No. I have quite a small appetite and struggle to finish a plate. Leftovers get saved for the next days lunch.

DH on the other hand always clears his plate.

RunningFromInsanity · 06/07/2021 21:20

Yes, I have poor portion control and no self control.

percheron67 · 06/07/2021 21:21

Never. I always leave a little for Mr. Manners.

knittingaddict · 06/07/2021 21:22

No. I stop when I'm full.

kowari · 06/07/2021 21:22

Yes, at home. If I'm in a restaurant and it's a part of the meal I wouldn't serve myself, like olives, or if it's too much I would leave some bread or chips or similar. At home I just serve myself what I want and the rest is put away as leftovers.

MintCassis · 06/07/2021 21:23

Yes if I’ve served it, I only put on the plate what I’ll eat. If I’ve cooked more than we’ll eat, I adjust the portion sizes so we get another meal or two out of the leftovers. Out for dinner I stop eating when I’m full which usually means I leave some food.

MirandaMarple · 06/07/2021 21:25

Yes. I put enough food on my plate so it will fill me up. Not too much that I get full and leave it.

funtimefrank · 06/07/2021 21:26

Yes. I am very poor at stopping when I'm full. I have trained myself to only cook what I will eat though (I am a veggie in a house of carnivores and generally have something separate). I eat off a small plate and stick to portion sizes according to packets for stuff like rice or pasta etc.

Ironically the one time I do leave stuff is when I have a takeaway which comes in cartons especially an Indian. Leftovers for the next day are the treat.

If it's a pizza though I eat the whole bloody thing

kowari · 06/07/2021 21:27

I don't eat until I am full because I don't serve large portions in the first place. Occasionally it's not enough and DS or I might either go back for more or have a snack later.

Oblomov21 · 06/07/2021 21:27

Yes. Because I mostly serve, so I dish the amount I want.

BillyIsMyBunny · 06/07/2021 21:27

Yes, pretty much always and even when I’m uncomfortably full. I feel a compulsion to eat everything. Only exception would be if I didn’t like the taste of it.

DinosaurDiana · 06/07/2021 21:28

Yes. That’s how as I was brought up, not to waste food.

DoctorStrangeness · 06/07/2021 21:28

No, I always leave half the lettuce leaf I allow myself every third Sunday. Any more than that would be greed.

And I boil my crockery in Fabulosa.

Blue5238 · 06/07/2021 21:29

At home, yes. Because I serve out smaller portions and then have seconds for those that want or it gets saved for another meal.
In a restaurant, no.

spurs4ever · 06/07/2021 21:30

Yes because I was made to as a child. I do feel it partly contributes to my weight problems now. I've never made my children finish a plate if they don't want it.

NightoftheLivingBread · 06/07/2021 21:30

Yes

camelfinger · 06/07/2021 21:32

Yes and wish I didn’t. I can see my parents cringing when I don’t force the DC to finish every mouthful.

purpleme12 · 06/07/2021 21:40

Well not always but I guess I do a lot of the time
But if I've eaten a lot I just make up for it by not eating for the rest of the day or only a little bit the rest of the day

purpleme12 · 06/07/2021 21:43

@camelfinger

Yes and wish I didn’t. I can see my parents cringing when I don’t force the DC to finish every mouthful.
It makes me think of a time when went went to my daughter's friend's grandma She was saying to my child to eat up more And it was obviously what the friend was used to too My child didn't want to say anything back but I could tell she'd had enough. I had to step in and say if you don't want it you don't have to eat any more. And I think the friend said something I just said I think it's better to stop when you're full and you don't have to eat it all. I'm glad I was there really
Nataliefrances123 · 06/07/2021 21:46

Yes. I am quite greedy Confused

EmpressSuiko · 06/07/2021 21:47

Not always but I do like to make sure my portion sizes are small, that way I don’t waste anything.

BronwenFrideswide · 06/07/2021 21:50

@RampantIvy

Yes, because I know how much I am going to eat and don't overload my plate. I really dislike food waste.

Obviously this applies to food that I have cooked. If eating out I don't usually finish my plate because portion sizes these days are way too large.

Same here. Overloaded plates put me off.
NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 06/07/2021 21:51

Yes, I love food. I generally know how much I need and I'm the one dishing up, so I don't overload the plate. however, I also choose the meal time, so if I'm eating its because I'm hungry and ready for a meal.

Planty13 · 06/07/2021 21:52

Usually. It’s a bad habit.

OkOkWhatsNext · 06/07/2021 21:54

I truly don’t understand why people would put more on their plate than they can eat and then throw away the rest..? And congratulate themselves on only eating until they are full? What a waste! Put the right amount on your plate, keep the rest for another meal? I also really hate people telling me not to tell my children to eat all they are given. I give them a healthy amount of food. They should eat all of it. They aren’t able to judge what is an appropriate amount, they think it’s appropriate to leave all the green veg because they are ‘full’. Nope, I have served an appropriate sized portion, you eat everything that I bought, spent time cooking and served you, it’s just rude to leave it.
