatWouldKalindaDo · 22/08/2021 19:47

Last year I was shopping in our town centre with my 2 children. We were half way across the road of a one way street, when I suddenly got the most intense urge to step backwards onto the pavement and pull my son who was slightly ahead, out of the road. A car suddenly flew past us and mounted the pavement, coming up from the wrong direction being chased by a police car. It turned out to be a man trying to flee from a robbery which then crashed with another car on the main road.

If I hadn't got myself and my children onto the pavement and pressed against a shop front we would have been hit. I'll never know why I had that urge and I get chills thinking about what could have happened. My son still talks about it now, but for him it's an exciting story!

I moved to a new house about a year ago and a couple of weird things have happened.

Firstly, I was heading up the stairs taking something to my office. My placid dog was bounding after me as he always does. I got to my office and realised my dog wasn't following. I went to look for him and he was frozen in fear on the landing and then he started growling in a really intense way with his eyes fixed on the darkened bathroom door. Nobody in there. On a scale of 1-10, in terms of aggression and fear, he was an 11 so I went cold with fear and started thinking about what I might have in my office to use as a weapon. Genuinely thought there was an intruder. But no, nothing.

Just recently, I was brushing my teeth and half glancing in the bathroom mirror one day and saw a man going into my office. I didn't have any weird vibes and just assumed it was DH. He never goes in my office so I shouted to him to ask what he was looking for. No reply. Went in to see what he was up to but DH wasn't in there, he was in the garden. My office was completely empty.

@Audit

My ex had this book and knew one of the contributors. He told me about one of her experiences and it sounds similar to yours. She was studying an ancient celtic artefact and it gave off an unnerving energy. Later that evening, she saw a creature like the one you described bounding down the stairs. She didn't see anything like that again once the artefact was out of the house. I think she writes about it in the book: www.ebay.co.uk/p/1408008245

Wagsandclaws · 23/08/2021 09:12

@Audit I live in North Somerset, i would love to know (roughly) where this is?

I was awake at 4 am this morning with the beautiful full moon shining thinking about your post, I believe that was demonic too.

Strange that the B & B owner knew what you'd seen, as if he or other guests perhaps had seen it too in which case getting a blessing from the church wouldn't really have made much difference as it kept coming back 🤷‍♀️

I grew up in a house that saw an awful lot of 'activity' thankfully I have not lived anywhere since that made me think that it was haunted ( bar one cottage we rented for 6 months ) I don't think I could live like that long term anymore.

VeganCheesePlease · 23/08/2021 09:23

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments 💕 @antinerak they are lovely plants, you'll love them

Within a 5 mile radius of Nether Stowey. You will like this bit - when I go onto Google Earth and travel down the lane on which the property is situated, their is a glitch and the property is not visible from the software when approaching from either direction.

seensome · 23/08/2021 20:04

Quite a few odd experiences probably too many to mention, not all ghostly but unexplainable, I'll break them down into mini stories.

In my childhood home from time to time I'd hear my name being called by my mother but when I went to her, it wasn't her that called me, would also happen when she was out.
When I was a teen, I was a bit wayward, not proud but I used to get up late for school on purpose, my parents had already left for work and I enjoyed a far too long lie in when I should of been going to school!
On a couple of occasions my bed mattress shook side to side, I knew that at the moment I'd get up straight away, someone I couldn't see knew I was being lazy.

I once passed a man in a green velvet suit in the 90s in a pub on the stairs, as he was running down the stairs past me, on the way to the loo I quickly moved out of the way, I said sorry as an automatic reaction, when I came back to my friend, she asked me who I was talking to on the stairs as there was no one there Confused
His suit was old fashioned but I thought maybe he was in fancy dress or something, years later another friend by coincidence was talking to a taxi driver who used to be the landlord of that pub and said it was haunted by a man in green, many had seen him but he hadn't, she remembered the story and told me.

