To think losing a stone in a week is impossible

Without being seriously unwell

Maybe if you are already seriously obese, like 40 stone or something. Otherwise no.

gamerchick · 03/07/2021 13:13

Depends on the starting weight.

Bryonyshcmyony · 03/07/2021 13:13

No it's not possible

Lockheart · 03/07/2021 13:19

OP, you keep asking health questions on here - I'd really recommend you speak to a professional in real life, I'm not sure how helpful strangers on the internet will be - remember, you have no idea of how qualified anyone on here is and have no idea of anyone's motivations for posting.

Wildtimes78889 · 03/07/2021 13:21

It’s not a personal question it’s an ad I’ve just seen

Hmm
DFAMA · 03/07/2021 13:22

Maybe if you chop an arm off or something?

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 03/07/2021 13:23

Well, if you take your shoe completely off and shake it out properly, it's possible.

But if it's a diet ad, of course it isn't.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 03/07/2021 13:24

I've just lost one in 4 weeks, but unless you have a very large amount to lose it will be nearly impossible to do a stone in one week

KihoBebiluPute · 03/07/2021 13:26

Quack non-licenced medications that may contain substances with serious potential to damage your kidneys and liver might well be able to create a weight loss of this magnitude in very overweight individuals. The weight lost would mostly be water rather than fat.

To lose a stone of weight in pure fat in a week one would have to be losing 2lb per day. 2lb of fat contains 7000 calories. You couldn't generate that level of calorie deficit and live. You'd need to be running daily ultra-mararthons while eating nothing but carrot sticks.

Amdone123 · 03/07/2021 13:28

No it is not possible. Slow n steady wins the race.

Ozberry · 03/07/2021 13:30

I lost a stone the day I gave birth to my whopper, but it’s not an every week occurrence.

When people do massive weight loss there are usually other factors at play - they eat a massive meal before first weigh in and nothing before second, wear lighter clothes, lots of water loss, whether they had a poo etc.
It’s never a full stone of fat loss.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 03/07/2021 13:31

I lost 5 kilos (a stone is 6.35 kilos) in a week. But I had a really nasty gastro bug. It took a while to get over and I lost about a stone overall.

I can’t imagine having lost that much weight without being so unwell.

StarryNight468 · 03/07/2021 13:32

Even if you managed it it would go straight back on as it's not going to be a stone of fat.

ChimneyPot · 03/07/2021 13:32

When I tried very low carb I lost 7lbs in a week. I was only marginally overweight to begin with so may be if someone obese or morbidly obese did it they might lose a stone.
I am sure most of it was water but I did lose a stone in 3 weeks and have kept it off several years later.

Daisy03 · 03/07/2021 13:34

You could of you are extremely overweight, but it wouldn't be a stone of fat, it would be mainly water so would come back on quite easily.
To lose a stone in a week you'd have to deficit 7000 calories a day

Cazzovuoi · 03/07/2021 13:38

It’s entirely possible depending on your start weight. It will not be a stone of just fat though, it will also be fluid from inflammation.

I am carnivore and lost 11lbs my first week.

Flamingdingus · 03/07/2021 13:40

It seems to be doable. I'm on an Exante FB group where people sometimes report a first week loss of around a stone. It's generally people with a lot to lose. I've had around 5 stone to lose and have lost nearly 5 stone, or a bit less more than once. On a good time with SW or Exante, I lose around 6 - 8 lbs in the first week.

Freckers · 03/07/2021 13:47

I've lost 11lb in a week before but it's not genuine weight loss as such. Also any dramatic weight loss like that can't be maintained. As with PP, slow and steady is best.

DidSheGetOffThePlane · 03/07/2021 13:48

My friend lost 10lb on her first week at slimming world, so not far off a stone! She was around 15 stone to begin with.

Cherrysoup · 03/07/2021 13:58

I dropped 10lbs one week, but hadn’t been feeling brilliant.

Imapotato · 03/07/2021 14:00

Unless you’re seriously obese or seriously unwell then probably not.

Silvercatowner · 03/07/2021 14:11

One cannot lose a stone of fat in a week. If you do drop a stone the loss will include fluid and food in the digestive tract. That's not healthy.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 03/07/2021 14:22

I did,

I'd painted it and it looked like a cat (but much smaller) put it down somewhere in the garden and I'll be jiggered if I can find it now...

... and that was just four days ago. Sad

Scattyhattie · 03/07/2021 14:25

I've lost 9lb in a week on low carb but at least 3-4lb is the water loss so it's only ever really the first week you get a big loss. What also tends to happen on these diets is you can lose little to nothing in following week/s then the scales would start moving again but at a more steady rate. Its not always unhealthy methods, but only dodgy companies would advertise as 1stone in a week.

The bigger you are the easier it is to lose as carrying it all about burns off more calories so can get a bigger deficit & presumably more water too.
