Omg @Beachmum23 😮 that's lucky for you but awful as well.

A female figure, part human, part animal. Human skin and body, the feet ending in a horn like structure - thing elongated horses hooves. The face was just exceptionally old - hundreds of years old. It / she was also not vertical, tilted about 20 degrees with the feet towards me.

This apparition is a very disturbing one but it has been sighted before throughout human history. I think there is some great significance to the angle of the creature, as in, how it presents itself to you. Face on & you’re in trouble. Do some research on this and you’ll see what I mean. You had a lucky escape Audit.

I went back over this thread & read your original post. You were protected by your guardian angel that day. Whoever your guardian is they must be very strong!!! You are fortunate indeed

What keywords would bring up the right information? I've just done a quick Google search using various combinations of words/descriptions, but nothing is coming up that sounds remotely like this. I'm so curious!

Audit · 21/08/2021 16:53

Yes, I did too and nothing matches.

Ibelieveinghosts · 21/08/2021 17:48

You could have a look at the ars goetia to see if anything matches your description
In its female form. Maybe something had been summoned in that room?

I would say it sounds like a succubus but these are normally beautiful women sent to seduce men but have animal parts so doesn’t really match the old face.

Ashard20 · 21/08/2021 17:59

@Ibelieveinghosts @Audit
I've just looked in the list in the Ars Goetia. At the end of the list, there is mention of a demon that takes the form of a blackbird or thrush, before changing to its human form.
Also, one of the top pictures has a figure that fits the description, but looks more male, with breasts...
This is very scary stuff.

indecisivewoman81 · 21/08/2021 18:03

When I was young I saw what I believe was a ghost.

A bright yellow girl (like a candle) walked down the corridor in our house. In the morning I mentioned it to my mum; she had seen the same.

I also have very very vivid dreams and dreamy I had a miscarriage the day before I did.

Audit · 21/08/2021 18:11

@Ashard20
The blackbird was a real one. What I saw was human, apart from the hair and feet which was not. The feet were like elongated horses hooves (not easy to picture but only way I can describe). Another description would be like two thick mangrove roots, but fibrous at the end. The hair was long and straggly. So, only the lower leg and feet plus hair was animal like. The rest was a very old female form especially the face. But very old - think wrinkles on wrinkles - and very poor skin.

Topia · 21/08/2021 18:12

@Audit

I believe from your description that you encountered a Shapeshifter of some description. They are quite rare actually & there’s a lot of debate about what they are and where they come from but most cultures have their own names for them. The Native Americans called them “Skin Walkers.” They can be very dangerous.

Some witches can shape-shift but most witches practise the Craft for good, not bad & your vision was not of a living person - more of an apparition. What struck me most about your experience was the negative or “bad” aspect of the encounter which to me suggests a demonic force, a very powerful one as only these have the ability to transform themselves in this way.

Usually we are protected from negative forces and they seldom “get through” so to speak so we don’t often witness them. But in your case one did get through, and you were kept safe until your protector had overcome it. Hence why you saw it slanted, at an angle. It had already been subdued and vanished shortly afterwards.

You were not meant to see it at all. But let’s hope you won’t encounter similar again.

Zakana · 21/08/2021 18:22

My DS aged two, got out of bed, went into the hallway of our small bungalow at the time and was speaking to someone, when I went out there, he said that he was talking to grandad who has just come in the front door. Our Labrador dog was out in the hallway with him, wagging his tail, and looking where my DS was looking. My dad died in 1983. This was in 2000 and it wasn’t his other GF as was known to my DS, and due to the fact that we are a dual cultural family, isn’t known as granddad.

Sound the same time, bought a new cheap battery operated doorbell. It was supposed to be a single ding dong type. It kept ringing each night around midnight, no ding ding, but a spooky rendition of Greensleeves. I got so spooked, I took the batteries out.

Next night, Greensleeves plays once again around the usual time, DP says that he thought I had removed the batteries, which I confirmed I had. We both go out to check, no batteries in the sodding thing……

I ripped it out and binned it there and then, haven’t had a doorbell since!

funinthesun19 · 21/08/2021 18:36

A few years ago, when I was still with my ex, we were talking about what to have for tea. I was at the top of the stairs and he was at the bottom. We decided to order a pizza, and then he went in to the living room while I was still upstairs and I went in to my bedroom.

I swear I then heard a voice whisper, “Pizza”.

The kids were fast asleep, so unless they heard us in their sleep and were sleep talking, then it remains a mystery 😬. Plus the voice was too close for it to be coming from their room.

