Going to a baby shower and need inspiration for a gift.

I am so indecisive at the moment!

Also, maybe look at a good vegan cake if they BF. Cows milk protein allergy is quite common now, sadly. I'm feeding no2 who has CMPA, just like her brother, and a good, decent vegan cake is hard to come by.

A reusable coffee mug and a holder for it that clips onto the pram. Genius invention and a lifesaver after a hard night with baby when we had to be out and about the next day :)

Truenorthmum · 25/05/2021 19:54

Black & white sensory muslins from Etta Loves and a stand up black and white picture board from Sue & Samuel (I think!)

Many a hot cup of tea was had thanks to those!

Oh and a Sophie giraffe as others have mentioned, she is a firm favourite 8 months on and a god send for teething.

We got way too many clothes and had a big baby so they either didn't fit or were out of season by the time they did fit sadly.

Dustyhedge · 25/05/2021 19:56

Hallyup6 Maybe it depends on how vommy/ tidy a feeder your babies are? First child I used a ton of muslins at all times. Then brought loads more for my second thinking I’d use them again. They were barely touched tbh. No idea why they seemed essential for one baby and not the other.

glasshalfsomething · 25/05/2021 20:04

A star wrap blanket.

sallysparrow157 · 25/05/2021 20:10

I came on to say the Morrck blanket too, by far my most used baby present - we used it in the pram as well as the car seat as my babies were little monkeys who kicked off every blanket you tried to put over them - could bundle them up in the Morrck and they couldn’t kick their way out as quickly!

Whitewolf2 · 25/05/2021 20:38

Lamaze toys are fun and safe for small ones, we got a dragon that flapped it’s wings and a unicorn with cloppy hooves as presents and both were well loved.

TheLette · 25/05/2021 20:50

I tend to give baby books as it's nice for new parents to have something to read their babies when it's time to start a bedtime routine. I pick books that my daughter loved as a baby so there is a nice personal touch. I remember we didn't have many books to start off with. I know you can get books in the library but its nice to have a small collection of your own too.

LilacSloth · 25/05/2021 20:57

We were given a mobile:

It was so useful - could attach it to pram, travel cot and take it anywhere. Hours of entertainment and it never would have occurred to me to buy something like this myself.

ouchmyfeet · 25/05/2021 21:05

Some beautifully soft reusable merino wool breast pads. Didn't end up managing to breastfeed for long but they were so lovely and soft on my poor chewed nips

EmTen90 · 25/05/2021 21:07

I jotted down this list, when my LO was a few months old, of the most useful gifts we received so I could remember for future gifting:

Personalised Blanket
Bumble Boutique 4 Layer Muslin Blanket
Fisher Price Soothing Vibrations Chair
Nuby Tummy Time Pillow
Jellycat Soft Book
Nuby Shark Teether
Swaddle Blankets
Tomy Hide and Squeak Eggs

Lalliebelle · 25/05/2021 21:13

Posh hand cream, chocolates, and a paperback (all for me!)

BlackElephant · 25/05/2021 21:15

Sciurus83 · 25/05/2021 21:23

Big box of All Plants ready meals, amazing

SionnachGlic · 25/05/2021 21:30

A v colourful papier mache hot air balloon that hung from the ceiling...it was just fabulous (still is)...brought a lovely dreamy feel to the room combined with sky & cloud painted wall... it inspired the imagination!

Hall84 · 25/05/2021 21:31

Tuppence and crumble star blanket (we bought them in every size after a gift!)
Extra large insulated cup with a straw and coffee lid
Grosnugs

SemiFeralDalek · 25/05/2021 21:36

@Grizalda

A morckk blanket. It's a blanket with harness holes for the pram or car seat, it was ingenious when they were tiny.
This!

Or a tuppence and crumble starsnug

ChewedClickyPen · 25/05/2021 21:36

A Trunki. We like to get away, and that Trunki has been everywhere with us. Camping in the UK and abroad, on all types of holiday. So, so practical. Luggage (hand luggage sized too), a seat, a pull-along ride. Best memory ever was when a night time flight was delayed by 4 hours and DS (then aged 5) and a bunch of other kids in the airport who also had Trunkis, linked them together and had a Trunki train ride that kept them occupied for a good couple of hours.

DS is 9 now and sadly outgrown his, but I can't part with it. I will hold onto it for the grandkids if necessary 🤣

SemiFeralDalek · 25/05/2021 21:36

Ha! Cross post Hall84 Grin

MatLeave · 25/05/2021 21:40

Angelcare sound and movement monitor was great for peace of mind.

shoesplash · 25/05/2021 21:43

Agree with those who have said morrck
Blanket- they save so much faff!!

I have recently bought 2 as baby presents for close friends and there is also the option to have them in a beautiful gift box

MamaEs · 25/05/2021 21:44

Sophie Giraffe

Items for weaning, plates, bowls, I loved the nuby net for fruit etc.

Sock ons

Calpol, teething gel - so handy to have these items in the cupboard because you don't know you need them until you do!

A2BviaCandD · 25/05/2021 21:49

I made my sister in law a hamper with a Braun thermometer, calpol, teething powder, gripe water, sudocrem, baby bath, baby lotion, muslins and a pram blanket in a wicker basket. She said it was the best thing she could have asked for as it would be so useful.
I did it as I didn't want her having to run out to get things from the chemist if my niece became unwell in the night or when my bil was at work.

AngeloMysterioso · 25/05/2021 22:01

My go-to is Ewan.
