I recently attended an outdoor wedding with around 40 guests (it was allowed,everything was in order!).Everyone brought food which made a fantastic buffet.Everyone except a family of two adults and three teenage children.When the last person in line for food sat down,there was still loads left-people had brought four or five items each and everyone had just taken a small portion to start with.intending to go back for more.The desserts hadn't even been touched.As one,this family,whose plates were already overflowing,advanced on the buffet with three or four empty Tupperware containers each and just about cleared it.They just hoovered everything up in a couple of minutes.even taking some of the bowls and plates people had brought their contributions in.They took the three full bottles of wine from their table and grabbed a couple of prosecco bottles from the buffet too.Carrying their own huge plates,they then left!People were dumbfounded and the poor bride was in tears.The family were the groom's uncle-when approached the next day,uncle said he thought they were leftovers which he didn't want to go to waste.He was furloughed and short of cash so that would feed the family for a few days.That was also the reason why he hadn't brought a present.People had bent over backwards to hep them.Someone (who didn't even know them) had driven 200 miles to collect them, from their home,put them up overnight then driven them to the venue.The three women in the family had borrowed clothes and makeup from the host family (which still haven't been returned),had moaned about the quality of the mattress in the adult's bed and lack of cooked breakfast then tried to persuade the hairdresser booked by the host family to do their hair as well for free (fortunately that didn't work.)All in all they were a nightmare.Now there's another outdoor wedding coming up and they haven't been invited,despite it being the niece of the uncle from Hell.He's creating trouble already,firing off emails to the bride every day about how badly he's been treated,how he only took a few scraps which would have been thrown out in order to feed his starving family (none of them looked as if they were starving!).He's blackmailing the poor girl emotionally,saying she's responsible for dividing the family if they don't invite his tribe when non family guests will be attending..Yes,he's family but surely the poor girl has the right to choose her guests,especially when numbers are so limited?

@Sweetpea1532 ,
come and join the fun .

I think @barnbougle is planning to do all of this at the next party / wedding they go to and want to see what peopls reactions were to see if it is ok to to do all of this

midsomermurderess · 06/06/2021 17:16

How many arms did each of them have, to manage plates full of food, bottles of wine, Tupperware boxes? asking for a friend, she might want to try this at the next 'wedding' she goes to.

Sweetpea1532 · 06/06/2021 19:13

Oh @AlCalavicci..thanks ever so much for the invitation...this is the kind of thread I live for...it brings out all the clever and hilarious responses from MNs best ..which of course, includes you!!!Wink
Who are the 13% who think this could ever be anything other than the Uncle being unprecedentedly bagsy ShockHmmConfused😂

Sweetpea1532 · 06/06/2021 19:15

@MrsMackesy
@iklboo
You are both needed over here...right up your alley...bring it on!

iklboo · 06/06/2021 19:27

While BIL2 is known to trample grannies & small children to decimate choose some buffet NOBODY is surely this blatant?

They had a complete stranger drive 200 miles to collect them
Had no clothes or make up with them
Didn't bring a present
All had their hair done for free by the bridal hairdresser on the day of the wedding
Magicked up 15-20 Tupperware boxes out of nowhere
Carried 5-6 bottles of wine & Prosecco, 15-20 full Tupperware boxes AND their own plates piled high with food
Left without transport home

So...greedy, tight, naked octopuses at a wedding. Sequel to Snakes On A Plane?

Maybe the had a bag a la Mary Poppins to carry it all?? Grin

Goodness, I bet the bride and groom are wishing they didn't have such a kind friend who didn't mind driving 200 miles in their enormous car that would happily seat six adults and all their Tupperware (but no luggage, obvs) to collect and house and clothe this uncle and his family and who, in a fantastic stroke of luck, wore the exact same size clothes as the three women in the family and had three spare wedding outfits to loan, suiting cross-generation ladies beautifully, despite covid guidelines.

@burritofan

Here for the drip feed
Hilarious!
AnneKipanki · 06/06/2021 20:15

Do you remember Uncle Finn,
You know, from the wedding
He cleared the table
Of all he was able
And then filled up his empty tin

BillyIsMyBunny · 06/06/2021 20:16

Well why didn’t anybody stop them??

iklboo · 06/06/2021 20:29

@AnneKipanki

Do you remember old Aunty Pat
Your niece loaned her a wedding hat
She couldn't afford to do her hair
But remembered all her Tupperware
Which she filled up with the buffet & that

AnneKipanki · 06/06/2021 20:30

😂 @iklboo

AnneKipanki · 06/06/2021 20:33

Wasn’t that buffet fantastic
I’m glad my trews are elastic
I loved all the food stuffed myself good
Then put leftovers in my plastic

iklboo · 06/06/2021 20:40

And what about that cousin Mabel
Who emptied everything from the table
She nicked the food, Prosecco & wine
And thought that that was totally fine
Unless this tale is a fable

AlwaysLatte · 06/06/2021 20:41

Well done to everyone who read through that lot. Sorry, I'm a lightweight!

Pebbledashery · 06/06/2021 20:42

I'm hoping your uncle and his family are eating well this week :)

ProudPolyGradSingleMum · 06/06/2021 20:42

But I would walk a hundred miles
And I would walk a hundred more
Just to be the man who walked two hundred miles
To nick all your food

ThinWomansBrain · 06/06/2021 20:42

OP's not been back then? Grin

tillytoodles1 · 06/06/2021 20:45

They needed all that food to keep them going on the 200 mile walk home.

ProudPolyGradSingleMum · 06/06/2021 20:47

They brought the Tupperware
Silenced everyone with a glare
How did they fare

Op doesn’t care
She’s hoping they’ll share

AnneKipanki · 06/06/2021 21:15

😂 @ProudPolyGradSingleMum

😂 @iklboo

iklboo · 06/06/2021 21:50

There once was an uncle called Bud
Who got everything free if he could
He nicked all the food
And the wine, which was rude
I swear that he's up to no good

Dizzy1234 · 06/06/2021 21:55

Cool story bro 🙄

BreedingOinkers · 06/06/2021 22:01

ffs you could have made it a LITTLE believable 🙄

StoneofDestiny · 06/06/2021 22:04
