Hating parenting toddler

Also have a baby.
There are extreme cults that allow you to meet more of your physical and psychological needs and allow you to keep your sense of self more intact than this.
Why don't I matter anymore? How is it acceptable to never be able to have what you need for yourself?
Am I wrong? Is it just me?

Toddlers are tough. It was my least favourite phase. By 4 she started to improve.

pjani · 18/08/2021 11:28

What support do you have? You do matter! You need time for yourself.

TheGumption · 18/08/2021 11:31

Toddlers are dicks. I prefer my older two now they're 6 and nearly 9.

Anothernameanothertime · 18/08/2021 11:34

Toddlers can be hellish. Can you afford extra support? Do you have family or friends that can help?

And keep your boundaries/time for yourself. Everyone in a family has rights.

Curiosity101 · 18/08/2021 11:35

Why do you feel you don't matter? And why do you feel you aren't able to have what you need?

On the face of it this doesn't sound like it's probably going to be an issue with you parenting a toddler and/or a baby.

My guess is that you don't have the level of support around you to allow you to recharge your batteries and look after yourself. Is the children's father around? Do you have family support or childcare options?

My once beautiful, happy, joyous 22 month old girl is becoming a dick! The transition is not yet complete but every day the dick tantrums are becoming more frequent, it won't be long now.

I'm actually secretly despairing our up coming trip away because its a hotel stay so it will be disruptive naps and meals out in the evening with a cranky toddler!!

Icecreamsoda99 · 18/08/2021 11:38

Personally I found the baby stage so difficult and really enjoying the toddler stage but I have only one child. Is there any chance of the toddler going to nursery a morning or so a week to help them burn energy and you to have some rest (as much as you can with a baby)?

Oogachuckachopsy · 18/08/2021 12:57

I agree with @TheGumption. Toddlers are total dicks.

Jesus Broken Sunflower, broken down record more like.

Toddlers are the worst. Can’t really do anything, constantly moving/putting their lives in danger, you’re basically on the edge the whole time they’re around. I stick mine in nursery a couple of days a week, really helps and worth the money.

countrytown · 18/08/2021 13:46

Age 1.5-4 is hell on earth!

countrytown · 18/08/2021 13:47

Mine had a huge tantrum yesterday because they were crying (arm wasn't working) & I wiped away the tears which resulted in me "making her wet & cold" 🤬

Breaks my heart that people can't have children and you have had one you aren't appreciating

By that logic you can't moan about anything 🙄.

ParistoLondon · 18/08/2021 13:50

Toddlers are extremely hard work. I have a nearly 16 month old and I'm already struggling as it is and I've been told it'll get even worse before it eventually gets better 😂 I really sympathise. Parenting is hard, and dull, and repetitive a lot of the time. Especially when they're still so young.

Aisforharlot · 18/08/2021 13:53

I hated the toddler years. It's so bloody relentless. Ds is now 7 and I enjoy him far more. Though now pregnant and will have to go through it all again.
