To want to stick my fork into DH

We’re having dinner, I keep turning the TV up as all I can hear is the noise he’s making from eating. Opening the mouth - a noise, chewing food, awful sound of food swishing around the mouth, swallowing omg can that be more noisy? Why can’t some people eat quietly? When I tell him to eat quieter he has the audacity to tell me to go to the doctor as there’s clearly an issue with me! I really want to prod him with my fork, it’s making me enraged. Should I prod him?

Meantime, stab him.

Whinge · 15/07/2021 19:57

I can't believe you married this savage. Shock

I wouldn't had made it past the first dinner date, let alone down the aisle.

DinosaurDiana · 15/07/2021 19:58

LTB ! You

30degreesandmeltinghere · 15/07/2021 19:58

You need to practice The Look. .

takealettermsjones · 15/07/2021 19:58

Prod him OP. Although I don't know what he can do about the sound of him swallowing, he needs to close his mouth while he's eating!

Mooloolabababy · 15/07/2021 20:01

I feel you op!!! I never used to have a problem with the noise of dh eating but now I can't stand it! I get the rage if he even looks at a bag of Doritos Angry

BigMamaFratelli · 15/07/2021 20:02

Oh god, just prod him!!!!

When I was pregnant I had to leave the office when a particular colleague ate his lunch. Pretty sure he only survived because he's one of my closest friendsGrin

But you have my sympathies

Aprilx · 15/07/2021 20:03

Go for it.

Cantchooseaname · 15/07/2021 20:04

Misophonia. My husband has it. Some sounds induce rage in him.

mummysquasher · 15/07/2021 20:06

Do it!

Ponoka7 · 15/07/2021 20:11

I'd met a lovely man who would give me the earth, but he attacked and somehow ingested his food by luck, rather than ate it. I couldn't contemplate having anything physical with him, after witnessing it.

FinallyHere · 15/07/2021 20:12

When did you first notice ?

Has he got worse over time? DH sometimes breaths through his mouth while eating. I find it very unpleasant but all I have to do is glance at his moth and he shuts it.

I wouldn't be label it, it is just not very pleasant if people eat with their mouths open

Chickenyhead · 15/07/2021 20:14

I think using the fork is reasonable.

SpringLoadedJizz · 15/07/2021 20:15

I'm not too bad with some things but people eating cereal or slurping anything really annoys me.

DH has taken to eating Pot Noodles recently, I've not been well so they've been handy for him. Not only do I get him slurping with them but it's the noise of him constantly blowing on the noodles that makes me want to throw something at him. There must be a good 3 or 4 times of "whoooooo" sounds for every mouthful. Angry He even ate one in the bedroom when I was on the bed napping the other day. Envy

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 15/07/2021 20:18

LTB.

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 15/07/2021 20:19

How come you married him? I’d have to kill him.

MissConductUS · 15/07/2021 20:22

The fork won't do it. Try something more effective, like an electric cattle prod.

Badoukas · 15/07/2021 20:32

Stab with breadknife

User0ne · 15/07/2021 20:43

YABU for having the TV on while you eat. Stab your DH and turn it off

babbaloushka · 15/07/2021 20:44

We've just removed the cavity wall insulation here, you can bring him round.

Drivingmeupthewall · 15/07/2021 20:52

I think maybe just set him on fire.

Cooldryplace · 15/07/2021 20:53

TV at dinner? Shock

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 15/07/2021 21:03

No, sorry OP but he can't be as bad as mine. He inhales his food. I've never seen someone cram so much into their mouth in one go, and then get it all over their face.
He is sitting next to me now eating ting chocolate drops that honestly melt in your mouth in seconds and he sounds like a horse grinding their teeth together while they eat. How can that be possible. Why is he smashing his teeth together so hard!

YawningAngel · 15/07/2021 21:04

I have misophonia, and eating sounds in particular send me into a rage. My DP and both his DC have some weird collagen deficiency. This means that on top of them all attacking meals like hyenas falling on a carcass, anytime they open their mouths wide their jaw makes a popping noise that makes me feel angry and sick.

However...eating is a normal activity. I can't expect them not to do it.

What I have done is ban roast pork, as crackling is the absolute worst and will bring me to tears of rage. I also grew my hair long, so I can enjoy a family dinner and appear normal, by wearing earplugs until all the chewing is over with.

If anyone opens a big bag of crisps, I just go for a walk or go do some gardening.

YANBU for wanting to stab him with a fork. You would be unreasonable if you actually did it tho.

AddsVsGeorgs · 15/07/2021 21:06

He makes me rage 😂
