It's advertised as maternity shapewear, which is bad enough, but it looks like a fake belly to me?

I don't think they are selling the weird belly - just the pants....

SimonJT · 10/07/2021 17:41

You don’t actually get the model included when yu buy a garment.

Bitofachinwag · 10/07/2021 17:41

I think the model is wearing a fake belly.

JaffaRaf · 10/07/2021 17:42

Looks like maternity shape wear to me, maybe the model isn’t pregnant? I think your imagination has gone a little OTT.

Lolwhat · 10/07/2021 17:42

You don’t actually get the model when you buy from ASOS

FrankButchersDickieBow · 10/07/2021 17:42

Don't think the belly comes with it haha. That's probably just to show how it stretches over your bump

Teaandbicciesplease · 10/07/2021 17:42

@Bitofachinwag

I think the model is wearing a fake belly.
Ah, ok! That makes more sense...

The models that model the clothes usually are wearing fake bellies and aren’t pregnant so that would be why it Looks that way

Heyyeahyouwiththesadface · 10/07/2021 17:44

ASOS seemingly couldn’t find a pregnant model

We’d like you to know our model is wearing a foam bump

SleepingStandingUp · 10/07/2021 17:45

What's wrong with maternity shape wear op? The whole point of it being Maternity rather than just buying a larger size is that it isn't right over the bump but shapes everywhere else and supports the bump

Timeforabiscuit · 10/07/2021 17:45

I think the model is wearing a fake belly, rather than it being part of the shape wear - does it mention padding in the description?

TotorosCatBus · 10/07/2021 17:46

Models advertising pregnancy fashion are not usually pregnant.

Teaandbicciesplease · 10/07/2021 17:54

@SleepingStandingUp I thought shapewear was supposed to make you appear slimmer? Although I've already massively misunderstood this listing so I'll bow out now Grin

I'm confused about why maternity Spanx are a thing Hmm

Generally yes but the maternity ones will smooth the other bits and not squash the belly. That's why the panel is sheer

Saoirse82 · 11/07/2021 15:27

@ouchmyfeet likely because not everyone has a perfectly round bump, mine was more of a B belly til it popped and just had me looking flabby so I had to wear a belly band to round it out a little.

Cazzovuoi · 11/07/2021 15:30

The psrt that goes over the bump isn’t tight and spanky… it’s lighter, see through material so it doesn’t compress them bump. So you can see the belly through it. The seam around the non spanky part makes it look fake.

Thanks for the guffaw though.

Toottooot · 11/07/2021 15:32

Shapewear was the only underwear I found comfortable in pregnancy. I didn’t wear to conceal my size or look slimmer before anyone accuses me of that. It was the only underwear that felt supportive.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 11/07/2021 15:35

It’s for the model, they use a fake belly on all the ASOS maternity section. I think it’s funny. The models do weird sort of poses you’d never really do with a pregnant belly 😂

Crowtooyo · 11/07/2021 15:37

Op I'm stuck in isolation and I have to say this gave me such a giggle.. thank you 😀

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/07/2021 15:39

Manic20201 · 11/07/2021 15:40
