To wonder where Matt Hancock is hiding?

Does anyone else find it odd that the press haven’t found him yet, given that they must be looking everywhere and most people would recognise him if they saw him now? Do you think someone is harbouring him somewhere? Why are they hounding his wife and not looking for him? I mean can’t hide forever can he, at some stage he’s got to come out of the woodwork and face the music instead of hiding like a coward.

I have no idea if this is true but on Radio 4 earlier this was being discussed on the media show and one top newspaper person strongly suggested that Mrs H has not been averse to being photographed this week.

I had been wondering why she was out and about so often with cameras on her doorstep so can believe that might be the case

Afraid I have no sympathy for the “poor sod”. Having spent the last year presiding over more than 100k deaths and untold damage on account of lockdowns in response to shit politically motivated policy decisions, to then find out that much of the time his head will have been consumed more by the lust of an affair than commitment to the country, is just unthinkable. I’ll leave the poor dad sod alone when he gets me back time with mum and dad again which we’ve now lost forever because whilst he was groping his mistress I’m the middle if they afternoon

Where is he? I’ve been wondering too. He didnt Half do a moonlight flit. Can’t be seeing his kids, if rumours are true that he woke one up to say bye, as he can’t really be seen by the press doing it. Heartless to do ‘the leave your wife & kids trick’ to live with the mistress. He is a working MP but can hardly show his face in his constituency. He’ll be planning his next move, he’s a politician, he’ll be back they all are. And apathetic voters have a short memory

@Ch3rish I heard that too. She sounded unsure whether to admit to it or not. But the other excuses she was giving sounded so weak, and she maybe knew that, so decided to say. She's the editor of the Standard (and SamCam's sister!).

More insult to injury than cheek.

I know a little bit about the inner workings of this story through my own job.

Martha Hancock has very clearly had some contact with friendly journalists through intermediaries since early on in this situation (how else would the press know how he broke the news to her and her kids?) and has, to an extent, managed her appearances outside of her home. She could have done a flit to a hotel but she decided to stay and tough it out and step outside her home looking absolutely incredible a few hours after it had been in the papers. It was obviously deliberate. And for that I think she’s bloody great and all power to her.

I think she should be left alone now, although maybe she doesn’t want to be? At no point has she vocalised that publicly, and she could do so if she wanted to. She’s got the sympathy of everyone in the country and may be smart enough to be thinking about the long term for herself and her kids. I don’t say this as a slight, I think she’s absolutely right to take tge cynical route in a situation like this.

The tabloids are throwing everything they have at finding Matt Hancock but he’s completely gone to ground. There’s a lot of money on the table for whoever gets the first pic of him and Martha in their ‘love nest’ < not envy

I'm damned if I'd be hiding in my house for days to avoid the media when I'd done nothing wrong. That simply living her own life is being interpreted as attention-seeking is pretty shitty. Why shouldn't she walk her dog and go shopping?
