To think eat raw rashers of bacon is disgusting?

As in opening up a packet of smoked bacon rashers that you’ve just picked up from the supermarket, the type you’d put in your fry up, and just eat straight out of the packet? I wash shocked but they told me it’s totally normal and lots of people do it??

@BelleBlueBell

What's with all the delicate flowers this evening? It's not to everyone's taste and probably not advisable but it's not really worthy of disgusting, shocking, revolting and attacks of the vapours is it?

Have you lost all sense of perspective Grin

Delicate flowers? It is fairly disgusting/shocking/revolting TBF.

Are you just about to tuck into your raw bacon dinner? Grin

enjoyingscience · 07/06/2021 19:22

Nasty.

And yes to tapeworm. Maybe it’s a new fangled parasite diet, where you aid your weightloss with pork based worms?

MrsOrMiss · 07/06/2021 19:23

I eat raw bacon, its lovely.
Good bacon is the best, soft meat and creamy fat.
Never had worms - tape or otherwise.

Cryalot2 · 07/06/2021 19:25

Normal?? Anything but it.
Even you were starving you wouldn't do it. Anyone who does this deserves a dose of the squits .

NumberTheory · 07/06/2021 19:25

Pork in the UK has been free of worms since the ‘70s. So it may be a lot safer nowadays.

But I couldn’t do it!

NiceGerbil · 07/06/2021 19:25

What about the rind?!

Are you talking seriously smoked bacon? Heavily cured?

Raw pork is just a no no like chicken. I'm pretty cavalier with food and being fine but raw bacon??!!

Sparklingbrook · 07/06/2021 19:26

'Creamy fat' Bleurgh, that's meant to be the crispy bit.

Picklypickles · 07/06/2021 19:32

An ex of mine ate raw bacon along with other delights such as frozen chicken burgers microwaved for a couple of minutes and eaten in a gross sandwich with bug chunks of cheese, worcestershire sauce, ketchup and crisps, usually whilst his mother flapped about screeching that he was going to give himself bowel cancer, she continued to keep buying him these things though! I sometimes wonder if he's poisoned himself yet!

8monthsinandcranky · 07/06/2021 19:32

My dad used to do this. He thought it was normal.

My mum, my sibling and me all thought he was mental

Have you seen a picture of roundworm and tapeworm? It's revolting.
Oblomov21 · 07/06/2021 19:33

I feel ill.

chesirecat99 · 07/06/2021 19:38

@HeyGirlHeyBoy

Envy gross but I did see a child eat raw sausages out of her lunchbox one day.
Maybe they had been boiled? I know someone who boils sausages and they look raw and grim Envy

I've been served frozen lardons as a snack in a Russian bar. It was surprisingly delicious.

I'm not sure I would fancy eating supermarket bacon out of a packet though, in the same way that I wouldn't make sushi from supermarket salmon or steak tartare from supermarket minced beef. It probably isn't fresh enough.

duffmcstockings · 07/06/2021 19:38

Raw bacon is a bit gross, but my mum used to crave raw mince when she was pregnant.

Sparklingbrook · 07/06/2021 19:39

A quick Google around this subject and it's a firm no, you should not do that.

NiceGerbil · 07/06/2021 19:39

Boiled would be fine. Raw pork is just a no.

BlueDucky · 07/06/2021 19:41

Raw mince is just as bad?!
Bluntness100 · 07/06/2021 19:44

You can’t eat it. It’s got to be cooked. Honestly the thought turns my stomach.

PenOrPencil · 07/06/2021 19:44

It is definitely nothing like Parma ham! Google “trichinella” Envy

VanillaSpiceCandle · 07/06/2021 19:46

Omg I actually feel queasy just thinking about it. What kind of monster is eating rashers of raw bacon and just why?

However my dad tells me a cured but raw pork is a delicacy in Hungary. He roughly translated it to fat pork. It’s a no from me. Bleugh.

And to the person who admits doing it. Who introduced you to this? Or, one day, did you just think I’ll try a raw bit?!

Bluntness100 · 07/06/2021 19:46

I've been served frozen lardons as a snack in a Russian bar.

That’s a common snack in Russia/Ukraine, and it’s cured. It’s not raw. Bacon on the other hand is not fully cured.

Nancylovesthecock · 07/06/2021 19:48

@hibbledibble

Yanbu. That's revolting. But then so is bacon in any form, as well as terribly unhealthy, and bad for the environment.
ODFOD 😘

That is an American website. American meat is barely safe even when it is cooked.

UK and EU pork is different.

denverRegina · 07/06/2021 19:50

Scruffy bastards. American, UK or otherwise, ew

PixieDust28 · 07/06/2021 19:54

Oh don't be a boar.

😏.

NumberTheory · 07/06/2021 19:58

Raw mince is just as bad?!

So just as bad as that classic French dish Steak Tartare which is served in great restaurants around the world?
