Please could anyone recommend a non alcoholic dry white wine that doesn't taste like apple juice.

I really like Rawson's Retreat sparkling - once drank it without realizing it was non alcoholic

tallduckandhandsome · 01/07/2021 00:10

.

Eisberg Sauvignon Blanc, the big supermarkets have them. Tastes like a cheap white wine but no nasty aftertaste.

Dollywilde · 01/07/2021 06:59

Personally I never found a good one and resorted to alcohol free G&T and cider. But agree sparkling helps mask the cloying sweetness they put in as a substitute for the booze.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 01/07/2021 07:01

Following with interest. I bought one recently and it was quite good but forgot to take a pic of the label…☹️

NakedAttraction · 01/07/2021 07:05

No, sorry, they’re all awful. I did find sparkling tea an ok substitute for champagne though, but it’s horrifically expensive for a non-alcoholic drink.

Snowdrop30 · 01/07/2021 07:10

Never found a good one. Left Field Kombucha (Green Tea or Oolong) hits a similar 'spot' with me though - and is gorgeous.

MagpiePi · 01/07/2021 07:12

I'm looking for non-alcoholic wine too.

I've just received a mixed case of beers from The Dry Drinker, and the couple I've had so far are OK.

At least n/a wine is quite cheap so it's not too bad if you buy one that's terrible!

Sexnotgender · 01/07/2021 07:12

No, it’s all awful unfortunately.

mindutopia · 01/07/2021 07:24

The only thing I found that comes close is Juke’s. You’ll have to order it and it’s not cheap (though not as much as wine, I guess). It’s vinegar based, which sounds weird but that gives it a more fermented/kombucha like flavour which is more like a dry wine. Still doesn’t taste like wine but it’s also really clearly not fruit juice either.

Belle and co white and rose sparkling are lovely

OM82 · 01/07/2021 07:28

I recently tried the natureo rose and was really surprised how nice it is. They do a white as well which I bought yesterday but haven't tried yet. If you Google there is a review of alcohol free wines in the Independent which may give you a couple of options to try?

notanothertakeaway · 01/07/2021 07:28

I have tried several. It's rather personal taste. Most were too sweet, but I thought the best were (1) Noughty by Thomson and Scott, (2) Rose freixenet 0% and (3) can't quite recall the name, think it was LA kombucha

RampantIvy · 01/07/2021 07:29

No. I haven't tried any that tastes nice. However, non/very low alcohol beer and cider are very palatable.

Amdone123 · 01/07/2021 07:29

I've tried them all and they're all awful, but Rawsons Retreat is probably the best.
The great thing about af wine is you only ever want 2 glasses max.
Agree with pps, if you're a wine drinker, it's best to drink af other drinks, so gin n tonics or beers/ cider.
Af Kronenberg is great for me as I wouldn't drink 'normal' cider, so have nothing to measure it against.

andadietcoke · 01/07/2021 07:32

It's not all awful.

Noughty is the best, but expensive. Sainsbury's do a blanc de blanc sparkling and a generic sparkling that are about £2.75 and £3.50 and are quite dry. Tesco's £2.75 one is okay too. M&S Fizzero and Freixenet 0.0 both good.

In terms of non-sparkling, co-op do a Spanish white which is good, Eisberg SB, and Lindemanns SB but is quite sharp. Reds are more difficult but M&S's is okay and Sainsbury's do a £2.75 Tempranillo. Neither have that 'full' taste in your mouth though.

Blippibloppi · 01/07/2021 07:35

Fizz is better than wine imo. Freixenet was the best of the bunch in my extensive preggo testing last year.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 01/07/2021 07:37

It’s do annoying- when I first got a car and so couldn’t drink I used to take Aqua Libra with me to parties -tasted alcoholic but wasn’t, and, crucially, not sweet. Discontinued now and can’t find a non-sweet soft drink with that ‘kick’…

PurBal · 01/07/2021 07:48

I can help with larger, cider and ale. Also mulled wine. But non alcoholic wine is just bad. I tried every bottle I could find and would rather drink water.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 07:51

Freixenet 0% is quite nice if you don't think of it as having any relation to prosecco. I didn't enjoy Nosecco as much, but it was OK.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 07:52

(Nozeco is what I meant)

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/07/2021 07:54

For those looking for a non-sweet non-alcoholic drink, other than water, what about tomato juice with plenty of Lea & Perrin's, Tabasco, lemon or lime juice? Not sweet in the slightest. Virgin Mary I believe is the name for a vodka-less Bloody Mary.

I would just drink plain tonic water or lime and soda.

MsGuigan wines are the better ones I've tried.

Top tip on any AF products is to try and think of them as a product in its own right, rather then comparing it to what it's meant to be. I do this with meat free products too.
