To think my cat is faulty?

An entire bed covered with clean laundry waiting to be packed for a holiday and he has curled up on the only space not taken by laundry, as if to be considerate. AIBU to be concerned at this distinctly unfeline-like behaviour?

Your cat is definitely faulty.

Speaking as a faulty cat owner who had to drag her cat out of a freshly drawn bath last night. Bubble bath was also included!

PlinkPlankPlunk · 05/08/2021 15:48

Oh, what a super boy!

Presumably he’s already had a wee in your suitcase though, as is traditional in these circumstances?

He'll be waiting until it's just about to be zipped up for that Grin
AlfonsoTheMango · 05/08/2021 16:04

He's up to something...

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 05/08/2021 16:23

Have you checked the insides of your shoes for furballs or half mice?

He's obviously establishing an alibi.

Elefant1 · 05/08/2021 16:26

He will be planning something, or has already done something and you just haven't found it yet 😁
I went upstairs yesterday evening to find one cat asleep on my bed, perfectly normal you might think, however.... I don't have a cat! Same cat was trying to bite my ankles this morning when I was unreasonable enough to be putting out the washing rather than making a fuss of her. (She belongs next door but seem to feel she doesn't have enough space there so also needs my house too).

SquirryTheSquirrel · 05/08/2021 16:28

YANBU. See if you can exchange him for a cat that cats properly.

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 05/08/2021 16:30

Neither of my cats lie on clean laundry but leave your worn hoody on the sofa or an old pair of jeans in a pile on the floor and they'll make a bee line for it. I slung my t-shirt on the back of a kitchen chair during the recent heatwave and my cat couldn't move fast enough to get it down and make a little nest despite it being soggy and stinking of sweat.
That being said once a suitcase comes out they're guaranteed to get in it, I think it's to stop us leaving.

@FelicityBeedle

Oh he’s just lovely! The exact opposite of my cat who managed to go to sleep on an incredibly precarious 3ft pile of clean washing. I don’t know how he managed it without knocking it over.
On a slightly different tangent... Why has your kitty got a mobile phone under his chin?!
AngryWhompingWillow · 05/08/2021 16:33

@FelicityBeedle Sorry, forgot pic.

Some gorgeous cats on here btw! Grin

I have roughly just put about 6 pairs of mainly black leggings on my bedngI am just sorting through them, as three pairs have got paint, woodstain, and adhesive glue stuff on them, so going to chuck them away, and save the others, to wear for my frequent DIY Projects..

I went to make a cup of tea, came back to the bedroom, and one of my cats has pulled the whole pile of leggings onto the floor, and scratched around to make them into a bed, and is now sleeping upside down, with legs in the air on them.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/08/2021 17:07

He's still touching all that stuff behind him.

You may think it's clean laundry, but you'll spend much of your holiday picking ginger hairs off things.

We've also had to remove cats from suitcases before packing them, and suffered the protest wee on the case that was packed the night before and left out ready - it had soaked through so there had to be hasty digging out of the spare case, replacement of soiled clothes and repacking.

At least none of ours have ever shamed us at the airport like this couple.

fishonabicycle · 05/08/2021 17:13

Mine sneaks in the cupboard and sleeps on my clothes in there. She's always getting shut in. Husband bought himself a jigsaw - within seconds this happened:

She later amused herself by stealing pieces.

Ha ha. What exactly did he expect?

A box full of interesting crinkly things? Did he really think he'd be allowed to keep that all to himself?

fishonabicycle · 05/08/2021 17:22

She's alway in trouble! A really mischievous, and clumsy cat (very friendly)

ConstanceGracy · 05/08/2021 17:27

Definitely faulty.
Mine is obviously a prime cat specimen as loves doing stuff to give me a heart attack ..
This was when he heard a bird on the roof

Oooh sorry to derail, but is your cat a Turkish Van? (With a gps tracker? Grin)
MushMonster · 05/08/2021 18:15

While you are on holiday, can he come to mine and teach my 4 boys good manners?
There is more cat fur in our clothes that on the cats!
That is the only reason why I tend to buy quite a few new clothes when travelling. Still manage to find fur on them!
If you are wearing black trousersor skirt, better not to sit down to put your shoes on, or we end up with a furry bottom Grin. I had to brush my families round side quite s few times.

Lanique · 05/08/2021 18:21

Hmm definitely signs of faultiness there.

My parents' cat used to only vomit on the bath mat, despite the whole of the upstairs (including their bathroom 🤢) being carpeted. It's almost as if he just knew how to vomit conveniently for the greater good of all. So odd.

MrsBede · 05/08/2021 20:14

Ah, I love all these replies, especially the ones with gorgeous pics attached 🥰.

Happily, he may be on the mend. After his pre-nap sleep he deposited some lovely entrails right in the doorway of the bathroom on carpet millimeters away from the tiles. You can imagine my relief that his fault seems to be rectifying itself.

@AngryWhompingWillow
No he’s a thoroughbred mog, the mobile phone is a tracker. My DP hasn’t had cats before and doesn’t like the idea of them roaming and getting lost, the compromise to him not having to be an indoor cat was a GPS tracker. It’s actually come in handy a few times! And I love seeing where he’s been

LivingInABuildingSite · 05/08/2021 20:26

Glad the fault is rectified!

Most recent jigsaw attempt - 2/3 cats ‘helped’.

Then, when it was finished (luckily) slept on it for a bit then as they jumped off, pushed the whole thing onto the floor.

Hopefully I found all the pieces from under the sofa!
