Hi all,

I’ve got to come up with a fact to round off a work meeting I’m presenting tomorrow. Have no idea what to go for - so AIBU to ask if you can give me any fact inspiration?!

The fact can be on anything at all. Please hit me with your fave facts (and if you can come up with a ‘story’-type fact, that would be amazing!)

Thanks!!

Have a listen to the No Such Thing as a Fish podcast. It’s the folks who set the questions on QI, and they each bring their favourite fact of the week to the podcast. Dip into any one of the hundreds they’ve done and you’ll get a gem.

Although most seem to involve penises one way or another.

Here's my pet fact;

A bumblebee buzz pollinates by vibrating her wings at approximately 420-435Hz. Middle A, the note by which the entire orchestra tunes, is currently set at 440Hz, but at the time the modern orchestra was becoming a thing, was pitched slightly lower. Usually between 430 and 435Hz.

This means that the one note, the fundamental by which all Western music was aligned, was based upon the sound of a Bumblebee in summer.

Also, there was a battle during which a tribe of horse archers was whipping the shit out a non-horse archer army, so the other guys dressed their camels up as monstrous camelephants to scare the horse archers' horses and win the battle. I now can't see a camel without mentally adding a prosthetic trunk and ears...
