I hate memes you see going round saying stuff like 'Show me a woman who'll put a photo online without makeup on.... I'll wait!'

I mean, yes, there are some women who won't and some who may not go in public or be pictured without it absolutely trowelled on (and that's OK, they're free to do that), but I do think plenty of women will go out or share pictures of themselves un-made-up. It's not even an 'Oooh, she's brave' thing, plenty of women don't even think about sharing a photo of themselves without makeup because most of the time they're not wearing any.

I only put a bit of mascara on if it's date night, otherwise I never wear makeup. I think lots of women would say the same

I've worn makeup maybe five times in my life. Most people I know are happily photographed without makeup.
Instagram is not typical of most people's everytday lives.

I feel sorry for the people that share this shit. They clearly don’t know very many women.

I only wear makeup on a big night out not for any day to day activities. I agree there are lots of women who go out without makeup on.

I love wearing makeup when I choose to and very happy without. I think a lot of women are the same, certainly all my friends and everyone I work with. I really don't think anyone cares if I wear make up or not, I don't think they'd notice.

I haven’t worn makeup in several years. Before that it was mascara, bit of lip colour & concealer on the odd occasion.

I think there's quite a gap between no make up and 'trowelled on'.

A lot of the memes are designed to piss you off just so that you then comment on them. Like the ones asking how to add some numbers up.

I think it's got even more common with covid restrictions too, if you've got a mask covering half your face why bother?

I used to stick a little bit on most days but really don't very often now unless I'm going out out, even then, it's a bit of foundation, mascara and lipstick and that's pretty much me done.

I go out plenty without any and also have photos.

I wear make up when I can be bothered, I look better without it but sometimes I fancy a change. I will happily have my picture taken and put online without it.

Make up or not I don’t want photos

I wear makeup a handful of times in a year. Not even once since Covid hit.

Only know myself and three other women who regularly go out without make up. Others say they do but I have Since realised they mean without eye shadow/lipstick but still wearing foundation and mascara. As in natural look. And a lot also have semi permanent eyebrow/eye liner tattoos and false eyelashes and they dont count that as wearing make up either!

I think this is one of many things where either everyone you know does it or no one. I don't know any women who wouldn't leave the house without make-up - almost all the women I know wear it sometimes, but I don't know any who absolutely religiously put it on each morning. I think there are groups, though, where it really would be unusual to be in a situation where you might be photographed and not have make-up on.

I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but wouldn’t choose to share a photo online without it (I’m fairly self conscious about photos at the best of times). I wouldn’t judge what other women do though 🤷‍♀️ and I know women from those who never wear it, to those who wear a full face every day.
I just scroll past those type of things 99/100 though.

I see lots of women around who clearly have these things but I don't have any friends who do. One of my friends got false lashes done for both me and her for her wedding (I was the bridesmaid) - neither of us had ever worn them before and we both absolutely hated them!

Yes, so true! In my younger days I wouldn't have been caught dead without makeup, as I've gotten older I'm so glad I was more comfortable with myself, I have better self esteem & rarely wear makeup! I actually can't stand the feeling of makeup! It feels horrible & boy how I feel women & makeup have changed over the years! I feel like pretty much every female is like a makeup artist now! Gee back in the 90's when I was a teen I'd apply makeup with my hands/fingers! Gee I still do!! My makeup game was strong back then but not now haha my skills are bloody pathetic! Oh well!

I always wear some makeup if I am seeing people outwith my household, even while WFH during Covid - but it is definitely not “trowelled on”. I think there is a huge jump from no makeup at all to trowelled on!

Make up makes my eyes water so I hardly ever wear it. I don't usually post photos of myself online anyway but if there was one that I did want to share, I wouldn't think twice about whether I was wearing make up or not.

I don’t wear make up 90% of the time now. Never worn it going to the gym / popping to the shops. I pop it on if I’m going out/ for a nice lunch/ brunch. And I certainly don’t wear it if it’s sunny and I’m going to be in the sunshine.

I watched a huda beauty video on Insta this pm. She was doing her lips. 5 different products to make her lips look fuller. 5. I still can’t get over that.
