To think my cat is faulty?

An entire bed covered with clean laundry waiting to be packed for a holiday and he has curled up on the only space not taken by laundry, as if to be considerate. AIBU to be concerned at this distinctly unfeline-like behaviour?

He's just saving the rest of the space for a hairball, ideally moments before you need to leave.

Soubriquet · 05/08/2021 14:00

Awwwwww that is adorable

The hair all comment made me laugh though

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/08/2021 14:01

Definitely faulty, mine like to perch on the tallest pile available

sofiegiraffe · 05/08/2021 14:09

This has reminded me of the time our cat did this when my DD and I were sorting her clothes out in her bedroom ... he wasn't as considerate as your cat 😂

Your cat is a freak, but a lovely colour.

LotLessBovver · 05/08/2021 14:14

He's hoping you mistake him for a fluffy ginger jumper, accidentally pack him, and take him with you on your holiday. Wink

ghostyslovesheets · 05/08/2021 14:28

well he's not as defective as one of mine - who had a wee in the open suitcase on my bed 2 hours before we went on holiday.

FelicityBeedle · 05/08/2021 14:29

Oh he’s just lovely! The exact opposite of my cat who managed to go to sleep on an incredibly precarious 3ft pile of clean washing. I don’t know how he managed it without knocking it over.

He's after something. Cats are never considerate unless they want something.

Have you run out of dreamies?

ImRhondaAndthesearentreal · 05/08/2021 14:37

I have such a soft spot for ginger cats.

Babdoc · 05/08/2021 14:53

I’m sorry, but your cat is definitely broken. He has failed cat behaviour 1.01 - moulting on clean laundry is mandatory for all felines.
Is he failing in other areas too? Not depositing enough dead mice on your carpets, not walking on worktops, not demanding to be let out, then wanting in again repeatedly, not scratching enough upholstery?

It is all deeply concerning, OP. I would take him back for a refund. Grin

NotMyCat · 05/08/2021 15:01

@Babdoc mine is failed. He doesn't catch anything, never scratches furniture, won't go on the worktops.. Blush

heldinadream · 05/08/2021 15:01

Yes I think you should try switching him off and then switching him on again...

HumbugWhale · 05/08/2021 15:03

He looks very cosy! Whenever we pack to go away our cat gets in the suitcase as if he us trying to stop us from going!

Babdoc · 05/08/2021 15:04

That’s shocking, NotMyCat! He’s clearly not even trying. Really needs to pull his socks up. Deplorable attitude - where’s his self respect?! Grin

NotMyCat · 05/08/2021 15:05

I know, he just wants to cuddle ALL day and gaze at me Hmm

GenderAKAStereotypes · 05/08/2021 15:06

Goodness you're gullible.

Clearly he is lying on top of a small but vital piece of paper you will need later and cannot find - passport, plane tickets - something like that.

Don't be fooled about his real intentions Wink

GenderAKAStereotypes · 05/08/2021 15:07

He is beautiful though. As are all the cats on this thread!

ZiaMcnab · 05/08/2021 15:09

Definitely faulty - I once had a freshly washed pair of trousers laid out on my superking bed (not fully laid out, most of the legs were hanging down the end) while I was deciding which top to wear with them, so they were there for all of 3 minutes before my cat jumped up and immediately started shedding all over them, despite there being approximately 3 metres of empty made bed that she's usually more than happy to sleep on!

pussycatlickinglollyices · 05/08/2021 15:09

I have one of those. He's currently unconscious on the dining room table. His sis has more sense and is taking up too much sofa in the conservatory.
Try not to disturb him, he looks like he's having his "big sleep", the one between naps. 😺😻

Wherearemymarbles · 05/08/2021 15:12

If he was human he’d be sent for counselling and rehab!

It must be something like that!
No cat would ever be so generous as to not sleep on the piles of clean clothes. There must be something more devious going on!

NotMyCat · 05/08/2021 15:19

Mine likes to sleep like this. He identifies as a baby Grin

OP your cat is so beautiful
