To want to stick my fork into DH

We’re having dinner, I keep turning the TV up as all I can hear is the noise he’s making from eating. Opening the mouth - a noise, chewing food, awful sound of food swishing around the mouth, swallowing omg can that be more noisy? Why can’t some people eat quietly? When I tell him to eat quieter he has the audacity to tell me to go to the doctor as there’s clearly an issue with me! I really want to prod him with my fork, it’s making me enraged. Should I prod him?

Mine eats like an absolute pig honestly. Even the kids have noticed. Stuffs as much as he can at once, eats with mouth open, jaw clicks really loud, food swishing around his mouth. It ruins every meal I have honestly!
Told him in the nicest way ever, majority pissed off with me but made no effort to change!!

Are more people eating with their mouth open these days? It seems to me that there are, and there's less importance placed on eating nicely & quietly. Maybe it was growing up in a strict Irish household, but I remember there never being any hesitation from my mother to scold us with "close your mouth when you eat! You're not a pig!". Nowadays it seems almost acceptable to eat like a wild animal.

No I need to leave the room a lot when my partner eats. I get that rage a lot. Cereal is the worst, slurping. I cannot stand it

I’ve had someone make nasty comments about me eating which upset me. I mean my mouth was closed and I was chewing normally so I don’t know what I could have done differently other than suck the food.

However perhaps hypocritical of me I do relate to your disgust as I have been around people who do seem to slosh the food in their mouths, but I make effort not to say anything and hide disgust. I think telling people to eat quietly is rude. If he’s at home he should be able to eat without being criticised. Obviously it’s different if someone is eating with their mouth open.

You sound like Aunt Sally talking to Worzell.
