WildWestWanda · 06/07/2021 20:43

Why?

PandemicPalava · 06/07/2021 20:43

No. I stop when I'm full. I used to always finish but it wasn't healthy. I don't make my daughter finish either

Rabbitheadlights · 06/07/2021 20:44

Nope, it's not necessary. It's some kind of throwback to the 80s notion that one must finish the plate. My children are not expected to clear their plates either. Eat until you are full and not beyond.

Spottybluepyjamas · 06/07/2021 20:44

No - I stop when I'm full, I hate the feeling of being too full.

TheNestedIf · 06/07/2021 20:45

I always have to finish food, as I can't bear food waste, but it doesn't have to be at that one meal. Leftovers can go in the fridge for another time.

girlmom21 · 06/07/2021 20:46

Nope.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 06/07/2021 20:47

Usually, I leave food in the dish/pan etc though. I dislike really full plates. I freeze or chill the leftovers. If anyone would like more they can have it though (less food waste this way)

ehb102 · 06/07/2021 20:48

Only if I weighed/measured my food before putting it on the plate because I'm creating a calorie deficit. If not, I try to eat mindfully and be aware of when I am just full.

kindaclassy · 06/07/2021 20:50

I tend to serve portions small enough that they get finished, anyone can have seconds or thirds, but if I am full, no.

I teach my kids not to pile food on their plate!

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2021 20:51

Usually, yes Blush

sempiternal · 06/07/2021 20:51

Nearly always! I never stop when I'm full.

WeWantAMackerelNotASprat · 06/07/2021 20:52

No and neither do my children

gamerchick · 06/07/2021 20:52

Depends. I stop eating before I feel full. When I've had enough. If that means there's some left then so be it.

JellyfishandShells · 06/07/2021 20:53

A very full plate or a large portion turns me off, so I would not finish it in that case.. I tend not to serve myself much in the first place , then take some more if I feel like it. If my eyes have been bigger than my stomach my DH has the metabolism of a teenager and is always willing to help out.

Menora · 06/07/2021 20:54

I’m dieting so no, I stop when I am full up

cherrypiepie · 06/07/2021 20:55

Yes I can't leave food and don't like food waste. I realise this is a flaw and would Feelmlesa compelled to clear a plate.

Occasionally I will leave some for ''Mr manners" which Is a phrase I learnt from call the midwife!

Temple29 · 06/07/2021 20:55

Usually yes but I only serve what I think I’ll finish. If it’s too much then I don’t and don’t expect children to either.

Peraltiago · 06/07/2021 20:56

Hardly ever! The dog does very well out of me Grin.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 06/07/2021 20:56

Depends what I’m eating.

viques · 06/07/2021 20:56

I take what I need, and eat it,if I cook too much it gets used up at another meal, so yes plates are always cleared.

Morgan12 · 06/07/2021 20:56

Yes but I have small(ish) portions.

Liverbird77 · 06/07/2021 20:57

We tend to serve ourselves so I take what I think I will want/need and usually finish it. Tonight, for example, was roast chicken and veg.
Saturday is pizza night and that ALWAYS gets eaten!
I would leave food if I was full, but I don't like waste so it would go to leftovers.

RampantIvy · 06/07/2021 20:57

Yes, because I know how much I am going to eat and don't overload my plate. I really dislike food waste.

Obviously this applies to food that I have cooked. If eating out I don't usually finish my plate because portion sizes these days are way too large.

tangone · 06/07/2021 20:57

No I stop when I’m full.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/07/2021 20:58

Always. I put on my plate what I think I can eat. Why would I serve myself a huge amount I can't then finish? How wasteful.
