HELP!!!!

I’ve been Googling for hours with no luck and it’s slowly driving me round the bend!!

In the mid/late 90’s I used to go to a club/music venue with my mates, we’d watch local bands play. It was around Napier street/Cobblers yard and it was possibly the strip club - Talk of the town at some point before then.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

the ancient druids was there then I think.

ladygracie · 23/07/2021 19:31

But that was just a pub as far as I remember. There was also the zebra & the haymakers.
I am now wondering if I have misremembered where Napier st is so am off to Google!!

WhyMeWhyNot21 · 23/07/2021 19:32

Yep, that was just outside the Grafton. This was further along towards Newmarket Rd

It rings a very vague bell but so vague I don’t think the information is in my head at all. Sorry! Good luck - I am very interested to find out the answer.

The Rattle and Hum?

WhyMeWhyNot21 · 23/07/2021 19:38

Nope, it’s right on the tip of my tongue! I think it was something quite ordinary…..

Arghhhh!!!!!!!

I can't help sorry, but I worked in Cambridge a lot during the 2000s. We used to go to a fabulous little restaurant that served all sorts of fabulous meals - Italian, Greek, Turkish etc. I've googled it but nothing that comes up looks familiar. It was in the centre of Cambridge, not that far from King's if I remember correctly. I suspect that it is long since closed but I would love to be reminded of what it was called. And if it is still open I want to go back there....

WhyMeWhyNot21 · 23/07/2021 19:47

No, I think the problem is it wasn’t a pub…more of a bar/dungeon/drunk teenager cave. Which is making it harder to find!!

I really appreciate you all helping!!

Can’t help but you’ve reminded me of trips to Cambridge in the 90s to buy our clothes from an ace shop called ‘cult clothing’, as well as the market for 70s style flares. If I went in that shop now I’d be complaining I couldn’t hear myself think Grin

whatswithtodaytoday · 23/07/2021 19:48

I remember a really dodgy (but fun) pub around there, but I think further down towards Midsummer Common? Are you sure you're not going in the wrong direction? No idea of the name though...

DoThePropeller · 23/07/2021 19:48

DH suggested The Wild Rose too.

TravellingSpoon · 23/07/2021 19:49

The Blue Moon on Norfolk street?

ladygracie · 23/07/2021 19:50

I remember a v small pub near there. Maybe a deer name?? The antler or something? V small pub. Someone I know’s parents ran it. Then the blue moon.

WhyMeWhyNot21 · 23/07/2021 19:51

It was definitely Napier street. We used to walk through the Grafton then past the Druids and it was there on the right.

Stupid bloody place Angry

Intriguing... I can't think of anything past the Druids, but that's probably because I just stuck there!

I miss all the grotty little old man pubs that we took over on Friday nights Grin

DP lived in Cambridge and after some head scratching and googling he thinks it was called the Boatrace.

whatswithtodaytoday · 23/07/2021 19:56

The Boatrace was on the corner of Burleigh Street, it was famous.

WhyMeWhyNot21 · 23/07/2021 19:57

I spent lots of time in the Boatrace…I miss it so much!! So no, not the Boatrace!