Not very exciting as some stories, but at the time it really freaked me out!

AleynEivlys · 21/08/2021 18:42

Mine is neither hugely weird nor spooky, but I do believe it was 100% real.

I had a very close friend die in violent/criminal circumstances in 2011, which was hideous and had a profound affect on me for a very long time. Fast forward to 2013 and I was lying in bed one evening with my then-new OH (now father of my two children) and I was telling him all about my friend. They were things I had never really told anyone before - not even my friend himself - about how I had felt about him and what he had meant to me. Tender, deeply personal things.

Eventually, we fell asleep.

At some point, I found myself somewhere between sleep and waking - very drowsy, but conscious enough to know that I wasn't dreaming, and acutely aware that every cell in my body was alive with some kind of buzzing, humming electricity, sort of like the feeling you get when you walk very close to a pylon. I was attempting to process this when two things became apparent - firstly, that somebody was there and secondly, that they were talking to me.

I didn't realise who it was at first, but as I wasn't remotely afraid, I knew it was somebody familiar and benign. I also somehow sensed it was a male, but other than that, I had no idea.

I remember trying to talk back, and that I got it wrong, because I spoke out loud, which didn't work. He couldn't hear me. It was like his voice (though it wasn't so much a voice as the very 'feeling' of words, if that makes sense) was coming from somewhere inside my head, so I tried 'thinking' my response instead, and it was then that I felt his sudden joy, and - with a massive happy flip of my stomach - realised that it was my friend who had died.

I wish I could remember something - anything - of what we talked about, but sadly I don't. As it stands, the only thing I distinctly remember him saying came just as I was waking up and the weird buzzing was fading out:

'I have to go back now. Be safe.'

It sounds so corny, but that is genuinely what I heard - in proper spoken words this - as clearly as if he had just whispered it into my ear.

And then he was gone and I was awake. It's never happened again, but I treasure the experience.

@VienneseWhirligig

I had a visitation from DH, about 3 months after he died. I was lying in bed, he stood at the bottom of the bed, leaned over me and missed me, told me everything would be OK. I could feel him, smell his aftershave, hear him, see him. I was definitely awake because I asked him if it was really him and he replied. I could feel the pressure on the mattress from where he had his weight on his hands either side of me on top of the duvet. I'm not woo at all but that was such a vivid experience that I can remember it in minute detail even now, two years later.
That's very comforting. Flowers

This could be a bit of a long post but it's like creepy stuff just follows me everywhere!

My mums flat was 100% haunted, I remember being stood in front of the bathroom mirror when I was about 7 and watched my hair be pulled upwards in my reflection, I ran to my mum and screamed in fear.
The flat was built on what used to be miners terraced housing and family that used to come in said they'd see an old man in black work boots, a flat cap and a green sort of trench coat thing - turned out a man had passed away in the 60's from some sort of lung condition. You could hear his footsteps walk up and down the hallway at night, really heavy and almost stomping.

Fast forward to being about 17, with my now fiancé we stupidly did an Ouija Board in our first flat and our friend was recording it (I was skeptical of them), the board spelt out that it was in the bedroom and all of a sudden our plastic box was pushed off the top of the wardrobe. It then began to spell out that I was pregnant, but would never conceive a girl. I had no idea I was pregnant but 3 days later sure enough I was. I sadly miscarried 2 weeks later at 8 weeks and 2 days.

We moved out of that flat into a two bedroom house on an old street of terraces. The house instantly had an awful feel to it, the living room and dining room was open plan with a very small, thin kitchen and bathroom at the end. The stairs were by the kitchen door and you could overlook the entire of downstairs by standing on them. It constantly felt like someone was watching you from the top of them, like eyes burning into you. My step son who was 2 at the time refused to stay in his bedroom and would cry and point to the bedroom door which was right next to the top of the stairs. I was pregnant with my DS at the time. Friends would say they'd see something hanging over the bannister staring at them, or something at the top of the stairs and they would refuse to come back because of how nauseous it would make them feel. Fruit would go mouldy within 2 days of buying it, and I mean furry and rotting.

Just after DS was born, I had just put him down after his night feed and climbed back onto the sofa to go to sleep, (I refused to sleep upstairs) and I had the most vivid dream/vision I don't know what it was, but as I got back onto the sofa I saw a little boy, almost blue/transparent, wearing wartime clothes, brown blazer jacket on top of a shirt and braces, shorts, high socks with polished black shoes and a small cap, he told me to wait and pointed at my sons Moses basket. I stood up to look at the Moses basket and he was struggling with acid so I had to prop him up slightly to make sure he didn't choke. Upon turning round the little boy said 'he's here' and walked up the stairs, disappearing on the 8th step. A few days later the intense burning stare happened again and my partner took a photograph and in it you can see a bald man sitting on the 8th step of the stairs, looking down the stairs, sort of through the bannister. I will ask him to send me the photograph later because I don't have it on my phone anymore.

