To think my cat is an ungrateful little furry thing

It being so hot I have been changing her water more often today - lovely fresh water on the hour every hour... is she drinking it ... hell no... she'd rather drink the washing up water Confused

Her lovely cosy bed rejected in favour of a cardboard box

Dinner refused and jumps on chopping board to steal chiken when my back's turned for half a second

And I bought her a lovely expensive grooming glove to try to relieve her of some of that horrid moulting fur.. she runs away as soon as she sees it... we've now discovered that what she actually wants is for us to use the lint roller... we tried as an experiment and she just lies there purring occasionally rolling over so we can do her tummy. Well if I'd known that I'd never have wasted my money

YANBU The cat is being utterly ungrateful and catty and does not deserve the effort
YABU I should learn to anticipate my cats needs and accept that the furry one is always right

However, the furry one is always right.

Op tbh you sound like you are still in the very early stages of your vocation as Dcat Slave....
You need to study harder imo.
Or risk dcat finding a better one...

Welcome to the world of cats - they’re always right and do what they want .

user1471538283 · 20/07/2021 17:22

Our two are terrors in their own ways. Boycat is worse; greedy but only likes nice food, constantly wanting food, wants let out then in, scratches.

Girlcat is much more grateful but she would rather a box or gravel or a hard dresser to her lovely fluffy bed.

Tashface · 20/07/2021 17:23

As I was reading that title, I was looking forward to seeing some right good sweary words describing the cat, but I was bitterly disappointed that it was just 'furry thing' Grin

listsandbudgets · 20/07/2021 17:24

She's a cat of great decorum I can't bring myself to be rude about her :)

I've given up buying my cats nice things and keep them entertained with hair bands, rolled up pieces of paper and cardboard boxes.

Ratalie · 20/07/2021 17:32

My rats get lovely meals every night. Last night it was salmon (bought for them, we're veggie), steamed veggies, chopped bananas, coconut and various grains/cereals.

They're still rustling for scraps in the garbage, given half a chance.

Badnessinthefolds · 20/07/2021 17:38

Oh go on, I'll be the first to say it...

YABVVVVU to not post a picture of the furry overlord for us to admire Grin

ThatDamnedDog · 20/07/2021 17:53

My stupid, ungrateful furry bastard doesn’t even realise that he is a cat, he thinks that he is a miniature dog. The evil sod even drinks out of the toilet if the lid gets left up 🤮
Clearly I have failed as a cat slave, although he (and the dogs) are a bit lovely Grin

FelicityBeedle · 20/07/2021 18:01

I got myself a lump of cheese, I needed the salt and it’s hot. The cat hounded onto my lap, knocked it kit of my hand with a razor paw and shot out the back door. He was found sharing it with his girlfriend from next door. Git

Shodan · 20/07/2021 18:08

One of mine tottered downstairs to demand Dreamies, which I gave her, naturally.

Vigorous shaking of the packet failed to tempt Boy Cat away from his spot in the sitting room where he was lying flumphed out on the floor- so I took the Dreamies to him and scattered a few right by his nose. He didn't even sit up to eat them- he stayed lying on his side and ate them like that Grin

DdraigGoch · 20/07/2021 18:14

You are ALL unreasonable for not sharing pictures of your cats.

No room for gratitude in the master-slave relationship.

ThatDamnedDog · 20/07/2021 18:31

I once bought a personalised wooden crate for my cat, at great expense - dumb move in my part; I also change water frequently but puddles and cars are better to lick; and when he didn’t like our new car, I dutifully cleaned up after he threw up in the middle of the two day old bonnet.

He’s a very floofy arsehole at times - I just moved him as he lay in front of my car as I tried to pull up in the drive.

LindyLou2020 · 20/07/2021 18:36

DOGS. HAVE. MASTERS.
CATS. HAVE. STAFF..........rinse and repeat until this fact is ingrained into our psyches.
No ifs, no buts.

ilovesooty · 20/07/2021 18:37

My friend's two cats are referred to by both of us as the ungrateful little sods. Grin

Me too!! I was saying "bastard" in my mind Grin
SqueakyPeaks · 20/07/2021 18:41

Last night I let Martha cat in through the utility, then immediately out through the kitchen, whereupon she trotted round the front and re-entered through the window!