I believe my own intuition saved me one evening after meeting a friend in town one evening we departed ways, I went to try and get a bus home but it was too late or I'd missed one so I carried on walking a bit further up the road when a man with a bicycle approached me, he was trying to be friendly and saying I had to be careful on my own as there could be weirdos about, I knew that I had to act fast and get away from him, luckily I flagged an oncoming taxi and got away, a short while later in the news there had been some rapes in that area by a man with a bicycle.

One more, this is weird but when my son was a baby in his cot, I checked on him as I did every hour or so to make sure he was ok in the evening, I saw a big nasty red scratch on his cheek, he hadn't made a sound so he couldn't of been painful but I dabbed a small amount of sudocreme on it to prevent any infection and left it, in the morning, there is no trace of the scratch, no mark, skin was perfect like it hadn't existed but it should have.

Love all these stories.

forensicfleabag · 23/08/2021 23:17

So this happened today.
Visiting family at the moment, southern seaside town.
Kids and DH got kfc and I queued up for sub in same eating area.
When i got back to my family they were all looking at me strangely. My 4yo had looked over and asked why there were 2 mummies and who the little girl was that mummy was with.
DH had taken a photo of the lady just behind me in the queue.
Same hair, just grey rather than ash blonde; same glasses; small, dark blue patterned handbag hung across chest, to the right; same colour hoodie; same build; dark trousers (though not patterned like mine). Basically me in 25 years time. With her was a young girl, about 9yo?!
He showed me the photo and I actually thought it was me.
I couldn't look at her as it freaked me out!!!

Audit · 23/08/2021 23:36

@forensicfleabag

Bell-shaped curve suggests this is going to happen sometimes. I saw a work colleague at an event, except he was not there and on holiday at the time. Looks, height, weight, voice all identical. The only difference was the standard of clothes and the holiday.

The chances of someone looking and dressing similar to you and you seeing them is not zero. Think of the tens or hundreds of thousands of people you have seen who did not look like that.

HoobleDooble · 24/08/2021 22:22

@forensicfleabag I have a double living in a town about 10 miles away. She even has the same first name as me. I've never seen her myself, but been mistaken for her loads of times. One of my closest friends saw her in a pub one night and said if she hadn't been 100% certain I was out of the country (she'd driven me and exDF to the airport the day before) she would have gone bounding over to her. She had to finish her drink and move to the next pub as it left her feeling really mixed up, like I was ignoring her or something.

petridishmystery · 25/08/2021 10:34

I once walked past a girl, thought “oh there’s Petri” and then remembered I am Petri! Never saw her again but tbh I have a fairly generic face and it was only in passing so she probably didn’t look as much like me as I thought! But was quite weird to briefly forget who I was!

Topia · 25/08/2021 12:54

@Audit

It’s possible the entity is attached to that place; grounded there if you like. It’s probably well-known by the owner of the B&B if not also in local folklore or local sightings. Did the owner not say anything about it when you told him?

Audit · 25/08/2021 14:17

Yes. We had a discussion after an evening meal when his family were out of the way. The house had been exorcised shortly after they moved in a decade earlier. Some guests had also left part way through their stays. The guests were mainly supply staff to school, seconded bank clerks and similar out of the summer season. One guest had left in the middle of the night and left their belongings behind.

Audit · 25/08/2021 14:20

I still have connections in the area though I live some distance away now. It is not known locally though. The family no longer live in the property and it is no longer let out as a bed and breakfast. The new owner was in the pop industry.

My friends house has always made me feel uneasy like I don't want to be alone in a room and when I was about 16 at my friends house we were painting her room (it was on the too floor of a 3 storey house) and the whole time I felt like something was in that room with us.

As we was about to walk down the stairs I felt something rush past me which knocked my bag and caused it to move. I asked my friend omg did that just happen? She also felt it and saw my bag move. Safe to say we both pegged it down the stairs to the bottom floor.
