To think that all televised sports could be improved if a couple of dogs were let loose

Football - doggo running around with the other players, checking they are okay after injuries, provide comfort to losing team, get excited at goals with the rest of the team although not 100% sure why… just happy the hoomans are happy

Tennis - quicker than ball boys/girls. Slight disadvantage that they may not want to return ball

In the case of football there's a good chance of the dog getting kicked in the head, or stood on. Also injuries to the players. Rabbits on the pitch would be more entertaining.

Balaur · 29/06/2021 18:46

Grin good idea although I suspect when pooch squats and does a massive shite in the goals it won't go down too well.

Theredjellybean · 29/06/2021 18:47

Golf cpuld definitely be improved,

PurpleWaterBlue · 29/06/2021 18:48

Not sure it would universally popular but what a joyous thing to imagine.

Would have to be an impartial dog though.

You can't risk them being trained to hump the goalies leg to put him off during a penalty shootout.

Training them to growl at the ref if he makes a bad decision might be good though.

LidoLady · 29/06/2021 18:48

I'd watch!

LakieLady · 29/06/2021 18:48

It's already been done in snooker. I saw a picture of it on the wall of a pub once.

SleepyMathematician · 29/06/2021 18:49

Rugby, just need a large male dog and every time the players get into a scrum it’ll start humping them.

wetotter · 29/06/2021 18:49

I'd worry about the safety of the dog!!

Especially if your preferred sport was F1 racing, BMX, most winter sports or anything equestrian

FlatStanleyCommon · 29/06/2021 18:50

Definitely at the tennis. Was thinking just the same last week at sports day during 'throw the tennis ball like a shot put event.' The whole thing would have flown by with a dog to collect the ball between each throw.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 29/06/2021 18:50

I think I've seen this picture too!!! And cards (not a ball game though)

Maybe release the dogs when I goal or injury happens? That way pups are safer from risk of injury

Grin Interesting idea - start with the Tour de France!
DeathByWalkies · 29/06/2021 18:51

YANBU, most things in life can be improved with a dog running around Grin

Hoppinggreen · 29/06/2021 18:51

That’s probably the one thing that would persuade me to watch.

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 29/06/2021 18:51

Genius Grin

KupoNutCoffee · 29/06/2021 18:52

I mean...its not going to make it any worse to watch?

Athletics, nothing like a dog to chase you along.
Cycling, certainly motivating to pedal away from a dog wanting to take you out.
Swimming, now with added splash zone seating for the wet dog shakes.
Throwing games, well someone needs to retrieve the shotput, discus and javelin...

I'm not sure it would end well in the motor sports however...

romdowa · 29/06/2021 18:52

I miss read the headline as drugs on the pitch 🤣🤣🤣 which I think would definitely liven up proceedings 🙈🙈

Tlollj · 29/06/2021 18:53

What about darts though. Bit dangerous. Water polo they’d have to be good swimmers.
Would the dogs be wearing little kits with their names on the back.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/06/2021 18:55

YANBU. I would watch 100% more sport if your plan could be implemented.

thecatsthecats · 29/06/2021 18:56

I showed my husband this thread because I've been saying this for YEARS.

AfternoonToffee · 29/06/2021 18:57

DH misses the days of dogs invading the football pitch.

I think streakers need to make a comeback too.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 29/06/2021 18:59

@Tlollj absolutely doggy kits would be necessary

Also anyone who injures the dogs gets sent off IMMEDIATELY

Leaninghouse · 29/06/2021 18:59

I watch dressage and mma I'm not sure either would work with dogs

AfternoonToffee · 29/06/2021 19:00

Could we have cats for dressage?

Armadollo · 29/06/2021 19:00

Formula 1 👌

YouthfulIndiscretion · 29/06/2021 19:02

The ribbon event in Rhythmic gymnastics would be noticeably improved with a couple of kittens on the mat.
