Woke up early this morning and the dawn chorus is fabulous. I am semi rural....only problem is I can't get bk to sleep but i'm ok with that.

YANBU it really is life affirming and a great start to the day. Have a good one!

Words · 07/06/2021 05:17

I'm with you OP!

At this time of year I leave the blinds up and the windows open so I wake to the sound. And if it's really warm and sunny, I go for a walk in the woods to hear it properly.

It's beautiful.

FiveGs · 07/06/2021 05:22

My dawn chorus involves my two cats working as a team as one jumps up on the bedroom door handle and the other uses his not inconsiderable heft, to get it open before wandering in and yowling that they're hungry. Every day.

Yours sounds more graceful OP Grin

I absolutely love it Smile

MariposaLilly · 07/06/2021 05:40

Nothing beats a dawn chorus in the British Isles. Here at dawn our birds give it all they got, but they it doesn't sound nearly as good.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 07/06/2021 05:42

I am sat in my (lean too, sun room, not a proper conservatory) back outdoorsy type room with the door open watching the glow from the sun light up the trees and listening to the birds. Semi rural also, so peaceful! Cup of tea in hand, waiting for the youngest to wake so I can start meds and breakfast. Its a lovely moment ❤

AppleKatie · 07/06/2021 05:48

It is particularly loud this morning. Woke me up 10 mins before my alarm and I thought I’d overslept!

Beautiful though I agree.

Bluebells1 · 07/06/2021 05:56

It was lovely, except for one bird who was so out of tune! Grin

Inthesameboatatmo · 07/06/2021 05:59

I love it , I have so many birds where I am in the south east at the moment in my garden.
Its sounds as if I am in snow white or something

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/06/2021 06:00

It's glorious.

There was a lovely BBC programme on TV recently, dawn chorus from a few different locations

It's one thing I've enjoyed about not sleeping during the last month of pregnancy. Normally I would never wake up early enough to hear it but its been wonderful to listen to.

Sometimesonly · 07/06/2021 06:08

I love it too. I sleep with the window open so it wakes me up early but it's a great way to wake up. I'm in a city but it's still glorious.

Thedogscollar · 07/06/2021 06:10

Love it too. Still at it here.

purplesequins · 07/06/2021 06:17

not if it's seagulls...
noisy things.

Ifailed · 07/06/2021 06:39

Not if it's a group of sparrows with their incessant cheeping.

HeronLanyon · 07/06/2021 06:49

I am a real bird lover and daily think it a privilege that we live amongst them.
Last year the dawn chorus and all bird activity of all types (particularly nest building etc) was really important for my mental health as we stumbled around in shock at first lockdown and what was happening. Absolutely life affirming. (Although had a pigeon who was thinking quite intently about coming into an open window earlier this morning. Managed to head off that potential nightmare!). Grin

L0V315 · 07/06/2021 07:00

I love to hear the dawn chorus and the dusk chorus too, particularly if I am outside and solar gazing for the last hour of sunshine. So beautiful.

HeronLanyon · 07/06/2021 07:04

Yes to dusk activity. Absolutely adore a late blackbird scurrying home in the darkling with maybe just a short sound (possibly an apology for being late home). Perfect. Often a sign to go in and put the fire on or similar.

😂😂 I also have a two cat tag team. They also like to include the 'bum in the face' manoeuvre as part of their wake up system.
Winwins · 07/06/2021 07:22

My 18month old is not a great sleeper. I am exhausted. But that sound as I sit up in the morning makes ithe realisation that I won’t be going back to bed so much easier. It’s just beautiful.

KingdomScrolls · 07/06/2021 07:24

Ours involves a crow and a number of seagulls. It's not pretty

FedNlanders · 07/06/2021 07:27

Its beautiful, its such a simple and beautiful pleasure. Beautiful British birdsong.

Traceface28 · 07/06/2021 07:28

The Dawn chorus was beautiful again here this morning, been listening to it and enjoying the sunshine flooding through the window. Makes my heart sing, always a good way to start the day 🎶🎶

eurochick · 07/06/2021 07:43

There is a great cartoon of two people dreamily listening to the dawn chorus and saying how beautiful it is and outside the window the birds are tweeting "fuck off, this is my tree", "no you fuck off", etc😄

LadyCatStark · 07/06/2021 07:50

Not if you live next to hundreds of crows! Oh and the village has at least 2 cockerels who live at opposite ends of the village and have a sing off every morning!
