To take more alcohol than allowed to Wilderness Festival?

4 day festival with limit of either 12 beers or 2 bottles of wine.

Would I be unreasonable to take more than this measly limit?

I'd have to be creative in my packing and I guess being caught will depend on how thorough their searches are.

Has anyone been that can say a bit about security searches on entry?

I’ll say one thing: baby food pouches.

KilljoysDutch · 11/07/2021 18:19

Can you not just go without the booze? It's not really worth the risk of getting refused entry.

FunnyInjury · 11/07/2021 18:21

Why is this? Is it a family type festival? Seems quite bizarre Confused

SmidgenofaPigeon · 11/07/2021 18:21

Empty sun cream bottle.

Fill with vodka or gin or whatever.

Dazedandconfused10 · 11/07/2021 18:23

@KilljoysDutch they won't refuse entry, just confiscate it.

MichelleScarn · 11/07/2021 18:24

Wine bra?

TheOrangeSharked · 11/07/2021 18:24

What you need are those tampon flasks

Bobbybobbins · 11/07/2021 18:24

Gin in a water bottle?!

Macncheeseballs · 11/07/2021 18:25

That's per person surely

Macncheeseballs · 11/07/2021 18:26

Vodka lollies

SmidgenofaPigeon · 11/07/2021 18:26

In my experience they will definitely open water bottles for a sniff. Way too obvious.

You have to be more creative, use empty (well washed!) body lotion or sun cream bottles and fill them.

5foot5 · 11/07/2021 18:26

Sounds a bit controlling. I guess they want to avoid rowdy drunken behaviour but that feels like a low limit.

Matteoisthatyou · 11/07/2021 18:26

How are they going to find it? Stick a bottle of gin in your tent, are packed into clothes. They aren’t going to search everyone j less you make it obvious.
You’d be rinsed of money anyway spending 4 days at a festival…

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 11/07/2021 18:27

Are you allowed out once in?

(I'm guessing its to protect bar sales!)

RJnomore1 · 11/07/2021 18:27

4 days? 2 bottles of wine?

Can you buy alcohol on site?

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2021 18:27

12 beers for 4 days?
WTF?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 11/07/2021 18:27

It’s to protect the bar sales, not because they’re worried about drunkenness.

Matteoisthatyou · 11/07/2021 18:27

‘ Sounds a bit controlling. I guess they want to avoid rowdy drunken behaviour but that feels like a low limit.’

No, they want to make more money at their bars. Lots more places doing that this year trying to claw back money they’ve lost in the last year or so.

Teaandbicciesplease · 11/07/2021 18:30

If they sell alcohol on site I'm surprised you're allowed to take any tbh. If it was literally only 2 bottles of wine for 4 days and no option to purchase more I'd arrange for a friend to fly in supplies by drone!

AnUnoriginalUsername · 11/07/2021 18:30

Put it inside your tent before you roll it up, they're not gonna open your tent out to look for a bit of booze.

WeatheringStorms22 · 11/07/2021 18:32

Box of wine...remove the bag, tape it round your middle 😁

SirenSays · 11/07/2021 18:32

It depends what your drink of choice is, I always take spirits into festivals, I don't drink beer or wine. Its pretty much the only time I drink.
Cut water bottles in half and boil the tops off so the seal doesn't crack and then empty another bottle, refil with clear spirits and screw the still sealed lids on.
Apparently particularly savvy security can tell the difference if they shake them because bubbles form differently in water but this might be a myth as I have never ever had this happen.

ghostyslovesheets · 11/07/2021 18:33

buy a cheap big bra - get some plasic bottle bags (like bags/water flask things) - fill with booze - one down each cup - return to car when needed to fill up - they wont search your bra (I was introduced to 'tit Bacardi' at a festival a few years back!

also wrap things in your tent bag

Is Wilderness one of the ones struggling financially? If so, you ought to support them properly if you want them to survive.
