To think that all televised sports could be improved if a couple of dogs were let loose

Football - doggo running around with the other players, checking they are okay after injuries, provide comfort to losing team, get excited at goals with the rest of the team although not 100% sure why… just happy the hoomans are happy

Tennis - quicker than ball boys/girls. Slight disadvantage that they may not want to return ball

Interesting idea - start with the Tour de France!

Been done :). Didn’t work that well :(

The ribbon event in Rhythmic gymnastics would be noticeably improved with a couple of kittens on the mat

Definitely!

Definitely Grin

And they could bean interesting addition to snooker -- sort of extra mobile hazard?

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 29/06/2021 19:11

My husband and I have just been discussing this- how brilliant would dog football be; not least for the commentary and post-match interviews with the dogs Grin

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 29/06/2021 19:12

I think a pair of kittens would be good on a snooker table.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 29/06/2021 19:13

Oh, cross post!

Riapia · 29/06/2021 19:18

Release 50 dogs on the first bend of formula 1 the carnage would be amazing.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 29/06/2021 19:57

I volunteer mine for the wrestling.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 29/06/2021 19:59

Fabulous idea OP, inspired - possibly the only that that would entice me to watch sport Grin

KarlMaldensNose · 29/06/2021 20:01

@Balaur

Grin good idea although I suspect when pooch squats and does a massive shite in the goals it won't go down too well.
Gary Linneker style 😂
CoffeeBeansGalore · 29/06/2021 20:04

I'd watch sport if they removed the human players entirely & just had happy dogs playing around 🐶😁

DariaANDJane · 29/06/2021 20:56

Yes! Dogs improve everything!

Bit off topic, but a few years ago we visited a garden centre/cafe in a village near Melton Mowbray where a dog came to greet us in the car park wearing a tabard that said "follow me for tea". We followed said dog and it took us to the cafe hut. It's one of the best things that has ever happened to us Grin

Katiejanej · 29/06/2021 21:07

Yes!!!! I’ve always wanted dogs - ideally Golden Retrievers - to be the ball boys at Wimbledon.

MissDollyMix · 29/06/2021 21:10

I would love this! What an amazing suggestion Grin

TheLeadbetterLife · 29/06/2021 21:13

Pitch invasions by dogs are an old tradition in football. I’d be all for bringing it back.

MozzarellaMonster · 29/06/2021 21:13

Just came to say this is an incredible idea!

Undertheoldlindentree · 29/06/2021 21:13

Nipping any exposed parts in the rugby scrum? Smile

superduster · 29/06/2021 21:15

I just watched a clip of a cricket match where a seagull wanted to play! Ponies and cowes are regular cricketers around here too.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 29/06/2021 21:20

They did try with the Tour de France a couple of years back as reallyreallybored posted. Didn't cause quite as much chaos as the spectator with her sign the other day who took out most of the peloton.

motogogo · 29/06/2021 21:31

When he was younger my dog would have been an amazing ball dog, he dropped balls at our feet. Only issue is the soggy ball!

Kanaloa · 29/06/2021 21:33

Might be a bit of an issue in swimming/diving.

Could work in other television too though - I would consider actually watching Love Island if there were a few large dogs chasing them round every time they started talking.

motogogo · 29/06/2021 21:34

He retrieves cricket balls at nets, he beats human fielders. Now swimming would be even better
