What a coup for Cornwall to get the G7

If Cornwall make a success of this then surely they should relocate the foreign office there full time. If the government are serious about leveling up anyway.

Tremendous fillip.

They'll only moan about outsiders

They must be delighted with this. The focus of the world is on Cornwall. What an opportunity.

Are you joking? Nowhere deserves the potential protests and travel chaos that the G7 brings.

Macncheeseballs · 09/06/2021 22:05

Yeah but they are not known for celebrating anything involving emmits or incomers

Shitfuckcommaetc · 09/06/2021 22:05

You obviously don't have to drive to work through the chaos that is the diversions!

Macncheeseballs · 09/06/2021 22:06

Point made

Macncheeseballs · 09/06/2021 22:08

It doesn't last long, I'm sure you'll survive

Londoners coped through the Olympics. It's a net benefit.

Hasn't Cornwall started complaining about the 'levelling up'? I've seen several recent articles bemoaning that the social cleansing, that's been happening in London for the last 30 years, is now happening in Cornwall too.

Franklin12 · 09/06/2021 22:10

They are miserable down there. Always moaning and the rip off prices have put me right off. I have relatives down there and it’s definitely up itself but I guess other parts of the country are too.

They don’t like outsiders....

Macncheeseballs · 09/06/2021 22:13

If the cornish had their way, they'd blow up the tamar bridge

They've done very well with Covid though. Kept rates very low nearly throughout.

More incomers!

olidora63 · 09/06/2021 22:16

The Carbis Bay Htel was where we had all our summer holidays when I was a child...has really brought back happy memories seeing it on TV tonight.

Macncheeseballs · 09/06/2021 22:16

That's cos they put the fear of God into anyone coming in

They might just have a chance with levelling up on that front.
Boris will be tremendously pleased. Lockdown #401 here we come!

For what exactly?

inappropriateraspberry · 09/06/2021 22:26

Yeah, it's great having it here just as tourist season starts! They've been closing roads etc in St. Ives, fishermen can't go out and bring in their nets, taken over facilities that are essential for the infrastructure of a county that is desperate for tourists, not politicians and press.

Flog a few pasties and scones.
jasjas1973 · 09/06/2021 22:35

We aren't hosting the G7, the govt is, no one down here has had a say in anything at all.

Lot of problems down here, not least housing and social care, Cornwall is surprisingly compact because a 3rd of it is moorland.

G7 wont address any of our problems & the money BJ has promised is old money and is a fraction of the EU money now lost.

Blessex · 09/06/2021 22:38

It’s all to promote local mining
