have overtaken Britain in fully vaccinated percentages. For all the vitriol spouted here against them for months and months, you have to wonder about the press also, driving opinions and backing up Brexit. Well done lads.

Vitriol against the Irish? Where?

Genuine question. I'm Irish and haven't seen it.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 03/08/2021 12:18

What vitriol?

trappistkepler · 03/08/2021 12:19

@ValidUser
you are living in a bubble

OP posts:
ValidUser · 03/08/2021 12:19

It's a lovely bubble.

trappistkepler · 03/08/2021 12:20

heh heh no defence let's pretend that we haven't been lording it.

OP posts:
Hekatestorch · 03/08/2021 12:21

I am Irish, living in England. Genuinely have no clue about any lording anything.

FamishedAtAnAirport · 03/08/2021 12:21

I've not seen any vitriol towards the Irish either.

Is it on the covid board maybe? I don't go there.

MindyStClaire · 03/08/2021 12:22

I'm the first to point out anti Irish sentiment on here (MNHQ must be sick of reports from me) but your post is completely over the top and exaggerates it. It's far far from vitriol.

FamishedAtAnAirport · 03/08/2021 12:23

Oh god. Is this going to be one of those threads where the op never backs up their claims with any actual evidence?

DingDongDenny · 03/08/2021 12:23

I'm Irish and I have no idea what you are talking about - please explain

CuteOrangeElephant · 03/08/2021 12:25

It's funny isn't it. So much vitriol from English posters when the UK was ahead with the vaccinations. They called the EU vaccination programme a shitshow, lots of faux concern about the EU killing it's elderly citizens, the conviction that this was going to break up the EU.

Now several European countries have overtaken the UK not a peep.

BaronessBomburst · 03/08/2021 12:25

I haven't heard anything about the Irish and Covid, good or bad. They're not making the news so presumably that's a good thing?

x2boys · 03/08/2021 12:25

I have, nt seen it either, im not irish but my Dad is, i haven't seen it on the covid board either🤷‍♀️

LemonFantaGin · 03/08/2021 12:25

Also Irish and not seen what your talking about, please could you link it?

oneglassandpuzzled · 03/08/2021 12:26

What vitriol? Good for Ireland—we are only safe when all countries are safe.

oneglassandpuzzled · 03/08/2021 12:27

And there were stories about Germany and Spain doing well, along with Canada, weeks ago.

Nope didnt see that either I do however see a lot of vitriol against England on here however.

What? Is there a different mn that I don't know about?
CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/08/2021 12:28

You mean the 'vitriol' that was spouted last year about Ireland being offered vaccine help, the 'vitriol' that was sympathetic, if a little bewildered, with the Irish stance of sticking with the EU supply lines?

The 'vitriol' that was astonished at so many politicans here and across the EU using Ireland as some kind of whipping boy? The 'vitriol' that was angry about politicking?

You may have been 'lording it' but I suspect that's one for you to ponder!

Here in UK we need to ponder why we have allowed journalistic twaddle to persuade us to be such pillocks!

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 03/08/2021 12:30

Ditto.
M4J4 · 03/08/2021 12:33

Well that's embarrassing for you, OP.

2LostSoulsSwimmingInAFishBowl · 03/08/2021 12:34

Fantastic news about Ireland’s vaccination rates being so high! I’m British living in Britain, not denying the Irish have been treated unfairly at times but I don’t know what vitriol you’re talking about in this case? I have no negative feelings against the Irish and I haven’t seen or heard any slagging off of them by people I know or follow on social media Confused maybe it depends what circles you associate with?

M4J4 · 03/08/2021 12:35

Eh? Wasn't Macron shitting all over the AZ vax and then later backtracked and gave it to his elderly pop?

You've got it the wrong way round.

RitaFires · 03/08/2021 12:35

I did think Arlene Foster was lording the faster rollout in Britain a bit but I didn't see her posting on here.

GladAllOver · 03/08/2021 12:39

The low grade tabloids were certainly boasting about UK vaccinations leading the rates in Ireland, Germany etc. It was part of their anti-EU campaign, desperately trying to find something good coming out of Brexit.
