To drink every day

Well not every day, but most.

AIBU to have one bottle of cider most days? Bulmers, Kopparberg type.

I rarely have more than one but will have one most days. I don't feel I need it and there are days where I don't, because I don't fancy it or just forgot we have them in, but I do like the taste and tend to have one as my drink with my meal at night.

Yanbu, life is to be lived!

LionSGuard · 01/08/2021 22:22

Thank you! DH made a comment tonight about it (he barely drinks ever) and it made me wonder if it was terrible or something!

That would be a lot for me.

How many units does it add up to over a week?

lovemenomore · 01/08/2021 22:25

1 bottle of cider? As in 1 bottle like you'd get in pub?

Hell no.

I drink 1-2 bottles of wine fri/sat night.

PurpleDaisies · 01/08/2021 22:26

How big is a bottle? Do you drink anything else?

LionSGuard · 01/08/2021 22:28

About 500ml I think they are.

And do you mean alcohol? Not really. I may do if I'm going out for drinks or something, which isn't often, but not at home no.

One bottle daily, esp with a meal, will do you no harm.

AnyFucker · 01/08/2021 22:28

One bottle of that cider that is like fruit juice ?

Yanbu

I think about 14 - 16 maybe.

The alcohol free ones taste exactly the same so could always switch if you wanted to cut the booze

Yep. DH made a bit of a raised eyebrows "ANOTHER one" type comment tonight and made me doubt myself Hmm

I've always been more of a drinker than him though, before kids when we used to go out more often. To him one bottle of cider a month is quite enough 🤣

Each bottle is two units so you’re hitting the top of the recommended intake for the week (14 units) if you are drinking every day. I’d aim for a couple of days alcohol free every week, which is also recommended by the NHS.

PurpleDaisies · 01/08/2021 22:33

Have you tried alcohol free kopperberg? It’s really nice.

I'm not actually bothered about cutting the booze. I just worried people would think it terrible after DHs comment!

I think drinking wine or spirits everyday would be an issue but fruity ciders have such small alcohol content and are more like pop in my opinion. That said it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a few AF days a week.

Throughout lockdown one I got into a bad habit of drinking wine or gin every night of the week and soon realised it was doing me no good by the amount of weight I put on and how tired I was. If it's affecting your life in negative ways then it's a problem, if not crack on.

They’re still two units a bottle. That’s the same as my g and t. I’ve been caught out thinking they were low alcohol and ended up very drunk at a bbq.

LittleMG · 01/08/2021 23:24

It’s not a lot in one go but be careful it’s a slippery slope x

Viviennemary · 01/08/2021 23:26

I havd no idea how many units that is. If its under the recommended amount then fine. If it isn't you need to cut down.

NoProblem123 · 01/08/2021 23:31

It’s not a lot of alcohol no, but it is a habit. Why not try every other night to see how you feel about the ‘off’ nights ?
Or 3 on 4 off ?

How many calories are in those things ?

BillieSpain · 01/08/2021 23:35

yadnbu

Disneyblue · 01/08/2021 23:40

I can easily have a glass of wine most nights.

CrystalMaisie · 01/08/2021 23:58

I think it’s too much and guidelines suggest 3/4 consecutive alcohol free days as being good for your liver to have a break.

AddressLabel · 01/08/2021 23:58

I’ve started drinking about 4 bottles of beer a night for the last couple of weeks. On my last box now though and I won’t be buying any more or I fear I may turn into a raging alcoholic. I’ve got back into my running and the drink if deffo not helping my progress.

CassandraX · 02/08/2021 00:06

Yanbu, but if you're worried: COULD you cut it out if you had to? For example, if your doctor told you you had to cut out all alcohol immediately for some clear medical reason, are you pretty confident you could do it? If not, I'd say there may be a problem.
