To really wish posters would stop using ‘naice’

It was amusing many years ago when it was first used but now it’s just so old and a little bit lame.

OP posts:
HermioneGrunger · 03/08/2021 07:33

I can't stand 'inspo' so that can get in the banned bin.

Naice is fine.

BritWifeInUSA · 03/08/2021 07:46

“Boils my piss” is the one phrase from here that I can’t stand. I can’t be the only one.

You're not.
MasterBeth · 03/08/2021 08:04

@Maggiesfarm

I don't get it. I presume it's taking the mick out of Merseyside accents but that wears a bit thin after a while and is basically quite rude.
??
user89764 · 03/08/2021 08:07

I don't mind naice, I think it's a word in itself with the additional meaning.

I have an irrational hatred for "comfy" said said here and beyond. It really, really irritates me.

butterpuffed · 03/08/2021 08:25

I really dislike "I couldn't read and run" and then they do ! What's the point Grin

feelingmehtoday · 03/08/2021 08:38

Agreed. Makes me cringe.

Also - Dcat / ddog. Why?! It's one letter extra ffs! Just say cat! 🤷‍♀️

Oh and "menz", particularly when in a sentence such as: "oh can we all please think of da poor menz" when a poster says something remotely positive or empathic towards the male sex.

They can all go away. Thanks. Smile

feelingmehtoday · 03/08/2021 08:39

@sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea

So Biscuit originally meant 'no comment', but now it's kind of a way of saying 'yeah, right'. Meanings evolve. But giving someone a Biscuit is definitely NOT a nice thing to do.

Oh I got one of these on a thread the other day - I was thinking Aww a nice flower 😂😂😂

WomanStanleyWoman · 03/08/2021 08:40

@Dongdingdong

Naice is as pretentious as fuck. It reminds me of a horrid place where I briefly lived

@Zenithbear so is the word “horrid”, according to a previous poster Confused

I agree with said poster! I cringe at the notion that grown women - indeed, anyone who exists outside of an Enid Blyton book - would use the word ‘horrid’ in all seriousness.
WomanStanleyWoman · 03/08/2021 08:44

The biscuit Biscuit started out in fun, but has since become somewhat hostile.

The sad thing is, there are still posters who think ‘Here, have my first ever Biscuit’ is a deeply cutting thing to say.

feelingmehtoday · 03/08/2021 08:46

Can I ask how the fuck a biscuit becomes something with a hostile meaning? 🤷‍♀️😂

user89764 · 03/08/2021 08:50

Genuinely thought the biscuit was a flower, I knew the meaning behind it but never understood why a yellow flower was referred to as a biscuit, until I just zoomed in.....

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2021 08:54

I don't mind 'naice' it's just a MN thing and everyone knows what is means.
I would get rid of all the darked on/spider willies rubbish and 'diagram!' for a parking thread (unless it's a mega complicated scenario we couldn't possibly envisage). Although I am starting to think all parking threads are made up these days.

I also think Biscuit has it's place but the Smile emoji is now the passive aggressive/hostile emoji of choice isn't it?

MedusasBadHairDay · 03/08/2021 09:10

From what I remember the Biscuit started being used to suggest that something was a bit off (suspected goady fucker or troll) when it first became a rule that you weren't allowed to troll hunt. It was shorthand for "I want to say something, but I'm not allowed to say it, so no comment"

So still a "no comment" meaning but now with a bit of a nudge and a wink.

MedusasBadHairDay · 03/08/2021 09:11

On that note, haven't seen anyone do the head tilt in a while.

I cringe at the intelligence of some people
I'm awfully wounded btw

See I genuinely use Smile to be nice 🤷‍♀️😂
God this place is a minefield

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2021 09:22

@feelingmehtoday , Smile is definitely used in a not nice way, now you know you'll probably notice it all the time.

feelingmehtoday · 03/08/2021 09:24

@Sparklingbrook

God all those times I've used it to mean "genuine smile" - people probably thought I was a sarky bitch 🤦🏼‍♀️ do we have an emoji that means "genuine nice thoughts your way"?? So I know for future .... 😂

violetbunny · 03/08/2021 09:28

But without "naice", naice ham wouldn't exist!

Shirleyphallus · 03/08/2021 09:30

God yes to all of these

Could we also add the completely infantile screaming whenever there is a spider mentioned with posters falling over each other to say “burn the house down!” if someone mentions one?

rantymcrantface66 · 03/08/2021 09:31

I don't mind naice. People aren't using it seriously they are taking the piss, often out of themselves. Not much annoys me but if I see 'you do you' written one more time .....

rantymcrantface66 · 03/08/2021 09:33

I always thought the biscuit meant - 'you sound like a bit of a prick to me' ?!

Sparklingbrook · 03/08/2021 09:33

Oh yes 'you do you' that can go in the bin. it means 'Do what you like I don't give a shit and I'm not discussing further'.

I am sad that the shopping list threads are no more, they used to be entertaining. I guess the mood has changed.

rantymcrantface66 · 03/08/2021 09:38

Oh yes 'you do you' that can go in the bin. it means 'Do what you like I don't give a shit and I'm not discussing further'.

I think it means more than that, I don't think three words have ever been so loaded. It oozes judgment. 😆
