Appealing a ping?!

Does anyone know if you can 'appeal' a ping? Got the email of doom this evening which states I can come out of isolation on Thursday 22nd. I believe this means I was in contact with a positive person last Sunday (ie. over a week ago). On that Sunday my family and I were holed up in a villa in Mallorca. We did not leave the villa on Saturday, Sunday or until late on Monday. We landed in the UK Tuesday morning and not knowing, have been on general circulation since then (Mallorca was at the time Green, we are double vaxxed, we had a negative fit to fly home and a negative PCR day 2). It seems weird after a sociable 7 days to now stay in for 4 days and very strange that the system has alerted us when we didn't meet a soul that day and knew no-one in Mallorca. Do we just have to accept the isolation or can you appeal?

Can you at least sit outside by the front door if you have some space around the caravan?

@TakeYourFinalPosition

Move husbands' lunch to the next day? That's not a big ask.

You could also call T&T and see if they'll confirm when/where the contact was.

I hope the week goes quickly for you Flowers

If it’s from the flight, I’d assume all passengers have been informed- if you’re not ignoring the email OP, I would be following up on it as it does sound out of sync timings? May just be a catch all notification, rather than specific to say passengers in next seat to you?

But no, that's not how it works. Only the immediate rows surrounding the person who tested positive are contacted if it's the flight, not the whole flight. I think the number of rows depends on the type of aircraft.

It is a risk with flying right now, although to be fair, I know a decent amount of people who are flying for work and none have been contacted on return yet. It seems to be pot luck, much the same as going out and about.

I thought this but from what I've been hearing all passengers are told to isolate. We just received notification today having returned from Malta on Thursday. To be fair as the plane was half empty we were allowed to move seats which would make isolation by seat number pointless. Having heard of quite a few incidences now it's going to be a real deterrent to travel

You sound so indignant , like you can’t believe this could have happened when all you wanted to do was chill out quietly at a menorcan villa.

It’s obviously risky to be in close proximity to hundreds of people on a flight right now.

Angelica. Please calm down. I'm not indignant. I'm double vaxxed and visited a green country, as per the rules. My post was asking about the appeal process. My ping suggested Sunday, flight was Tuesday. We are self isolating. Nothing for you to get too worked up about.

Sounds like it was the flight or the airport at either end.