I could go on but I'd be waffling, a lot of it sounds completely unbelievable but it's gods honest truth.

Luckily I did go onto conceive my daughter, 10 months after my son was born. I prayed that month to please let me conceive a girl. I'm not a believer of God but I really do believe that prayer worked.

Just to expand more, but only carefully because I know people can get sensitive about these things. I was the biggest sceptic of these things until that particular day. I could no longer be sceptical from then of course.

I have since considered these things and even researched them. I do believe in ghosts, but they are an impression made by nature that gets played back. Nothing weird about that. Humans have manufactured media over time such as photographic plates, tapes and now digital that records and plays back things. It may be John Lennon talking in that video, but at the same time it is not. It is a collection of molecules that once charged in a particular play back the image of John. You think you are watching him and hearing him. You are, but there is no agency behind that. It is not John Lennon. He is dead. Ghosts are the same - they have no agency. Nature is a huge soup of chemicals, radiation, weather patterns and plasmas. I believe it can record and play back events on very rare occasions when natural phenomena interact, whether it is a storm, desert breeze or the evaporation from a lake on a hot summer day. The walls of Leeds Castle may vibrate and release long trapped sounds when the winds at the right temperature blow through them for example. I do believe that and one day science will give us proof (when scientists devote less time to commercial ventures like space-age vacuum cleaners and trips into space).

What I cannot square off in my mind, is the feeling of malevolence associated with that night. Not only that, but the counterbalance of the good presence. The 'guardian angel' to quote other posters. It is other posters I read here who have also had those same feelings. It is exactly the same. The sudden onset of an enormous paralysing evil presence. The knowledge of it, without seeing or hearing it. Then the rush into the fray of something quite different. Something confident, good, calm, yet focused that urges you to hold the line. To win the day. That is how I can best describe it. Also, the complete sea change in feeling when only minutes later the event has dissipated. It is calm, but it is something more. It is more like picking up exactly where you left off. As if nothing actually happened, but you know it just did and your experience of life has just become enriched a little. Because you now know there are things out there, but we are not ready to know or understand them all yet.

I am going to digress now. I read a few threads earlier about dying animals. My life has always been richer through my love of animals. I have learned they are far more intelligent that most of humans are ready to give credit for. Human information on animals is driven by science which rejects things it cannot explain, so sometimes science hampers us because animals can do the explaining for us. In my garden, every year we have a multitude of birds' nests. I have lived here for some 25 years now and we let nature take its course only intervening to mow a short patch for a table and chairs, or remove the honeysuckle and wisteria a bit to make some repairs. It is home for us and all animals as it should be. We live within nature. I sleep with the window open and from spring to summer I can work out which birds are where just by their song from 4am.

It starts at dawn then goes quieter from 9 until 6 when the full sun allows for best foraging of grubs and insects. At dawn and dusk the song is different. There is a particular species that assembles its young in the morning as if it were school time. In late spring the fledglings chirp in a particular way. After all these years I realise they are being taught by their parents to speak. A fledgling twitters and then the parent twitters back in a longer or deeper way. The parent responds, ad infinitum. Gradually, and I am hearing this daily, the twitter starts very short and ungainly, improving every day until after several weeks the fledglings now almost adults are talking at par with their parents. They are having a conversation and you can hear it. There is banter, some surprise in the inflection, some seriousness, some 'laughter'. It is amazing, but you have to be in it to experience it. The same is true with our cats and dogs, though being as domesticated as they are now they have become more attuned to humans. I think they read us far better than we read them. After all, we have the scientists pushing i-phones, TVs, computer games etc into our brains so we have less time to connect with nature. Yet that labrador is spotting that brain tumour developing....if only they can tell us.

I was a sceptic. Perhaps the biggest on 'ghosts'. I no longer am because I feel they are natural and without agency. The one thing I have yet to square off is the malevolent and good feelings...why are they part of this world now?

luce2202 · 21/08/2021 19:02

Just to add, I found out our old 2 bedroom house was bombed during WW2, which would explain the boys clothes.

I no longer live in that house, as soon as we could afford we moved to a significantly less creepy, nicer house😅
