Chased by a tractor

Today I took my kids out for a walk. We went to a local park that is massive but deserted during the day. A tractor with a lawn cutter on the back was mowing the main field so we stuck to the playground. The tractor came right up to the playground and made my kids scream it was so close. I took them to adjacent fields to get away. The tractor followed. We were walking around the edge of a football pitch and the tractor kept coming straight for us to the point that I had to push the pram behind a tree. He was not mowing in straight lines and wherever we went on the footpath he came straight at us. I left the path and went to an adjoining basketball court and he came straight at us there even though the football pitch wasn’t fully mowed. It was such an odd and frightening experience. No matter where I walked he aimed at us. Eventually I parked my kids behind a tree and started filming him. At that point he stopped.
Aibu to report this to the council? Even typing it makes me sound paranoid but it was terrifying.

I have reported it to the police. I will not be posting the footage on here. Thanks for the push to report. Sometimes things are so bizarre it is hard to get your head round them.

Glad you reported it. What a dick!

BlowDryRat · 11/06/2021 10:40

Well done for reporting this terrifying man.

I’m surprised 15% of people have voted YABU. Hopefully, as a PP said, it was just because you hadn’t yet reported and not because they don’t believe you.

A tiny minority of men do get a kick out of intimidating women. It’s happened to me when out walking my dog in the forest. The same man kept appearing motionless and staring straight at me at each intersection of path, then (presumably) running ahead on the parallel track to be ready at the next one. In the end anger won over fear and I just turned down the (very overgrown) connecting track and walked straight towards him. He gave up and wandered off before I reached him. I googled afterwards and apparently, along with walking too close to lone women out at night, this is something a small subset of men enjoy doing ConfusedAngry

Well done OP!

@Charmtaste do you know if the police have spoken to the driver? Did they ask for the footage?
I hope it doesn’t put you off walking that way again & enjoying the area with your children Flowers
