WWYD- isolating & need to go out

callmebettie · 22/07/2021 07:38

Briefly I'm still isolating due to travel guidelines and only having 1 vaccination
DH is back at work (working away) as he is double jabbed so isn't effected - can't afford for him not to work!
And kids are off school (positive cases in class)

DS has split his chin open, it's clean etc just the flap of skin he keeps catching and making it bleed so need a good dressing to keep it covered as plasters and steristrips won't stick so I really need to go the pharmacy with him and get a proper dressing or it'll get infected most likely!
Also my puppy has just come into season and she needs some knickers lol !!
WWYD, go the pharmacy or wait until tomorrow when DH is home ??

I don't have anyone near me to help either !

Well you can’t go out.

How about trying amazon same day delivery? You may have to buy some more things to get free delivery.

Or phone a local shop and explain the situation.

Theboywiththearabstrap · 22/07/2021 07:41

I’d order the dog knickers from Amazon and call the GP about the chin and ask that they do a home visit or if they can suggest something else.

warmfluffytowels · 22/07/2021 07:41

Surely a neighbour could help if you explained the situation? I'd definitely help out a neighbour in your position.

You can't go out - if you're isolating due to travel then you face a big fine if you're caught.

But she can hardly knock on a neighbour's door can she?!
AlexaShutUp · 22/07/2021 07:43

You shouldn't go out. Do you have any friends or neighbours who could go to the pharmacy on your behalf? Could DH come home from work? Could a local pharmacy or taxi company deliver?

Failing that, maybe ring 111 for advice?

AlexaShutUp · 22/07/2021 07:44

No, but lots of people have contact numbers for their neighbours?

Dithercats · 22/07/2021 07:46

The rules allow you to leave your house in medical emergency - phone ahead for the pharmacy and explain, ask them to see you outside etc.
Sort the puppy thing online tho.

Weepingwillows12 · 22/07/2021 07:47

Why dont you call the pharmacy and explain. I know a lot were doing home deliveries in lockdown might at a minimum do a safe delivery to your car if you park next to the pharmacy so you dont come in to contact with anyone

PeonyTime · 22/07/2021 07:51

Amazon next day delivery.
DH go shopping in an extended lunch break, and bring it home tonight.
Ring the GP or Pharmacy and see if they will drop off what you need.

PeonyTime · 22/07/2021 07:52

Sorry, scrap the DH idea if he's working away.

If you live hear me, and sort of know me, I'd go shopping for you in those circumstances.

LIZS · 22/07/2021 07:56

Ask your gp or 111 for advice.

PamTheSpam · 22/07/2021 07:57

Are you on FB? There are usually people on there who will offer to run errands
It's hard, but you can't go out

AnotherDayAnotherCake · 22/07/2021 08:02

@Theboywiththearabstrap

I’d order the dog knickers from Amazon and call the GP about the chin and ask that they do a home visit or if they can suggest something else.
I’d do this too. I wouldn’t want to risk the scar of patching the chin up myself.
LittleOwl153 · 22/07/2021 08:02

How big is the flapping skin? Are you sure it doesn't need stitching?

The dog you are going to have to deal with through a delivery or something but I think you should call 111 re your son.

Frazzled2207 · 22/07/2021 08:02

I’d go to the pharmacy Tbh. You’re quarantining not isolating and it’s definitely needed. I wouldn’t judge anyone doing this in this situation.

As for the puppy Amazon prime is your friend surely.

Barton10 · 22/07/2021 08:04

Superdrug do same day deliveries so I would try them

Frazzled2207 · 22/07/2021 08:04

Ps you’d be surprised who can help locally. Families round here are perpetually isolating etc and I’ve readily helped with taking non-isolating kids to school etc. If you are a member of a class whatsapp I’d be very surprised if nobody could help you out.

HelloMissus · 22/07/2021 08:04

You are allowed to leave your house for medical treatment.
That is the law.

Terhou · 22/07/2021 08:05

Phone your GP, don't risk treating the injury yourself.

MadeOfStarStuff · 22/07/2021 08:06

Order dog knickers online, make do as best you can until they arrive.

Surely with kids in school you must have a friend or acquaintance who could collect a dressing for an injured child?

iluvalfredo · 22/07/2021 08:09

I'm pretty sure if you phoned the pharmacy they would be able to help you out and deliver to you. They will have staff out delivering medication at some point. Phone them as soon as they open. If not could you post on local Facebook page?

AnnaSW1 · 22/07/2021 08:10

You are definitely allowed to leave for treatment for you child. For the dog I'd order online.

Daisy829 · 22/07/2021 08:12

If your husband is home tomorrow can he not get what you need? Pharmacies do deliveries so might be worth trying that.

Deux · 22/07/2021 08:20

Good grief. How many complicated, multilayered solutions are going to be offered to you I wonder.

If you or your child need medical treatment you can leave home. Pretty obvious really isn’t it? If you have a minor injuries unit maybe you could try there.

nellly · 22/07/2021 08:22

Agree with Facebook, a few people near me have posted similar predicaments either for themselves or on behalf of older neighbours who don't have Facebook and people have stepped up and helped.
