Chased by a tractor

Today I took my kids out for a walk. We went to a local park that is massive but deserted during the day. A tractor with a lawn cutter on the back was mowing the main field so we stuck to the playground. The tractor came right up to the playground and made my kids scream it was so close. I took them to adjacent fields to get away. The tractor followed. We were walking around the edge of a football pitch and the tractor kept coming straight for us to the point that I had to push the pram behind a tree. He was not mowing in straight lines and wherever we went on the footpath he came straight at us. I left the path and went to an adjoining basketball court and he came straight at us there even though the football pitch wasn’t fully mowed. It was such an odd and frightening experience. No matter where I walked he aimed at us. Eventually I parked my kids behind a tree and started filming him. At that point he stopped.
Aibu to report this to the council? Even typing it makes me sound paranoid but it was terrifying.

Post the video so we can decide.

lotstolose1 · 09/06/2021 01:29

That's fucked up. Definitely report that. Sounds like a guy who's getting a thrill from scaring kids Confused

rose69 · 09/06/2021 01:32

Report to th e council.

PaleGreenAndBrightOrange · 09/06/2021 01:34

Or the police?!

Tavannach · 09/06/2021 01:37

You weren't chased by a tractor. You were terrorised by a man using a tractor to intimidate and frighten you while you were in charge of young children. That must have been very scary for them as well as for you. Personally I'd report it to 101 as well as reporting to the council. Imagine if a teenage girl was walking alone.

GiveIrelandBackToTheIrish · 09/06/2021 01:39

Wtf

User52739 · 09/06/2021 01:44

Definitely report - sounds like some absolute psycho getting a kick from scaring women and children. Hope you’re all ok now Flowers

Ostara212 · 09/06/2021 01:52

Report to police
Do you know who owns the field? Report to them too.

EKGEMS · 09/06/2021 02:05

I would've called the damn police right then and there

Susannahmoody · 09/06/2021 02:08

Sounds terrible

HaveringWavering · 09/06/2021 02:48

Why did your kids scream at it to begin with? Kids usually like tractors. This is crazy.

Taikoo · 09/06/2021 02:58

You should complain to the police and to the council, if it is council property.

musthavebeenlove · 09/06/2021 03:00

Wow this sounds scary and so absurd that I actually believe this happened. God knows there are some absolute psychopaths out there that get a sick little kick out of trying to intimidate those smaller and weaker then themselves (animals, children, women..).
If you give them access to some toy that is already intimidating on its own if used improperly (tractor in this case) then these kind of things can happen.

I’m really sorry OP that this happened.
I would absolutely report this to the local police if I were you. If you feel comfortable with it, posting your story on social media might help too as I doubt this is the first time he has done this (sadly very likely it won’t also be the last time if nobody stops him) and others might come forward which can help the police to take action against this person.

I hope you’re ok now. Are you ? Flowers

Maray1967 · 09/06/2021 06:54

Yes, sadly this sounds like some vile man who thought it was hilarious to do this. Once he knew he was being filmed he stopped. If I’ve understood this correctly you were in the park? In that case the council should be informed, but putting this on social media might also work. Someone will probably know who he is - possibly his wife or parents.

BackBeatTheWordisOnTheStreet · 09/06/2021 07:48

It does sound very very odd. That said are you sure he realised you were scared? Most kids love tractors so could he have just been trying to show the kids the tractor? (It's hard to imagine, without being there).

LateAtTate · 09/06/2021 08:09

Did you get the number plate in your video?
Report report report!
Sick

ComDummings · 09/06/2021 08:13

Report that to the police and the council. They use the big tractors in the park I have to walk through most days and they scare the shit out of me when they’re there.

BarbarianMum · 09/06/2021 08:25

I clicked on this expecting a joke thread, that sounds terrifying! Shock Absolutely report the intimidating arsehole.

Charmtaste · 09/06/2021 08:26

@Ostara212 the fields are owned by the council. They are playing fields next to the playground.

@BackBeatTheWordisOnTheStreet my kids were delighted at first but then got very frightened when the tractor came too close the first time. My toddler was obviously scared and crying.

There's always one. rolls eyes
Charmtaste · 09/06/2021 08:59

@musthavebeenlove I am fine now but a bit wary of going to the park without another adult with me. Such a strange and unnerving experience.

@Charmtaste

Sounds so weird and upsetting. If he knew you were getting away and scared and came dangerously close to you I'd be very very worried about what he'd do next. Definitely report.
