To ask how much you pay for Gas & electric combined

As the title says really.

Taken back by the fact our estimated gas & electric usage and therefore recommended monthly payment actually turns out to be a quarter of what we're using.

Either the energy company have really underestimated - deliberately?! To make it seem cheap? OR something we're doing is going really very wrong!

4 bed house in the SE (if that makes any difference?)

According to our usage it's around £200 a month combined for gas and electric?

Furrydogmum · 08/07/2021 22:19

Large 4 bed semi, 7 adults, £240 per month plus £70 water rates - too many people to risk a water meter..

dopeyduck · 08/07/2021 22:20

£66 a month - 2 bed small detached house. 1 adult and 2 children.

dementedpixie · 08/07/2021 22:27

2 adults and 2 teens in 4 bed detached in Scotland - I currently pay £135 per month but usage can vary. I submit monthly meter readings and then my account (with Octopus) shows exactly what I've used
Last month I used £80 electric and £30 gas
The month before it was £80 electric and £40 gas

In January it was £80 for each as it was colder then (I'm in Scotland).

Monthly amount means nothing if its not matching up with usage

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/07/2021 22:28

£90 combined, 3 bed house. We use a LOT and have the heating on loads.

WorraLiberty · 08/07/2021 22:29

Roughly £150 per month

I pay mine quarterly but that's what it roughly works out at.

Bluebellbike · 08/07/2021 22:29

£32.00. 3 bed semi. Greater Manchester. I live alone. But I do have solar panels and claim the Warm Home Grant.

Merryoldgoat · 08/07/2021 22:30

£110 - 1990s house with excellent insulation. 3 double bed with a very large open plan ground floor. We pay less to heat this that our previous flat which was half the size.

And we don’t skimp on heat - it’s Barbados temp Chez Merryoldgoat

1950s 3 bed semi, 2 adults, one 18 year old and one 9 year old and we pay £180 a month combined.

warmfluffytowels · 08/07/2021 22:32

Two bed terrace in the NW. We pay £60 per month. Two adults and we're not stingy with the tumble drier or the heating!

FrDamo · 08/07/2021 22:35

Long term average £150/month (£1800 total = £1200 electricity and £600 gas). We got a smart meter last year and as a consequence have worked hard on eliminating the electricity wastage (underfloor heating, running extra fridgefreezer in the garage etc). Hoping to see improved figures at our next review.
