Going to a baby shower and need inspiration for a gift.

I am so indecisive at the moment!

Baby bath support is a great idea. Wet babies are slippery! I also got a floating bath thermometer which also did the ambient temp when not in the bath.

giftswap2020 · 25/05/2021 18:59

A water bottle for Mum with a straw in for night feeds. Straw so she can drink when lying down.

Also a baby nail file machine, on Amazon, I think, as I was terrified of cutting babies nails! Filing was so much easier. I have attached a picture.

Sock-ons, to keep babies socks on, and I also used them to keep babies feet in baby grows

Night light and maybe a clock that projects time onto the roof, very useful.

A teething necklace baby can play with whilst being fed! Save the poor mummys hair being pulled and gives baby something to focus on. There are some really nice stylish ones or plain ones that will go with anything.

A morckk blanket. It's a blanket with harness holes for the pram or car seat, it was ingenious when they were tiny.

Hallyup6 · 25/05/2021 19:12

So many people suggesting muslins but I've never understood why! I've had five children and have never used a muslin, I found them completely impractical.
I'd say knitted cardigans for older than newborn babies or blankets that can be used in the pushchair.

Food! Snacks and meal vouchers. That’s all I get new parents now.

Dee1975 · 25/05/2021 19:17

‘Sock-ons’. These genius little things you put over baby socks to keep them on. Bloody brilliant!

WarriorN · 25/05/2021 19:17

A bodum mug.

Brilliant for night time cuppas and being chained to the sofa.

footballmom · 25/05/2021 19:18

I don't do baby showers but the best presents I got after my baby was born were homemade lentil soup, a chicken curry and a pasta salad. So thoughtful.
Also a care package before I went in hospital containing sudocrem, witch hazel for rounds, lansinoh cream and breast pads, a water cooling spray, and a dummy

MoiraNotRuby · 25/05/2021 19:18

Blanket, always a blanket. Doesn't need to be a certain size, doesn't matter if you have more than one, soft, cosy, warm, huggy.

WarriorN · 25/05/2021 19:18

We were passed on an angel care Bath support which was great. Only used for a little while though obviously.

Minionbums · 25/05/2021 19:19

I second the Morrck blanket. Best thing we had. Fighting a coat into a baby is horrendous!

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 25/05/2021 19:20

A Snugglebundl. Absolute Godsend for me lifting DS in and out of his crib post-section and it worked like magic to swing him go sleep. It’s my go to baby gift now!

HungryHippo20 · 25/05/2021 19:21

The egg thermometer that changes colour when too hot/cold was my favourite and most useful gift!!

21Flora · 25/05/2021 19:23

Bonds sleepsuits (don’t buy them from John Lewis as they are double the price of independent retailers!) They are wonderful. They come up quite big however.

RoseHarper · 25/05/2021 19:26

Best present was a little hamper of essentials, calpol, thermometer, baby nail clippers, lansinoh, nappy cream, teething ring, weaning cup/spoon, that type of thing. All used. Would also second a meal delivery voucher/food voucher, we didnt have this but would have loved it!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 25/05/2021 19:27

A baby reclining chair you put in the bath so you could wash your baby hands free! Brilliant- especially as I had a c-section and couldn't hold the baby at the best of times never mind hovering in a bending position over a bath tub!

rubberplants · 25/05/2021 19:30

This is the most helpful thing I ever purchased. Ever.

VAVA Night Lights for Kids with Stable Charging Pad, Rechargeable Bedside Table Lamp for Breastfeeding, Touch Control & Timer Setting, 200hrs Run Time ABS+PC White https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JNHJFVP/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabcQ98K8RK868SN6Z9H0SYH??encoding=UTF8&psc=1

SockOns (keeps socks on feet)
CuddleDry towel

WhySoSensitive · 25/05/2021 19:39

Tuppence and crumble star blanket - he was an autumn baby and it was perfect.

Vouchers for food and once baby arrived some ready meals!

StevieNix · 25/05/2021 19:46

The extra large (swaddle) aiden and anais muslin blankets.
Or I second a previous posters suggestion of a nappy caddy- filled with things for baby like nappy cream etc and a just eat gift card!

Checkingout811 · 25/05/2021 19:49

@Hallyup6 I used them while breastfeeding and to swaddle baby.
DS2 was born in august so was perfect for covering him in the pram

espressoontap · 25/05/2021 19:50

Cake and nice coffee.

Dustyhedge · 25/05/2021 19:52

Loved getting one of these towels as a gift.
